Picked up a rev B in-store almost a week ago and I've been noticing a small issue: when the door for the ports is open, the edge that faces the user touches the desktop. I had the superdrive plugged in when I noticed this, and I noticed that there's a mark already; looks like the aluminum has been touching my desk and that's caused the anodizing to rub off.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2.2 ghz Macbook, and whenever I plug in the USB connected to my iPod into the side USB ports, I get this "USB Over Current Notice" and it deactivates the USB Hub. It doesn't do it every time, but it does it more often than not. It will do it on both USB ports.I don't think it's a prob w/ my iPod b/c the connection was fine on my old computer. Any way I can fix this? Should I spend the $ on a Genius appt?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new MBP about a week ago and have been loving it so far. Anyway, I've noticed that the keyboard and the LCD are making contact when the lid is closed: while using the computer, you can see very faint streaks of grease, sweat, etc in very, very thin lines. You can wipe it away, but it keeps coming back. Also, when the computer is shut off, I can see prints of where the the screen has been making contact with the keyboard.
1) Is this normal?
2) Is it going to hurt anything?
3) Should I return it? (purchased from Amazon, so shouldn't be a problem.
I got a macbook pro base model last year (2009 model) and my girlfriend just got a macbook base model last weekend (2010 model)Seems as though her macbook has better specs than mine... I'm also considering upgrading to Snow Leopard but don't really see the point.That inertia scroll thing hers does is pretty cool... other than that everything is pretty much the same to the naked eye after a few hours of use.

It sounds like I am breaking it and it does it several times when I close it. When it is closed and I go to the back the black part of the hinge wiggles from side to side.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIt's only today that I noticed my MacBook's right speaker is considerably louder than the one on the left. I opened Sound panel in System Preferences to see if the balance was off, but it was set at dead center. Then, I dragged the balance slider all the way to the left to see if the sound coming from the left speaker was okay at all. Well, it sure isn't. Very muffled, muddy sound. No highs at all. Dragging the slider to the right side reveals a very different sound texture. Very crisp, as it should be. Really weird. Anybody else experiencing this odd speaker behaviour?
I googled for this problem and found this thread, right here on Mac Forums. It's a thread for the MacBook Pros, though. The people with a MacBook Pro think it's because there's a subwoofer on the right side. Well, the MacBook doesn't have a subwoofer, so it can't be that. Any ideas? Is it repair time?
By the way, I have a late 2008 unibody MacBook, the 2,4GHz model.
I have my laptop hooked to my TV so I can watch shows on the internet. The screens were independent until my cat walked on the keyboard and now the two are showing the same screen. How do I change it back?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have two Mac Laptops, 1 is the little white Macbook, the other MBP. We have DSL coming in and then thru a 2wire modem then thru the Airport. The 2 wire modem is connected to a PC. All of this sits about 40 feet from the bar where we use the laptops and is a straight shot.
My problem is that the the newer MBP is stuck in the mud when it comes to connecting, and then holding any type of signal strength with the wireless signal.The older little white MB works great, every bar on the wireless icon is black, on the other (as I type this they are both on and side by side..) only has one.
When pressing Alt/Option and clicking on the wireless icon the good computer shows a transmit rate of somewhere between 20 and 26 when I have checked it several times this morning, the bad one has never been above one.It seems for the price I paid for the Airport Ex. BOTH of these units should be getting full strength signals.Ever had this problem? No of any possible solutions?The fact that the slow one is my wife's machine doesn't make life any easierI figure before I make an Apple reservation I could do a little research myself.
I am attempting to edit two photos. My goal is to take the two photos and place the objects side by side so that both my daughters appear in the same photo.

It's a one time deal so I don't want to pay for it, I just have images of artwork and their respective placards that I'd like to be able to put side by side as one image so it's easier to follow. View 2 Replies View RelatedThis seems an odd problem so I may be missing something -- but the connectors on my two Apple Cinema Displays will not plug into the card side by side. The plastic casing is just a tad too bulky, so you can't quite get the second connector in if the first plug is filled. It's the card that originally came with the computer, a Mac Pro 1,1.

