Is there ibook app for mac air? My son's school allows him to bring his laptop to school but ipad is not allowed and he has a lot of ibooks. I am thinking to switch to BN e-books if there is no plan to have ibook apps for mac air available soon.
View 2 RepliesI have an iBook (running OS X Tiger) which is wirelessly connected to a home network via a wireless router. On this network I have a Windows PC to which a HP Laserjet 1010 is connected via USB. I would like to be able to share this printer on the Windows PC so that I can print from the iBook.I have set file and print sharing options on the Windows PC. I have then added a new printer in OS X over 'Windows Printing'. OS X sees the printer and allows me to add it after puting in a username and password (I used the 'Guest' username). However when I try and print from the iBook the printer initialises and then procedes to print "%!PS-Adobe-3.0 %RBINumCopies: 1 %%..." and then lots of random letters. I thought that this looked like the iBook wasn't using the right drivers and after checking it appears it is using Generic Printer drivers.

Am I able to boot the iBook via Target Disk Mode on my PowerBook and run the iBook Hardware Test CD on it? Also, can I reboot my PowerBook and choose the iBook as the startup volume?
I know how to do Target Disk Mode but the latter I'm not sure about.
My brother's iBook G4 (800Mhz, First Rev) has completely splattered itself and we're getting a new Macbook for him under insurance. My iBook G3 (White, 900Mhz G3..the last G3 Rev of the iBook) has a failing hard drive.
Now, could I swap out those two drives, at least to recover stuff? And is there a specific method of opening up the iBook G4 so that I don't break stuff (I've already messed with my G3..and ended up with a dozen extra screws ^_^
Mainly the aim is to salvage the hard drive and swap them out; replacing my faulty iBook G3 one with the iBook G4 one which is perfectly fine.
My iBook G4 power supply failed and I'm awaiting a replacement. In the mean time, can I use the power supply from my iBook G3 with the iBook G4?

How much faster would the G4 be over my G3. I figure that after selling my G3, the G4 would only be another $200ish on top of it. Would this be worth it?
I just bought a parts ibook from ebay, but I managed to fix it, except there was no hard drive. I currently have a 6 GB HD in it with OS X.3.9 on it, but I want tiger. I have the tiger family pack, so I have a license for it. It only has a CD-ROM drive, so I am wondering if I can buy a 40 GB HD, and clone the one from my G4 onto it.

So, I'll spare you guys the details, haha, but I am stuck trying to decide between getting an iMac Intel or a MacBook Pro for my home use computer. What would be the advantages of one over the other? I just really love the fact that a MacBook Pro would be portable yet powerful. And yes, I have this iBook for portability to school and such, but if I want to do extensive work on the couch, I could bring a MBP vs. an iMac. What do you all think? Are too laptops redundant?

This was my first Mac, I got it in August, but it seems to be showing its Geekbench score of 762. Launching programs is often agonizing, and the Finder is sluggish. Also, 1024x768 is getting a tad cramped...
Anyway, a friend of the family stopped by today, bringing over his MacBook for me to play with. It seems great, especially the size, and the widescreen display is terrific. Running Windoze would actually be a huge benefit for me, because my idiotic sister hates Macs, and of course I need to keep the little princess happy.

I have read that you can use a 3.5mm jack to 3 RCA cable to watch video, but will the same work for just audio?

When I was looking into getting a new computer, I decided to wait, so that I would be able to get the newer Macbook, but now that I've had it, I keep looking back at the iBook, and I think to myself how much money I could potentially get for downgrading to an iBook, and I love the idea of the older PowerPC computer for some reason. (Basically, I could always think that my Macbook is outdated or have the BEST iBook possible. Course, my usage on either computer would be exactly the same, although I'm sure the iBook would be a tad slower.

how do I transfer all of my data from my ibook to my new macbook pro? I just bought a western digital 250 gb hard drive and I already just backed up all of my ibook stuff on the external hard drive.
So i assume once my new laptop comes in, I just plug in the external hard drive to the macbook pro and transfer it. Is it really that simple or am I missing something? Will all of my pictures and music go directly into iphoto and itunes or will I have to mannually do that? That would be a real pain if I had to manually do it.
Ok, i just bought an imac and need a mac laptop for school, and im not sure what to do. 1 I sell my imac on ebay, and cut the loss and add a few hundred to cover the price of the macbook. 2 i take that couple hundred i was going to use to buy the macbook and buy an ibook g3. I compared it to my 2003 plastic iBook, and the iBook is SILENT compared to the new MacBook.
I checked the iStat Pro stats, and the fan is around 2000rpm and the temps are normal.
