Just got my mac yesterday, we have to use a dongle as cant get broadband via a normal telephone line in our house.The orange dongle works well on our pc and laptop. have been told in the shop it will be compatable, it installs, then says connect but nothing happens,I am currently on our pc again trying to work out why it wont work.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm having some problems with my Macbook Pro. It's two years old - purchased in the spring of 2012, it's a late 2011 model.
It's been running fine up until a few weeks ago. First, sometimes, after you close it and open it again, the keyboard lights up but the screen stays black, and you have to restart it. This has usually happened if you open it too quickly after closing it again, but the last time it happened after the laptop's been closed for over an hour.
Then, today, while I was using the laptop (not at start-up - it has been running for some time), the screen went orange. I had to shut it down, and it took four or five tries to get it to start again - the first few times, it turned on but the screen stayed black, then the next time it turned on, and kept playing the Mac start-up musical sound over and over again until it turned on, and then it finally turned on and started up.
I Have Had This Macbook For I Would Say 2 Year Its The White MAcbook. And I Have The Old Charger Where The Actual Part To Be Pluged Into The Laptop It About Tube Shaped. When I Plug It In It The LED Sometimes blinks Dim Green/Orange Really Fast And Then Sometimes It Just Stays Dim Green And Rarely It Goes Dim Orange ? And Then Some Times The Regular Bright Green And Rarely the Bright Orange
How Can I Fix This Problem . What Could It Be. ? It Works Fine When It Is Booted Up And When The LED Is Orange. Its Ben Like This Ever Since About 1 Week And A Half Ago. When It First Started Happening I Could Just Blow Really Hard Inside The The End O The Charger And The Slot For The Charger On The Macbook An It Worked. But I Dont Know What To Do Now If It Does Go Bright Orange It Happens Maybe Once Or Twice A day For Maybe 1 Minuter After 30 mins of tampering with it.
I need to purchase some of the orange anti-static tape that Apple uses to cover the connections on logic boards. I recently fixed a MBP (2.4GHz SR 15") and need to find some tape for the board. I know it isn't a completely crucial component, however, I would like to make my computer look as if it were new. If anyone knows where to buy this tape, the exact tape, not another version, please post a reply or email me. Thank you.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI put my MacBook on charge but nothing happened there was no orange or green light and in the top right hand corner it said 'not charging' . I tried it a few more times and then the led just flicked from green to orange so I shut the mac down just before it ran out of battery. I then borrowed my friends macbok charger the same power as my other one but now the led just flashes orange and as it mac won't turn on I guess it's not charging it properly.

My Macbook Pro's charger when I plug it in turns on (green light then orange light) and after a few seconds it turns off and back on again. I tried unplugging it and plugging it back in after several seconds and I also tried different power outlets but it still doesn't work properly, I even tried restarting the SMC (Not sure if I did it right though). What could be the cause and I have a Macbook Pro 13" Late 2011 model running Intel Dual Core i5 Processor.

I Bought this online, used (i know, bad choice) it was low battery soon as I opened it, but I started setting up my account. I plugged in the charger cord and wanted to keep working, but it just shut off suddenly. How much DATA do you have Oo-line?
This is data and not total capacity. This includes all your on-line data: music, images, video, the OS, all of it. It doesn't include back-up data even if it's on-line like Time Machine tho. Just active data.
And of the on-line storage devices used for that DATA totally, what % are they filled to?
For example if you had two 500 GB drives and about 400 GB of data you would answer:
"I have < 500 GB of DATA on-line." and,"My on-line storage is between 25% and 50% full.".
i'm having some issues recording in garage band which should hopefully be easy to clear up. i record an instrumental track into garage band through the line-in jack in the back. the track shows up in garage band just fine and plays, but i'm running into trouble recording while that track is playing. i plug my headphones in so i can try to hear the track while i am recording vocals, but i am unable to hear the track. i checked the inputs/outputs in system preferences and output is set to headphones, microphone is set to line in. so i'm not too sure what it could be.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had this problem since Friday with my Mac Pro (March 2009) and haven't been able to solve it.
On Friday my speakers suddenly stopped working. After first having confirmed that the speakers were working with another source, I tried headphones both in frontal headphone slot and with the analog line out in the back, both without success. There's a red light in the optical audio out, indicating that it's on for some reason, although I have selected different audio out source. The internal speaker works just fine, only the normal audio out doesn't give me anything.
I found a thread in the MBP section similar to this problem, but solutions for MBP didn't work.
My line out port on my late 2007 white macbook recently died and I no longer have AppleCare. I never use the line in port on my computer and use the line out quite alot. I have tried all kinds of fixes to fix the problem but nothing works. I would like to use the line in port as a line out port. I am not sure if this is possible so I thought I would ask here if anyone knew of a way.

I can tell the audio is coming in, as the input levels are reflected under System Pref's. But I can't hear the audio on the line-out speakers and there doesn't seem to be an option to explicitly route the audio.

Iit doesn't seem to affect performance but it's still puzzling me. Since I bought my Time Capsule several months ago the light on the front often switches from green to flashing orange after a few days of operation. Doing a hard reboot of the Time Capsule fixes the problem but then again after a few days it will be flashing orange again. A flashing orange light is supposed to indicate some kind of problem but I'm not noticing any change in network performance or functionality at all.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI need a bit of info on a device I found in a box of surplus stock... it's an Orange Micro SCSI to Firewire (IEEE1394) model 70HTL00010 - Standard 25-pin SCSI female connector to standard Firewire 6-pin female connector.
I discovered that Orange Micro went belly up a few years ago, and I don't have the instruction manual for the device. There seems to be very little concrete info on the web about that device. What I specifically need to know is the voltage of the power adapter (missing) of this device. From what I gathered, it can run without the adapter, but some SCSI devices will require it...
Any link to a PDF file or just the voltage of the adapter would be very helpful! I was thinking of trying to run a nice SCSI slide scanner through the Firewire port of my G5 with that converter.
I've currently got a 3rd party WiFi network in my house and I've set the AirPort Express to join the network to act as an ethernet bridge. My VOIP phone connects straight to ethernet so that's what I have connected currently to the ethernet port on the AirPort Express.
Now it all seemed to work fine, but when I actually use the VOIP phone the connection seems to go dead for around 4 seconds on a regular routine of about every 10 minutes. I'm not getting disconnected or anything but it just goes silent. I noticed that whenever the connection does this the Airport Express switches from solid green to flashing amber for the dead period then back to green again.
Also, any idea how I can access the Airport express now that it's joined to my other network? Airport Utility can't find it since I've done that.
I received an old powerbook from a friend today and i plugged it all in and everything and the power adapter in the back and the ring lit up orange but when i went to turn it on nothing happened at all i didnt hear anything inside, it just didnt turn on. i really want to find the problem and/or fix it up.... I dont want to part with it as i need an extra laptop...
View 10 Replies View RelatedI went to turn on my Powerbook G4 (Aluminum 1.67GHz Low Res) today and when I plugged it in, I noticied a kind of crackling or popping noise. I unplugged the power adapter and tried again. I knew that my battery was dying before this (could only get about 30 min on a charge). But now I cannot start my Powerbook. Whenever I plug in my power adaptor, there is no green/orange light. However, when I take the battery out, I hear the Powerbook trying to start up (hard drive spin). But then there is nothing but my fans on full blast! They will not stop and there is nothing on the screen. I left it there for a good 5 min and nothing changed!