Is there anything in T8 that I might need, TT 6 seems to work fine. I keep reading that nothing much has changed after version as far as typical burning needs. I know that support for newer formats has been added with the later versions so I am asking is T8 even necessary having TT6?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Macbook Pro and I had AT&T help me with the settings in OS X so that I can surf the internet with my modem via ethernet. Everything worked fine. Then I installed Windows XP SP3 with Bootcamp and bought a Linksys Wireless N Router. I used the install disk on the PC side to get the router working, assuming that the Mac side would work just fine when it found the network. Now I can connect to the wireless router when I'm in my PC partition, but when I try using my Mac partition. It does not work. (Ethernet works with both) When using other people's wifi connection, I have no problem. Only at my house do I have this connectivity issue.
View 8 Replies View RelatedSupposedly, the new 27" iMac supports 2 side-by-side safari windows perfectly. However, on mine, they overlap by about 3 inches and if I drag the 2nd window to the right, it does not entirely fit without adjusting the width of one or both windows.
Is there a way I can optimize Safari (or the iMac display settings) for the 27" iMac display so that by default each window takes up exactly 50% of the screen width and a new window will sit perfectly side by side?

There doesn't seem to be much available to accommodate the smaller size. I'm currently using an mStand that I had from owning my just recently sold MBP. I'm considering a TwelveSouth BookArc, but I'm not sure if it will fit the 11" Air. Can anyone confirm this?
I'm looking for something that's not only aesthetically pleasing, but also something with a smaller footprint that will free up some desk space. Please share your thoughts, ideas, opinions, and solutions!

View 18 Replies View RelatedWhen I opened safari my homepage was apple and it opened using the middle of the display with the desktop screensaver visable on both sides of the page now it opens adn takes up the whole screen I don't know how to resize it and save it where it will open to the same all the time. I'm a very new owner of an IMAC and to apple so I'm completely in the dark to mac systems and just stumbling around. I'm a 70 year old guy that's ben drug into the 21 century and trying to keep up (not very good )

I was able to close it with the red button. But I want to know what this text bar was all about and what is the other key a touch (Caps+?)

Does anyone have any experience of these, are they of a decent quality and if so could you recommend one that would be suitable for the MBP 15"?
Secondly each weekend I will be taking this laptop to my boyfriend's house. We'd really like to play some games together but I need some way of setting it up in his hallway. Does anyone own anything like a fold-away laptop table/desk and know where I could find one? It would need to be smallish, just big enough for me to stand the laptop on and have a mouse plugged in. I'm not really sure such a thing exists and my google searches haven't turned up anything suitable but perhaps I'm searching on the wrong terms. The important bit is being able to fold it away after and stick it in a cupboard somewhere.
When you get home at your desk, put your MBP on the table plugging it to an external monitor or not, do you keep it running on WiFi or do you plug in an ethernet cable for your notebook? I am on a 25mbps line in my home and i find that when i plug in the cable my internet connection is more stable, faster and doesn't drop out sometimes. Because, sometimes on Wifi, websites take a little longer to load or it seems to not load at all. While on the ethernet cable everything is just speed of light instant.
I have also noticed that using vmware when i go away from the computer and puts windows to sleep, when i get back, it takes a while for windows to recognize the airport vmware driver and connect back to internet, while with the ethernet cable it is just instant (again). Noticed this while running windows live messenger and the time it takes to connect back. I also noticed that transferring files from my windows vista desktop computer to my macbook was alot faster on ethernet cable than on the wifi connection, even though my router supports 54mbps wifi. So are you guys satisfied with your wifi? Or do you use an ethernet cable for stability? Or am i the only one with minor wifi problems?

I know that you can show facing pages using View>inspector>documents. But, this does not place the pages side by side, Is there any way that say page 1 and page 2 can be shown and worked on side by side so you do not have to scroll up and down to view them?
