My webpage on Safari stopped showing the box on the top of the page to enter a web address. The trackpad was acting up just before it happened.Â

Can use a name on the icons on the taskbar on safari?  Also, is there anyway to shorten the address search bar at the top?Â
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I open any internet program on my computer, the internet opens up to the apple page as my homepage. There was a box at the top where I could type in a specific webmail page. That box has disappeared. I am not able to type in a web address anymore.

I've been searching for the missing link in Safari - the one thing that I need to stop using Firefox. I'd like to duplicate the functionality of the Awesome Bar in Firefox, which searches browsing history when a phrase is typed into the address bar. For example, if I want to listen to a youtube song, I could just type "Radiohead Paranoid Android" into the address bar, and assuming I had listened to it before, the link would pop up. Very handy. Unfortunately, in Safari, you have to type in "youtu..." and hope that you've listened to the song enough for it to appear in your few history links. Not very intuitive.
Are there any plugins to simulate this functionality? I tried Glims, and while it's completely awesome, it unfortunately doesn't help me here. I also tried the Quicksilver Safari Plugin, and while it technically does the job, it's just a tad clunky, and also has the annoying habit of opening a new browser window.
Is there a way to do it? Like we do in Google Chrome.
That plugin used to do the job:(URL)
My address bar and google search box are missing. I X'ed out of safari, rebooted, ran my cursor over the top edge of the screen, clicked on everything on my toolbar, and searched everything. I can't type in a web address to go anywhere
View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know if there's a plugin for Safari that does a "I'm feeling lucky" google search in the address bar? The same as how firefox does it. Also does anyone know a plugin the that puts a "Find on this page" search bar at the bottom of safari?

I am unable to use the search window on the right to get results when Google is selected as the search engine.I type in a search term and I am directed to a blank google search page. I have to type in the search term again, then I see a list of "hits". But when
I click on one of these hits I am not directed to the URL displayed. I have quit out of Safari and relaunched. I have rebooted my Mac. Neither changes the problem... This is a Google problem: I have the same symptoms when I use Safari on Windows XP. When I switch the search engine to Bing, the problems go away, for both platforms Has Google been hacked? Is this a Google attack on Safari?  How can I enter GoGoDuck as a search engine choice? Â

Is there a keyboard shortcut for switching search engines in Safari's search box (I believe Chrome had this feature before they got rid of the search box in the latest version)? The arrow on the left-hand side is cumbersome.

I seem to be having a hell of a time with all google related things. About 50% of the time I can't get to the google search page and get the error message Safari can't open the page [URL] because Safari can't connect to the server. When I am able to get into gmail, I am constantly being disconnected from gchat, like every 5 minutes. When it disconnects, it will try to reconnect, most of the time unsuccessfully. I then get the error message, unable to reach gmail please check your internet connection. This happens no matter what browser I use. However, when I try to connect from my husband's PC (same network), everything is fine. I've tried emptying my safari cache, tried uninstalling and re-installing both safari and firefox, and I am out of ideas. Any ideas about what is going on, and how I might fix this issue. I searched through the google help, and there were similar problems posted (none recently), but no answers on how to solve the issue. This has been going on for about a week now, and it's driving me up a wall.

I'm just wondering is there a way to set up your Mac so that pressing the enter key will open files because this is what I am used to doing on a PC. It gets kind of annoying because every time I open a file I end up renaming it accidently. Is there a way to open files with the enter key or is it just something that I'll have to live with?

There are few things I miss from Windows, but one thing is the way you open files. Is there a way, in Tiger, to be able to open files by just hitting return/enter, instead of [Command]+[Down]?
