MacBook Pro :: Charge Techniques And Usage To Preserve Battery Life?

I have been reading posts about charge techniques and usage to preserve the battery life but its often inconclusive and comes with different opinion. Even Apple do not have a proper usage/charge guide to maintain battery lifespan. Therefore, I have decided to conduct this study and perhaps produce a certain conclusion on what is the best charge technique to maintain the battery life of our Macs. Please fill in the following template and a final conclusion will be produced once we've received enough inputs. Use software like Coconut Battery to retrieve the relevant information required by this study.

MacBook Pro :: Battery Life /charge Cycles?
iv got the 2.5ghz macbook pro (not the unibody model) the one just before that, and im getting ok life out of it, prob down a bit now but thats normal due to depletion and always charge from flat to full and leave it to drain til i charge etc, but slowly the life of the battery has diminished from when i got it. i've reached about 240 charge cycles......roughly how long are the batteries expected to last before replacement is needed.

MacBook Pro :: Charge It Or Let Battery Drain During Normal Usage?
Is it better, during normal usage, for example at home, where you could either charge your MacBook Pro or let the battery drain until it is used up (5%, ...).

Some people say that letting the battery cycle is the best option, yet other people, including my friend who had lost many many cycles even though he had attempted precautions (Dim screen brightness until one block remained, wireless off, bluetooth off) had said that having your laptop plugged in as muchas possible is the best option, as there would be no cycle change.

MacBook Pro :: Remaining Battery Life 44 Percent After 175 Charge Cycles
My early 2009 2.66ghz Macbook Pro's battery seems to be having issues. I'm new to this and the numbers just seem incorrect. I have used many battery monitors to determine the health of my battery and according to them my battery life remaining is ONLY 44% after 175 charge cycles. The laptop is less than 12 months old. I just don't really understand this, my battery seems to be running out quickly and im just wondering if its worth taking in to the apple store? Is it a defective battery or just normal wear?

MacBook :: 91% Battery Life After 30 Charge Cycles?
I noticed that my MacBook doesn't run as long as it used to before I have to charge it again. I downloaded CoconutBattery, and it tells me that my battery is down to 91% of its original capacity after only 30 charge cycles. It's 5 months old according to CB, and I bought it new on Dec. 24th. (It's a Unibody White...) Is this normal, or should I take it into the Apple Store for a replacement?

MacBook Pro :: Battery Life Slightly Shorter After Calibrating Battery
I calibrated my MacBook Pro battery and then noticed that the battery life seemed slightly shorter after that. I calibrated it according to this: [URL]

Just wondering if I have done anything wrong...

One more question... What do they mean by "At this point, save your work. Continue to use your computer; when the battery gets very low, the computer will automatically go to sleep." Does it mean that I have to use the computer until it just shuts down or should I shut it down once the "Low Battery" warning pops up?

Mac :: New Macbook Pro Battery Fully Charged Leaves Short Battery Life?
my son has just bought a brand new Macbook Pro7 13 inch, 320GB,4GB RAM,2.4GHz & he has twice fully charged the MBook ,then it only shows 3hours 59mins,then dropped to 3hours within 4 minutes ,then went backup to 3hrs,41minutes in about 5 minutes, then went completely down to no battery left at all after the 3hrs,41mins.So being 1 day old ,We cannot workout why a new MBPro with a max of 10 hours battery life,is not leaving after a full charge, such little battery life,Can anyone advise us what we can do? This is not right at all as his older 2009 macbook still has more battery life ,so if anyone can advise us what we can do,or should do?

MacBook Pro :: Battery Getting Hot / Battery Life Reducing
I've had this MBP for just over 8 months now, I'd intially purchased one in november, but the audio out used to give a crackle sound so they replaced the laptop. Moving on to the point - in the last week or so, I've noticed the MBP suddenly seems to get very hot and the fans turn on and thus suddenly becomes very noisy. I was using it on the bed so could appreciate that I may have been blocking the vents, but I've had it on a stand the past couple of days and it still seems to do it for no particular reason. The charger usually always gets ridiculously hot, but the MBP used to stay relatively cool, now the MBP gets hot independently of whether its being charged or not. Moreover, my battery life has gone from what used to last 4 hours, to around 2.25.

