MacBook Pro :: Glass Trackpad Too Sensitive Lack Of Resistance

Feb 7, 2010

I've had my Macbook Pro since mid 2009. It's been great, never had any real problems. Then in about October, I noticed one side of my trackpad wasn't offering as much resistance as it was before. I just ignored it, didn't mind too much. But it progressively got worse, and eventually got so sensitive that I couldn't even scroll without it clicking when I didn't want it too.I was pretty upset, called apple, they told me to send it in and fixed it for free. It was all very nice, orderly, and quick. So I was satisfied. But, lo and behold, it's at it again. I can't believe it. It hasn't gotten so sensitive that I can't use it yet, but I'm very upset right now. I have no idea why it's doing this. It's not really overheating, I have never dropped or hit my macbook. I'm the only one who uses it. I don't abuse it at all.

MacBook Air :: Glass Trackpad 11" - Bottom Line Air Trackpad Seems More Polished

Dec 21, 2010

I have an late 08 unibody Mbp and a 11 mba, I have noticed the glass trackpad on the air is much closer to the glass on an iphone in the way your finger reacts to it... the least bit of moisture and your finger doesn't glide as easily. On the pro it seems to have more of a coating to allow for smoother use under these normal conditions (humidity). Has anyone else noticed this? bottom line the air trackpad almost seems more polished.

MacBook Pro :: Trackpad Button Has Become Overly Sensitive?

Jul 1, 2012

After years of faithful sevice, my MacBook Pro has recently taken to registering clicks as double or even triple clicks, and I have to try several times to get the single click I want. Actually, it's become so sensitive that it only takes a light touch (less than needed for the button to click) to think that it's being clicked. I assume this is a hardware issue. Do I need to take my computer apart to solve it?

MacBook Air :: Actually Got A Glass Trackpad?

Nov 7, 2008

I was reading and old review of the macbook air on apple insider and at the last page of the 5page review they have high quality pictures showing off the air at different angles. Some of them are showing the trackpad and u can clearly see what looks to be a glass coating, much in the same way as the new macbook and pro has.Knowing that the air was the first computer that got the "brick" enclosure without apple telling us about it untill recently. Maby they wanted to save this little cool atribute also?

Windows On Mac :: Trackpad Super Sensitive In Bootcamp

Nov 2, 2009

I dual-boot OS X with Windows 7 (Home Premium) on my MacBook Air and the trackpad is super sensitive in Bootcamp. It's not the cursor speed, but the accidental "mouse clicks" while moving the cursor across the screen that have become troublesome (I daytrade securities in Windows, and a rogue mouse can be an absolute back-breaker). The only resolution has been to disable "tap to click" in the Bootcamp Control Panel. I've seen dozens of aged threads across the web regarding the issue that unfortunately provide no real solution for this. Do you have any solutions of your own?

MacBook Pro :: A Glass Trackpad Is On The Top Of My List ?

Sep 27, 2008

It seems everyone hates the idea of a glass trackpad, but for me a glass track pad is on the top of my list of things I want in the next macbook/pro.Im not talking about putting a screen under the trackpad but just making the surface of the trackpad glass, its so much more durable, I have never seen a iPod Touch or iPhone with a worn out screen but after just a few months normal trackpads start to wear out on me, my first gen macbook's trackpad is completely worn out in the middle.

MacBook Air :: No Glass Trackpad On The New System?

Oct 15, 2008

How certain is it that there is no new buttonless glass trackpad on the revised MBA? The general consensus seems to be so, but is it based on a real assertion from Apple or just an assumption? It seems that people initially thought that the CPU had not been updated on the Air just because Jobs didn't explicitly announce that on the press conference, could it be the same case with the glass trackpad?

Hardware :: Apple Investigating With MacBook Pro's Glass Trackpad

Nov 3, 2008

A new buyer of Apple's uninbody notebooks emailed Steve Jobs about issues he was having with the unit's new glass trackpad and hinge, and reports getting a prompt reply via the telephone addressing his problems. The main issue he reported was the new trackpad's failure to register every physical click, a problem AppleInsider noted in its in-depth review. The Apple representative that called back reported that the company is looking into the complaints, but has no immediate resolution. The user also complained about the display hinge on the new model, which now has a more precise feel but less friction, allowing the lid to fall shut by gravity when held at an angle, such as when laying in bed. A video in our review of the new MacBook Pro highlights this new design change over previous 'Aluminum' PowerBook and MacBook Pro models.

