i was just wondering when does apple usually do the laptop refresh with new hardware etc?
I am asking because my current macbook, is causing me issues and I don't want to buy a MBP now if the laptops are going to be refreshed in a few months
Sometimes I will be using Safari, particularly on Facebook, and Safari will randomly start refreshing the pages repeatedly over and over again without me doing anything. Anyone else have this problem? Any way to keep it from happening again? The only way I can get it to stop is by quitting Safari completely.
My macbook pro's launchpad icons are not removing themselves when I delete the app from my applications folder like they used too. I have been using launchpad cleaner to get the stubborn buggers out of there. Im going mad because I rather like the launchpad feature.
My desktop keeps refreshing automatically. Even if I'm not doing anything on it, after about 1 minute, all of the icons will disappear then they all apear again like nothing happend. Nothing else seems affected by this, but if I have a Finder window open, it gets closed. When I am on another program and when it refreshes, it brings me onto the finder instead of program I am on, which gets annoying after a while. If I am trying to copy some files on the finder (like from one folder to another), when it refreshes, it stops the copying.
About every minute or two, Finder refreshes all it's windows, and bring them all to the front. It also resets whatever I'm trying to do with finder as well. If I close all the windows, they all open again in their original arrangement. I've tried restarting. This is what console.log says
Code: Jan 23 10:48:51 bjancewicz crashdump[487]: Finder crashed Jan 23 10:48:52 bjancewicz crashdump[487]: crash report written to: /Users/bjancewicz/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Finder.crash.log Jan 23 10:50:21 bjancewicz crashdump[492]: Finder crashed Jan 23 10:50:22 bjancewicz crashdump[492]: crash report written to: /Users/bjancewicz/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Finder.crash.log......................
I will browse the internet, click back on a tab, and the site will refresh. Highly annoying for when you are streaming radio, music etc.If I am downloading, when the page refreshes, the download stops, so I have to start again.Â
I manage about 10 mac's here at work and would like to set up a user account for students. I am hoping that it is possible to setup a user account in such a way that any changes made whilst the student is logged in will be erased and refreshed for the next student.
I know that I can do this with the guest account but I've discovered that this is not suitable for what I need due to me not being able to create login items (specifically network volumes).
I've not done any scripting or anything like that but I was thinking of copying a script that would take a backup of the user's home directory upon login, then upon logout, the current home directory would be deleted and replaced with the backup that was taken earlier.
However, I'm guessing this will turn to poop if the student simply pulls the plug so I guess everything would have to be done upon login..
Is there any way to monitor this and find out which program is causing it? I don't use Limewire or any other type of file sharing software. Every once in a while I'll see a slight spike (between 500-800KB/S) in bandwidth for no real reason, then my IP gets blocked. How do I find out what's going on behind the scenes?
Safari seems to refresh pages (especially when I'm logged in to Facebook), every so often (logging me out of social sites). It must be some kind of bug wherein Lion's Resume feature seem to get messed up.
I like to open up news websites to get my news. I find a story I am interested in and click the link and read the story. The problem is that when I return to the front page of that website, Safari immediately refreshes the page and makes me wait a few seconds before I can click on another link I was interested in. It is extremely annoying to have to wait for a refresh everytime I go back to the page. Seems a lot worse after the 5.1.7 update.
Double poll here. There are two questions: How much DATA do you have Oo-line?
This is data and not total capacity. This includes all your on-line data: music, images, video, the OS, all of it. It doesn't include back-up data even if it's on-line like Time Machine tho. Just active data.
And of the on-line storage devices used for that DATA totally, what % are they filled to?
For example if you had two 500 GB drives and about 400 GB of data you would answer: "I have < 500 GB of DATA on-line." and,"My on-line storage is between 25% and 50% full.".
i'm having some issues recording in garage band which should hopefully be easy to clear up. i record an instrumental track into garage band through the line-in jack in the back. the track shows up in garage band just fine and plays, but i'm running into trouble recording while that track is playing. i plug my headphones in so i can try to hear the track while i am recording vocals, but i am unable to hear the track. i checked the inputs/outputs in system preferences and output is set to headphones, microphone is set to line in. so i'm not too sure what it could be.
