MacBook Pro :: Retina Artifacts When Playing Videos?
Jun 29, 2012
I seem to only get this issue when playing videos back on my Macbook Retina. Just picked it up today and really hoping it's not a hardware fault... [URL]
Info:
MacBook Pro with Retina display, Mac OS X (10.7.4)
I've got a bunch of 1080p videos in MKV. When I play them using VLC and switch the video to a different scene (say 20 minutes ahead), artifacts appear throughout the video for a few seconds and then it disappears. I have this on about half of my MKV 1080p Videos. Is this normal? This only occurs when I manually switch to a different scene. If I play the video straight through then it plays fine. This occurs on both my Mac Pro and Windows Vista Computer. Are my videos corrupt? I don't notice this on my Mac Pro when using Movist when switching scenes.
I purchased the original macbook air. The fan would kick on at full blast within minutes and it would get very hot. I sold it and got a MBP. Needless to say, the MBP handles videos without any issues.
How would the newer rev C MBA play videos? n I typically watch youtube vids and movies on the plane.
I'm looking to purchase the 1.86 GHz model. Just looking for something a little more travel friendly.
Whenever i load any videos or play any games on my macbook air, the game or the video runs really slow and jumps. The trackpad also jumps and the computer is just generally slower and not as smooth. What is the problem and is there anything i can do to fix it.
Videos ONLY on Facebook, will not play on my Macbook Pro. After updating my OS X to Maverick 10.9.4 I started having this problem. Here's is what I have done and NONE of it worked.
-I tried using Firefox, safari and Chrome. Did not work on any of them. -My Flash is up to date -I CAN play videos on Youtube. The problem is ONLY on facebook.
Just to see if it was something with my account and not my computer I logged into my FB on my ipad and the videos will play fine. So it is something with my Macbook Pro.
I can't seem to exist out of fullscreen using the esc key when a video is playing on website such as YouTube or Netflix. I can, however, escape the video when the video is paused. Is this a problem or is it just how they designed things?
I have tons of video in iPhoto that are not playing. They show a preview thumbnail, then they show the "triangle and exclamation" error sign when clicked on. The same videos appeared in iPhoto as recently as yesterday and worked just fine. The same videos no longer appear in iMovie and it says that iPhoto has no video content.
Whenever I go to watch a YouTube video, no video plays its just sound. I've tried using three different browsers (Safari, Google Chrome, FireFox) all to no avail.
Ok, I've noticed this week that my 2010 13" MBP hangs a lot when it plays any videos I've bought off of itunes (it's fine with other videos). I mean anytime a itunes video pops up on my itunes player, the whole computer hangs (beachball of death and can't do anything). And it hangs for quite a bit (haven't timed it but a minute maybe?)
At first I thought it was the graphics card as the first time I realized what was causing my computer to randomly freeze up (it's been starting to do that this week but at first wasn't sure what cause itunes was in the background) it gave the wierd color bars on the video screen for the video it was playing (I have itunes play the video in the small box on the left bottom corner). Like the whole video screen was random fubar color bars and not the video (it took a minute and then eventually played fine after me reclicking the video). It has not done that since.
I played around with it and noticed it seems fine when I play videos I have not bought off of itunes but it reliabley hangs the whole computer when I try to play a video bought off of itunes. It eventually plays but it is really annoying particularly cause it holds up my whole computer until it resolves whatever issue it is.
So, hardware or software and any suggestions if it is software on how to fix it?
I've been trying to look for a way to play videos stored on my Mac on my TV. I was excited for the Apple TV until I realized it only works on HDTVs, and I'm a poor college kid.
My IMac seems to be lagging when I play videos of movies or soap operas that I downloaded online. What do you think the cause of this could be? I play the videos in VLC, and I should be having a lag free smooth video play back right? I think I am still within the 14 day period, should I call apple and request a replacement? Also my HDD is always running at a constant 59 ~ 60 c when just watching videos / movies is this within normal temperatures?
Bought an iMac 3.1 ghz i5 Core (16gb memory). First got it, Adobe TV (tv.adobe.com) worked fine. Great! Then something happened and I'm sure it has something to do with an installation of software. My running bet is on the VirusBarrier. Other suggestions said: (1) Delete Flash Player, clear cache, restart, reinstall FP, delete video files cached via the FP preferences. (2) Another said right click on video window, set the FP settings to allow storage on computer, and another said to deselect hardware acceleration.
And to throw in another point, I have a MacBook Pro 17 (i5 Core) running beside me that has the ability to play the Adobe TV videos with no problem. Are there any other suggestions someone else may have? Firewalls? Turned off and then on. Nothing. Flash Player? Installed and all other flash media sites work fine. So it has something to do with the streaming I'm guessing?
I just got my first Mac and I am really happy with it. Just recently I started having a problem with my QuichTime Player. The player works perfectly with videos that I play from the laptop but when I try to play a video from [URL] the QuickTime player pops up with the message "URL not valid"! I have tried playing the videos from a different computer and that works without a problem.
Whenever I play HD movies on my iMac in full screen with QuickTime, you can always see the pixels, some are big some small, like boxes. Is there any fix to this? also this is a Aluminum mid level 20 inch iMac
I used to be able to import videos from my camera or 3gs to iphoto, then i could double click on them and they would automatically play through quicktime.
I have the iMac 27. I want to connect my iMac to my TV so I can use Front Row and play my stored vids via the TV. Can anyone tell me if this is possible. I have Sky+ and my TV has a spare scart and AV inputs.
I have a MacBook OS X 10.5.7. None of the QuickTime streaming choices worked for playing videos from the internet correctly (they kept starting, then stopping before going on). My internet provider is Verizon DSL. When I checked my connection speed, none of the numbers matched any of the QuickTime choices and I got a message saying my PC had not been optimized and another message saying that the Verizon optimizer is not compatible with Mac. I was directed to websites for broadband tuners. I downloaded a tuner (IPNetTunerX) and got video from the internet to show correctly with the tuner set to "DSL with PPPoE" and QuickTime set to "112Kbps Dual ISDN/DSL" and "Instant on" set to "off". The tuner is only a trial version. Is there any way I can accomplish the same thing without having to buy the tuner?
Recently videos are no longer playing properly on Safari, though they are on other browsers.
YouTube videos flicker and often display no video while the audio plays. Today where video should appear on The Onion site there was only the progress bar, with no audio either.
I was going to delete and reinstall Safari, but Momma Apple don't like that. What to do? A Flash problem at only affects Safari?
I was playing a bunch of 1080p videos when I started to hear a vibrating/buzzing/rattling sound coming from my Mac Pro. I don't recall ever hearing this sound before. Is there something wrong with my Mac?
I can't seem to play any flash videos from any sites, I have tried uninstalling adobe flash player using the uninstall tool, and have reinstalled the latest flash update, but the problem remains.