MacBook :: Unibody Space Between Glass Trackpad And Enclosure ?

I didn't have a chance to take a picture, but I can take one when I get home if needed.I never noticed this before, until I recently compared it to another Macbook, but my glass trackpad has a different feel, and unlike the other unibody macbook, the trackpad is not flush with the enclosure, and there is a small space on the left side, and an even smaller space on the right side.I don't want to take it into the store, if this is something that is normal, or within spec. Aside from this issue, the trackpad works without issue and everything else is great.

OS X Yosemite :: Mighty Mouse Sensitive Vertical Scrolling Sensitive?

Dec 4, 2014

This issue may have been present in Mavericks as well, but I have no first hand experience with Mavericks. I was recently updated to Yosemite at work and this is when my Mighty Mouse (wired, with a scroll wheel button on top, NOT MAGIC MOUSE) started going nuts.

I have my work settings matched exactly to the settings on my Mighty Mouse at home running on Mountain Lion. Horizontal scrolling is not an issue at all, but vertical scrolling is so incredible sensitive. I very slight scroll will send me to the op or bottom of a page in almost all applications. It is extremely annoying in my Adobe apps. I work in Illustrator moots the day and this scrolling issue has killed my production time.

I use my vertical and horizontal scrolling quite a lot in doing my work. The vertical again is fine and seems to match my scrolling at home, but any more than a single click of the scroll wheel since updating to Yosemite will send my cursor off of the artboard, which is sometimes very large. I t has too often centime to the edges of the pasteboard which than takes forever to try to scroll back into position. I simply use the Fit Artboard in Window key command to center my work on screen and then gently scroll to where I need to be.

To set my scrolling speed to slow will correct the vertical scrolling but will make my horizontal scrolling so heavy that I have to resort to using the hand tool to move around in my Illustrator app, which I have employed full-on at this point because it is the only consistent solution I have found.

Many people have suggested that I get rid of the Mighty Mouse and use the Magic Mouse. I have many reasons for not doing this (my 3D work needs a middle button for one), but I have also been reading that these Magic Mouse users are having their own scrolling issues.

IMac :: Chip In Glass Behind Screen - What If They Only Replace The Glass But Get Dust?

Aug 11, 2010

there is a small chip behind the glass of my 27" imac. It's about the size of a small crumb or the eye of a small needle. It's hard to see, but it's definitely there. Today is my last day to get the imac replaced or repaired. I have a feeling if I bring it in that they will see there's no reason to swap out the entire imac, and if there is I would have to wait awhile because it's a custom high end one so they don't have the specsI'm worried if they swap the glass that it's just some 19 year old kid that does it and he won't be careful with the screen and will get dust, finger prints, etc. on the glass making it worse.

MacBook Pro :: Setting Keyboard Sensitivity - Lack Of Response

Nov 7, 2010

I had a look today at various models of the MBP, I must say I like everything about them except the keyboard, to touch type on it, it feels very cheap, very "lack of response". I am a fast touch typist, and I am used to bashing out 60+ wpm, however I found on all the models I tired, 13,15 and 17 the keyboard is all much of a much. I found typing fast that characters don't appear on the screen.

I assume somewhere in the options there are settings to change the keyboard sensitivity? That's really the only thing putting me off buying one, well apart from also deciding what screen size to get. Portability vs. Screen Size. I wish Apple offered an i7 version of the 13" MBP, that would make the choice easy.

MacBook Air :: Lack Of Backlit Keyboard - Keys Dark Gray

Dec 27, 2010

I love my 11.6" Air but the lack of a backlit keyboard is killing me. And why on earth are the freaking letters on the keys dark grey? If Apple released a new Air next month with an i3 or i5 ULV or Sandy Bridge ULV and a backlit keyboard I would feel compelled upgrade even at ridiculous cost to myself. Is there a real reason why there are no backlit keys on the Air? Is Apple just forcing me to upgrade to the next model when released?

Just not sure how it went down. They are in a clean room. Looking at the Air. Seems like someone would have said, "thing would really benefit with a backlit kayboard" and that somebody else would have said "yeah, we are Apple, leaders in design" and then Jobs would chime in, "Damn straight. Make it so." Where did it breakdown?
