MacBook Air :: Is It Normal For The Mac Numbers App To Be Taking Up 99.7% Of CPU
Apr 2, 2012
I have just downloaded Numbers for mac, I have a Macbook Air, July 2011, Mac OS X (10.7.3), 1.7Ghz Intel Core i5 4 GB DDR3. I have opened numbers, and it is sucking up CPU, if I click on something, it jumps up to 99.7%!! I currently have two sheets open, one with a text box, empty graph and empty table, the other sheet, just an empty table.. When I click on anything, the app locks up and i get a pinwheel. (until it sorts itself out, a good while later!)Â

I've been ripping my hair out trying to find the answer to this.
In Numbers for Mac, I need to fill a column automatically with a series of integers (1 - 50) and then the next column with a function that interacts with the first column.
For example:
Column A - 1 - 5
Column B - (value in Column A * 5)
I can't figure out how to do it in Numbers When I try to fill column a with 1 - 50 all it does is fill all 1's and I cant find an option how to make that change so it automatically numbers when I highlight them.
The best I can describe is how in Excel you can type 1 in the first cell, then highlight a bunch of cells and the little box appears that lets you click "Fill Series"
See above title. i get that there's the "degree(cell)" function, but there has to be an easier way to change the settings so you can just input in degrees rather than radians.
like how calculators have a degrees and radians mode, i find it so hard to believe that there isn't one in numbers. if there really isn't, this is an incredibly flawed program.
I've recently switched from the dark side to Apple and am converting an Excel spreadsheeet. The spreadshet keeps track of subscriptions, things that a re due once a year, etc.. One of the spreasheet's formulas uses 'NOW()'.. The user can specify a day-range, like 15, so that the spreadsheet would highlight due dates within 15 days..  MS handles dates in serial numbers which allows date comparisons ( I'm guessing you already know all of this ) .. anyway, For example, the user enters the renewal or due date in a certain cell and then the next cell would subtract that date's serial number from the current date's serial number using something like 'B3-NOW()'.. The resulting number could be cast to an integer and compared to the '15' .. and if the result is less than that, aka 'due within 15 days', then the cell would be highlighted red.. I gave up on the conditional formatting but I don't know how to use the equivalent of 'NOW()'..

I am building a rendering of a catering facility I am working with and need to create some funky tables for my template. how I could get more shapes in to numbers to choose from?Â
Ive recently purchased a macbook pro, I previously had one with snow leapord on it, this new one has lion, Ive just noticed it doesnt seem to have pages or numbers installed, is this correct?
i have a macbook air mid 2013..os x yosemite 10.10
I have a problem with the application "pages" and "numbers". on the app store there is an update for each one, but the download does not start. Even if I delete the app and redownload again, the download gets stuck. i can't use these apps.
Got a weird problem. I store alot of documents on my iDisk so I can access them on either my MacBook Air or my iMac. It has worked great for several years.
I'm using Numbers '08 on both computers and both computers are completely updated.
Several weeks ago, the MacBook Air quit allowing me to open a Numbers document stored on Mobile Me. When I try to open a Numbers doc, I get a message saying, "The document could not be opened."
However, all is fine on my iMac. All numbers documents will open as normal from Mobile Me.
Also, other types of documents will open fine on the MacBook Air from Mobile Me i.e. Preview, Pages.
I tried copying a Numbers doc from Mobile Me to the Air, but I get an error stating, "The operation can be completed because and unexpected error occurred(error code -8084)."
Also, If I'm not dealing with Mobile Me, Numbers seems to work fine on the Air. I can create documents and open them fine.
In desperation, I did a clean install on the Air, but to no avail. I still have the same problem.
I can't think of anything I did to the Air to make it suddenly quit opening docs from Mobile Me.
I just made the transition from PC and bought a MBP Santa Rosa 2.2Ghz Duo with 2 keys(the cursor down and right) that do not work. Presumably the entire keyboard needs replacement. Does anyone know if 922-8035 the same as 922-7183? Several sites advertise them together, and others individually. The reason this is important is the price discrepancy, plus I want to get a Russian (Cyrillic) keyboard and there is a good one listed as 922-7183 but I want to make sure it is the same as 922-8035.
Does anyone have a link to a chart of the various screen resolutions and their corresponding dpi numbers? I have been trying to find one and have been woefully unsuccessful thus far. I would just like to compare the different resolutions of computers I have, and have used, vs. the new mpb resolutions.
When I am using programs like 'Finder' and I'm trying to select different options, for some reason the words such as, 'Arrange by', 'Date created' etc have all changed to number and letter codes, I don't know how I've done this or how to change it back. They all still work if you select them, I just can't read what I'm selecting.
I have found a previous conversation, see community converation titled:Â Label Y-Axis as letters, not numbers?
it describes how to do what I want. I understand this described process but I cannot figure out where to place the "lookup" formula for it to work. Do I select the whole table, one column, etc. I have tried to recreate the screen shot sample but get stumped at the formula placement. I need to graph reading levels from a-z with the y-axis being letters not numbers and this old conversation has created this. I have been searching the web for 4 hours and got no where until I found this discussion and now I am so close...
My iMessage on my Macbook Air is not working. It is saying that no numbers are registered with iMessage, when i know they are because i am texting them off iMessage with my iPhone. Also, i am not receiving any of my text messages from my iPhone to my iMessage on my macbook.
So, like a complete idiot i downloaded a torrent file with a few thousand font files. i installed them all and it has bogged down my OS and taken over programs like Safari, firefox and entourage (which i use for email). when i change the font in the preference menu in the respective program it will change the size but not the actual font style. another strange thing is that safari will not load pictures now either.
i want to just wipe the hdd but i do not have a disc because i bought it used. i can take it back to the guy i got it from as he refurbishes macs but i was wondering if i could avoid the trip if any one has a tip or two for me.
I just ordered a new Macbook Pro (with Retina Display). It's my first MBP since 2007.I'm super excited about it, minus one glaring issue. My harddrive is the baseline 251 GB SSD. I've hardly used the thing besides loading some music and movies onto it. However, when I look at the'About this Mac' window, it says I'm using 51.89GB in Other.Compared to only 11GB in Movies and 2GB in Audio. It's hard for me to believe that the operating system takes up a whopping 50GB..How can I account for this Other section?

I have problems synchronizing nextel numbers in my country starting with number 51.I start to sync with itune and ends normally but, in reviewing my contacts in Outlook appear but only with nextel number of fixed and mobile numbers.
I was trying to open an existing Numbers document saved to my desktop. It took me to the App Store, but I didn't have access to a Wireless network. If it needed an update, why does it require the update to open an existing/previously saved document?Â