I am currently getting to grips with applescript. I have created some documents using pages 09 and pull in a couple of charts onto these doc's using Numbers 09. I am trying to find the applescipt command that tells Page 09 to Refresh or Sync the data from Numbers 09. you can do it manually by cliekc ing the Sync/Refrresh arrow thingies but i cant find a way to automoate it
I'm running MacOS 10.9.3 on a late 2013 MacBook Pro.On a few instances I've spotted that the icon on the dock is not changing to show that there are contents waiting to be zapped. On clicking on the icon the finder window does show the files, but the state change doesn't happen.Â
Every minute or so, the icons on my desktop dissapear and reappear in less than a second. It is almost as if something is crashing and restarting in the background. It would be that big of a problem, except that if I am working on a full screened app it slides me back to "Desktop 1" everytime that it happens.
Info: MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.7.3)
I've had this problem since Friday with my Mac Pro (March 2009) and haven't been able to solve it.
On Friday my speakers suddenly stopped working. After first having confirmed that the speakers were working with another source, I tried headphones both in frontal headphone slot and with the analog line out in the back, both without success. There's a red light in the optical audio out, indicating that it's on for some reason, although I have selected different audio out source. The internal speaker works just fine, only the normal audio out doesn't give me anything.
I found a thread in the MBP section similar to this problem, but solutions for MBP didn't work.
My line out port on my late 2007 white macbook recently died and I no longer have AppleCare. I never use the line in port on my computer and use the line out quite alot. I have tried all kinds of fixes to fix the problem but nothing works. I would like to use the line in port as a line out port. I am not sure if this is possible so I thought I would ask here if anyone knew of a way.
Seems like it should be a straight forward deal, but it's not obvious how to make this happen. I can tell the audio is coming in, as the input levels are reflected under System Pref's. But I can't hear the audio on the line-out speakers and there doesn't seem to be an option to explicitly route the audio.Â
I have a 2nd monitor and hooked up my xbox 360 to it. I have it connected through HDMI and then have a regular audio jack going from the monitor to my Mac Pro. When I open up my sound preferences and select: Line In - Audio Line In the "Input Level" bar goes up and down meaning it is registering or hears the sound coming from my xbox.
For some reason though, the sound will not output from my Mac Pro. My speakers which are connected to Line Out: Built In Line Output still outputs sound coming from my mac pro but it won't output the sound from my 360. Is there a remedy for this?
So quickly again.
Line In - Audio Line In is "hearing" the sound from my xbox 360 as the "Input Level" bar goes up and down.
Line Out - Built In Line Output still outputs sound from my Mac Pro but not the 360.
I am trying to record a talk from my MD player using the line-in on my macbook, but I have no idea how to do it. (I have selected the line-in in the input and it shows that it is receiving the input, but there is no sound.)
I have a feeling they'll eventually phase out the MacBook line in favor of the MBP/MBA notebooks. The 13" MBP is almost the same as the MacBook in terms of specs, the only real difference being the aluminum uni-body, which should really be included in the entire MacBook family anyway. I can see how the Air and Pro are two different beasts entirely, but the negligible differences between the 13" Pro and the regular MacBook no longer makes sense to have them separate. The white MacBook is also starting to look a bit dated.
I've got some synths connected to a mixer, which I've got going into my Mac's line in. It hears it fine, and I can record what's coming in via a wave recorder, but I want to be able to HEAR what is coming in too. I mean like, have it playthrough the computer and right to the speakers.
i just bought a used macbook, for about 1 year now there has been a red pixel line on the lower left side of the screen and the pixel line runs about 4 inches up, i ran a pixel check and tried massaging the screen and nothing works, i ran a program called PiXel and found out that it turns red on red, yellow on when all the other colors on the screen are blue and And it turns reddish when all the other colors are blue, it turns orange-yellowish when all the colors on the screen are black and its white when all the colors are white.
now my question is do i need a new lcd screen? or do you believe it's one of the connectors? or do you think its the logic board?
I Have reason to believe that Arrendale Processors will not be coming to the Macbook Pro line anytime soon. As you all may know Apple is currently using NVIDIA as its primary chipset. If apple was going to transition to Arrendale (nehalem) processors, they would likely use NVIDIA as their primary chipset. BUT there is a battle between NVIDIA and Intel (because of licensing) and Intel will not let NVIDIA make chipsets for its Nehalem micro-architecture, So if Apple was to transition to Arrendale they would likely have to use Intel's chipset (which is also their intergraded graphics) or they will have to stick with Penryn as their processors and use keep using NVIDIA as their chipset.
