I am planning to get a MacBook Pro 13.3-inch, probably the 2.53 GHz model. I selected the 13.3-inch because when I travel, size and weight are of upmost concern. But when I am not mobile (90% of the time), it will always be plugged into a 24" LED Cinema Display.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am going to college this year to study Graphic Design and i am looking to purchase a MBP 15". I have read a couple of other threads which cover similar questions however i am not truly satisfied with the answers i have read.
My MBP will have to run the following programs on a regular basis: Photoshop, Bridge, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash. It will also have to run basic tasks such as word processing, internet surfing and email. Finally i would also like to install parallels and XP on the machine just in case an work or applications need to be run on windows. Obviously all of these applications will not be running simultaneously however there is a strong chance 2 or 3 maybe running at the same time. My Imac deals with this without problems, will the MBP be the same?
I'm trying to find out if it's possible to install a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics card into my 13" 2.4GHz macbook. Is at all possible to play Left 4 Dead 2 on this system?
View 10 Replies View RelatedThe 9400M was in older Macbook Pros and I've seen many videos where people run crysis on high/very high and have pretty good FPS. The laptops arent as fast as the newer ones, but yet my MBP (specs down below) which is faster, can only run crysis on medium at around 30 FPS, unless i wanted 5 FPS with high. The only reasoning for this, to me at least, is that the 330M chip is not as good. Is this the case? If so, why the hell did the graphics chip get downgraded? Here is a link to one of the vids I was talking about: [URL:....] This guy is using the demo for his vid. when i use the demo, it doesnt even give me the option of using very high settings, and when i'm on high, my screen flashes in and out, i get random lines across the screen, and then my computer freezes.

I have a MacBook Aluminium, Intel Core 2 Due 2.0GHz with 2GB Ram and NVIDIA 9400M. The game plays incredibly slowly and keeps jumping, like the refresh rate is so slow. I have downloaded the latest driver from NVIDIA but still it plays slow. Is my problem here the lack of RAM and I have a dual core processor which is above the requirements? I thought the good video card and processor would be enough? A lot of games seem to have minimum requirements much more than my mac, its not ever that old and seems outdated already.
What is the better graphics card, the NVIDIA Geforce GT 120 in the iMac or the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M + 9600M GT with 512MB found in the Macbook Pro?

View 14 Replies View Relatedfirst time posting. Got a mac mini from March 09, got snow leopard on it and been running football manager 2011 on it without too many problems. However running the game on high graphic settings produces a lag/choppy gameplay, only playing it on medium gives smooth gameplay. But i've experienced poorer graphic capability installing games like EMpire at War in OS, but not in windows with bootcamp where the games can be played on the highest graphic settings without problems. Any reason for this? To try and sort it i thought i'd try and update my Nvidia drivers on the mac side of things, in the about mac pop up it says my card is a GeForce 9400 so when i try and install a driver from Nvidia with GeForce 9400m it wont install saying i dont have the hardware to support the drivers. But i cant find any info online to suggest there is two Nvidia cards with just an m difference? Even on wikipedia?

I have the unibody macbook pro, and so I've been reading through reviews now for a week ... my biggest concern is the dual-link dvi adapter... I still see posts (August or September 2010) with people experiencing issues, even with the firmware 1.3!I wanted to ask you people if I should go for it or dig the 27 inch even though it's glossy... I've hooked up my 30" Apple Cinema Display to the new iMac 27" and the highest resolution I'm getting as an option is 1280x800... The iMac correctly detects the ACD as a Cinema HD display but limits my resolution. Why oh why?!
I own 23 and 30" Cinema Displays. I like the 23 because everything is larger and easier to read than in the 30". I mostly work in Logic and love that I see lots of things on the 30" but the 23" is much easier on my eyes.Is there such a thing as a display with 2560x1600 (like the 30" Apple) but that is LARGER than a 30 inch so I can see everything bigger in Logic??? Maybe a 34 or 37"? Did a search but haven't come up with anything other than other 30" displays.

I am in love with the 30" cinema display, but according to technical support today, my setup is not compatible (supposedly, but the person on the phone didn't sound to sure). I have a mini DVI, but the 30" requires a dual DVI. I think the 23" display requires DVI, which I can attain with an adapter. Does anyone have suggestions for what I can use with my computer? The bigger the better for me. Also what do you think of the older (plastic case) apple displays?
View 1 Replies View RelatedPurchased a brand new 27" i7 imac a few weeks ago, display is awesome!!! I was using my old 28" LCD monitor from my PC and running dual displays on the iMac. The 28" LCD monitor annoyed me a bit because i could not get the same color/crispness/brightness that i got from the iMac. ( also it has a Matt screen and i am more into the glossy screens ) So i found a used 24" cinema display locally. Paid 600.00 and it came with 2 yrs of AppleCare. It is only 7 months old ( still have 5 months under orignal warranty ) Got home, hooked it up and it had a "hint" of yellowness to it, It wasn't a exact image of my iMacs display...I tried to calibrate it also, but it still had just a HINT of yellowness....Nothing at all major, but enough for me to be annoyed with it.

I am contemplating an upgrade from my 2.2 / 4G MBP with 128M VRAM, as i find that it often chokes on simpliest HD movie files created with a DSLR (weekish video), regardless whether I use it with or without the 30 inch Cinema display. So, I am curious how the new Air will run an external monitor, and whether it has enough juice to at least display the HD movies shot with a DSLR without dropped frames/jerkiness. (I guess I am asking two questions in one).

I plugged in the DVI cable, but was expecting there would also be a cable from the display into the wall socket? The display has four cables coming out of it, the DVI, USB, firewire and another. I clicked the display's power button, but only get a black screen.

I was first thinking of upgrading to an iMac with a 3.06Ghz processor and 27" display. View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a new 24" LED Cinema Display today but once I got it home I found that it doesn't want to charge my MacBook's battery. It said "Not Charging" when I clicked the battery icon in the menu bar but I really thought nothing of it. Then, while I was transferring files from my external HDD to the MacBook everything just turned off completely. I feared the worst and when I tried booting my MacBook it simply would not turn on. It seems like the Cinema Display had bled my MacBook dry - it had no charge in the battery and I had to do an NVRAM reset to get it to charge again over the power adapter. Still when I connect my Cinema Display to the Magsafe it does not charge the computer, yet it does charge fine when I connect it to the MacBook power adapter. Seems like a faulty Cinema Display to me, but it was an 80 mile round trip to the store to buy it, I don't really want to have to go back. Has anyone else had this problem?

The cord coming out of the display is one big cord that turns into 4 cords (1. power, 2. firewire, 3. usb, and 4. the monitor plug that has 2 sets of 9 prongs and 1 dash). I just got a refurbished macbook pro 2.3 GHz Intel core i7 built in Feb 2011.Any ideas how to connect..On another note ... with my wireless apple mouse, what was once swipe down meant scroll down on the screen ... now it's swipe down is scroll up ... is there a way to reverse that?
