so i set the auto screen adjuster on my mbp so i can control it...and i put the sider all the way to the left side..now i cant see anything...what are the short cut keys to make it brighter?
View 3 RepliesSo I have a DYNEX 21 inch HD TV conected up to my MBP via the VGA connection route. My problem is that when I want a program (or more specifically in this case a game) to go into fullscreen mode it automatically goes to my primary monitor and turns the other screen black. I know I can switch the primary monitor from my actual laptop screen to the TV however I just want the game to be full screen on the TV while still having access to my dock and everything on my laptop.

It never really bothered me until I realized I needed the multi-tasking. Is there anyway to keep functionality on either screen when the other is in fullscreen mode?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got my MacBook attached to my 40" Sony Bravia HDTV (KDL40W4500), and when I mirror the display or use the HDTV as the primary screen it cuts off portions of the screen like the main toolbar on top, as well as some of the dock. I tried to change the Screen Format on my TV but that doesn't seem to work, does anyone know how to fix this?
View 9 Replies View Relatedi have been having issues with mac users who have the new mac book pro with the retina display, apparently the native screen size is too large for the web ex and logmein services to display. they are currently aware of the situation but there is no resolution date, is there any way to lower the resolution. we tried to have some peopel lower the settings but there is no resolution setting where the user can lower it to a much smaller size like 1024 x 768. the web ex app is usally ran through java.

I have just received all the cable to connect my Macbook Pro to my 40" Samsung HDTV. mini display port dvi --> dvi to hdmi adapter --> HDMI cable plus a RCA audio cable. It will connect and the sound is fine but on the TV the Menu bar (at top) is gone but only because the TV seems to be cutting it off and 1/2 inch of the dock is gone too (this is using mirroring displays). I have also tried switching off mirror displays and transfer the menu bar and dock over but you still cannot see the menu bar and you can barely see the dock, also some of the sides are cut off. Its not a huge problem but it would be nice to be able to see the whole screen.

I have a MBP purchased in late 2006 so it's fairly old.
Lately I've been having really random lock ups and freezing maybe once every week or so. Sometimes when I hard reset it, there's a few horizontal lines across the screen, usually just on the background. It'll go away if I restart it again.
I used the onboard disk checker and no problems are detected. Is this a sign that the hardware will fail soon?

All of a sudden I'm unable to connect via Screen Sharing from my MacBook Pro to my iMac via wifi network. It was working just a day ago. Don't know of anything I've done to disable it. I checked my iMac and in prefs have screen sharing enabled. I did a repair permissions and still no go.

I have been running low on memory space for a while and just recently I turned my laptop on and all I saw was a blue screen. Fortunately there was still a bar on the top of my screen and I was able to access Safari by selecting the apple icon->Recent Items->Safari. I still cannot see the time or any of the other features. Safari seems to be the only application I can open, my itunes won't open and neither will just about any other application.

My screen was suddenly empty and show "loading application…” for seconds, then the screen went back normal again. I turned off wifi, but it didn’t stop my crazy cursor. then i restarted my laptop, but i still couldn’t control my cursor.

I have just one frame in Imovie 9 that I want to slow mo. It shows in the Apple online video tutorial that you can simply double click on the frame and then adjust the speed. One problem:

The other day my 1st gen MBP functioned without any probs, until it suddenly powered down. After I removed the question marks from my eyes, I offcourse tried to reboot it.
But it never makes it beyond the grey screen, sometimes untill the apple logo, sometimes not even that far.
Offcours I googled around first to gather some info before I decided to put this problem down on this board. I found this could be a HDD failure, but in those cases, with other people, it could be powered holding apple + s, and doing some checks that way.

I have a second hand 1st gen MBP with upgraded HDD and RAM, snow leopard, and coincidently since last week no more battery... so i may have powered down a completely unprepared mac by tripping over the wire, once or twice...
My macbook pro won't boot past the grey screen, I've tried reseting PRam, running fsck from single user etc to no avail. All signs would point towards a hard disk failure, but the curious thing is that it sometimes mounts in disk utility when booting from the install CD, so theres a little life left in it yet! I have fairly recent backups of most of my files, but there are a couple I've been working on in the past few days that won't be backed up. So my question is this - is it possible to copy files from my mac HD onto a external drive through the terminal/disk utility while booting from the CD.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my Mini no problem, then I put the install disk in my MacBook and started the upgrade. All appeared normal.
Came back about an hour later, and the MacBook was asleep. Woke it, expecting to see the new login screen, but I got the old login screen. Logged in, and did not see the welcome movie or anything to indicate the new OS. Checked 'About This Mac', and it says OS 10.5.8.
Before I started the upgrade I had about 11.5GB free on my 80GB hard drive. Now I have just short of 10GB free. There is a folder on my HD titled 'Mac OS X Install Data' with a 'date modified' of today (all other folders have older dates) -- it appears to be mostly .pkg files, the biggest of which are 'Essentials.pkg' (841MB) and 'BaseSystem.pkg' (625MB).
Can anyone tell what went wrong -- why when the computer restarted it's not running 10.6? And, maybe more importantly, what should I do now? Run the installer disk again? Could it be that I didn't have enough free space on my HD?
I need to get files off of my damaged Macbook and I'm not sure how to do it. Is there a way to transfer files from my macbook to another computer? The damage is to the screen of my macbook and it is severe- you can only see the top left of screen, the rest is cracked/blacked out. Is there anything I can do?