Cocunut battery gave the following stats:
Current Battery capacity: 4483mAh
Load Cycles: 222
Age: 8 months

MacBook Pro :: Late 2008 15 Battery Life - Watching Movie From Hard Disk Use Less Battery Than DVD?
i just ordered a late 2008 macbook pro 15 with the dual GPUs (9400m and 9600m GT) and I'm a little worried about the battery life.

-What can I expect if just doing normal every day stuff (web surfing mostly?)

-does watching a movie off of the hard disk use less battery than watching it off a DVD? Is there a big difference?

I'm not a big gamer but would like to have the horsepower to play a game should one come out that I want. I'm also not a big traveler so battery times are only of average importance.

Basically, I'm asking if I made a good purchase considering I have only average concerns for both battery and game performance. They had the new 7 hour battery 15" macbook pro for the same price but it doesn't have the dual GPUs.

MacBook Pro :: Unable To Charge Complete Battery / Service The Battery?
been using my older MBP with windows 7 for a while and have never notice oddies with the battery until now. Then recently after replacing the failed HD and re-installing Snow Leopard on my 2007 MBP, the battery panel is telling me "Service Battery"; it's battery health according to coconutBattery is fair for it's age (50%).

the unit (battery) has been replaced previously due to being considered 'under performing'. Is Snow Leopard trying to encurate it's users to replace the battery more frequently? If not, does anyone know why this appears? I'm at lost, since it appears to work fine, if not charging completely.

MacBook Pro :: Battery Usage And Cycle Count
I've had my MBP for three weeks, and I've only completely depleted the battery one time for calibration. Most days I use the computer on battery power for a little while, say down to 90 percent or so, then plug it back in. I've been doing this maybe a couple of times a day. I thought these small discharges would not significantly impact battery life. Yet my system profiler says I already have 11 cycles! Does this cycle count seem normal for the type of usage I've described?

Here's what it says in system profiler:
Charge Information:

Health Information:

MacBook :: Good Battery & Terrible Battery Life?
I have a 13" 2.4 GHZ white macbook that I bought in march of 2008. About 4 months ago I all of the sudden started having problems with battery life. It was very abrupt. I used to be able to take my macbook and sit through 3 classes or more with no trouble in regards to batter life. Then suddenly the battery would drain within a few hours. It has remained that way since.

I've spent the last month or so looking around forums and other places to try and find someone with a similar problem and possible solutions. As a result I've discovered that my situation seams to be somewhat unique.

Using cocoanut battery I tested my battery's capacity and it remains at a solid 98%. How can my battery still be at 98% capacity and have such a short battery life? I also seam to be losing charge while my macbook is closed. How and why does that happen? If I leave my macbook closed for a day or two it can lose up to 25% charge just sitting there!

I've tried loads of things including turning off unnecessary things such as sharing and bluetooth and calibrating my battery, all with no avail.

What is going on?? My battery is too old to be eligable for a recal and I'm not paying $30 just to have a phone conversation with a "Genius". If anyone has any idea what's going on and any possible advice, I would greatly appreciate it.

MacBook Pro :: Average Battery Life
I don't use my 17" Macbook Pro that often, but yesterday when I used it at a staff meeting, I noticed that I was only able to get about two or three hours top of battery life. I'm currently calibrating it to see what can be seen.

I'm just wondering - is that the average life of a battery? Two or three hours before needing a charge? If so, then that's fine... I'll live with it. However, if that is considered not that long... then I guess I need to consider purchasing a new battery.

Also, if I DO NOT use my computer for long periods of time, should I consider taking out the battery to prolong the life of it?

OS X :: MacBook Pro With Only 3 To 5 Hours Battery Life
I have the 13" MacBook Pro with the beefiest processor and a 500GB HDD. When I bought the machine, I quizzed the guy at the store about a couple of things. In particular I asked about the battery life. He told me apple claims that this machine should have 7 hours of battery life when doing light tasks, but that he personally was able to squeeze out over 8 hours of battery life with simple web browsing.

My problem is that I can barely get 3,5 hours worth of batterylife out of the machine before it gives up the ghost. And this is with the backlight on the display turned down to 1/3 of full brightness. And all I'm doing is browsing text webpages with no flash. Is this normal? Or have I simply overlooked some basic power option that I need to toggle?
