So my Macbook Air 11" was plugged in all night, was using it this morning plugged in. Battery was at 100%. Unplugged it but left it closed all day (7am to 4pm)opened up up and battery indicator says 9% is gone and it's busy charging away now. I have noticed this over a few days now.
Thats a little harsh no? It's supposed to last 30 days or whatever when its sleeping but it won't last a week at this rate.
I make an SMC-Update in July. At this time, when close my book i lost in a time of 10 hours 25-40 % battery!
Before i install the update, i only charge my battery every 2-3 weeks. Since this update every 2 days.
What can i do?? I make an Smc reset, install Mavericks again, install yosemite....

My question is the 15 battery seems to drain alot while sleeping. last night I was around maybe 40% and went to bed and now its 0%. coconut battery says 100% health. The 17 did not drain that much over night.
I will check it out tonight just to make sure I was right re the charge before bed.
I calibrated it last week.
Any thoughts? both 15 and 17 should get the same battery time?
I have a MBP i7. I'm pretty sure I was able to charge the iPhone when my macbook sleeping both on battery and plugged in. But now I can only do that when it's plugged in. Any suggestion how can I charge the iPhone with the macbook sleeping on its battery?

Earlier today the battery was at 80% i just opened the mac up to write a email and closed it right back.. about 3 hours later the battery dropped down to 76%..
Seems kind of hight 4% for 3hours.
I purchased a Macbook Air 2011 in December. It came with Lion preinstalled and it is up-to-date. Sometimes I experience excessive battery drains when the computer is asleep (lid closed), i.e. 40%-50% battery charge gone overnight.
This is not an expected behavior. The battery seems to perform well when the system is running, i.e. it last for 5-6 or more hours, so I think the problem is with the sleep mode. How can I diagnose sleep problems? Is this due to WiFi or running programs?

I bought the new macbook pro 3 days ago--not the one with the retina display; I dont need that--and was hoping to get close to 7 hours of battery life. After 3 days of use, my battery now has an average life of less than 4 hours.
Should I contact Apple about it? I know that the add says battery time may vary, but by 3 hours?

I recently purchased a 17" Mid-2010 MBP and put in 8GB and a OCZ Vertex 2 SSD drive. Ever since the upgrades and clean install of OS X, my system seems to not like to go to sleep when the battery gets low.Example, I was surfing the net earlier and the battery got down to 5% and I didn't get any type of warning that the battery was low. It went all the way down to 1% and then 0% and then just shut off instead of putting itself into sleep mode like it did before the harddrive and memory upgrade.

I recently resolved a problem where it wouldn't go to sleep by itself if left inactive on battery power (regardless of energy settings) by resetting the SMC and PRAM/NVRAM but now something else has popped up. Now, whenever I cycle my battery down to past the low battery warning popup, it just eventually completely dies. Shouldn't it go to sleep first? That's what my old iBook G4 would do. I doubt it's something related to the SMC or PRAM/NVRAM since I just reset those. What else can I do? I'm pretty sure my MacBook should still have enough juice go to sleep.

But I'm now getting 3:10 with screen half light, and wifi on, bt off, doing a bit of downloading, etc. I've recalibrated the battery a number of times. According to activity monitor my cpu is hovering under 10% when I'm doing my battery test. This is at least 2 hours less than I was originally getting. Coconut Battery tells me that the original capacity was 4100, but its currently at 4052. Battery load-cycles are at 97 and it says the Mac is 5 months old. Should I take it in to the Apple store under AppleCare?

View 18 Replies View RelatedI have the 13" MacBook Pro with the beefiest processor and a 500GB HDD. When I bought the machine, I quizzed the guy at the store about a couple of things. In particular I asked about the battery life. He told me apple claims that this machine should have 7 hours of battery life when doing light tasks, but that he personally was able to squeeze out over 8 hours of battery life with simple web browsing.
My problem is that I can barely get 3,5 hours worth of batterylife out of the machine before it gives up the ghost. And this is with the backlight on the display turned down to 1/3 of full brightness. And all I'm doing is browsing text webpages with no flash. Is this normal? Or have I simply overlooked some basic power option that I need to toggle?
I turned my computer on at 4:05pm. I made sure it was charged to 100% before I unplugged the power supply. People I know with a 2010 13" MBP doing about the same activities as me are experiencing much longer battery time, around 7 hours.
I just got this 13-inch MacBook Pro on Friday. Everything I've read absolutely raves about the battery life. However, I only get about 2 hours per charge; I got waaaaay longer on my year-old MacBook I just sold. I have Firefox and Pages running, but nothing else. Am I doing something wrong?

I have tried to change settings in energy saver to improve battery life but its still the same. I ve noticed that when it shows AMD graphics in about my mac, it takes more battery life. So, I guess its using more battery at that time. Ive read it switches automatically depending on the task but is there anyway to change it in settings?
Also, how is it possible to get the best possible battery life? Should I keep charging and discharging it every now and then.? Currently I unplug the adapter as soon as it gets fully charged and the battery last for over 2 hours (surfing, listening to music, half an hour of video).

rMBP charged overnight and I woke up at 7am and disconnected it, it is 9:30am and my battery is already at 34%. What ca I do? Only running Safari although a good portion of the morning was youtube videos. Still with some YT video playbacks here and there, should it drain this quickly?

I can't seem to get 3 hours of life out of this battery and I wanted to know if I was alone on this. I've drained it multiple times and my capacity is at 4829. Sure, with the screen dimmed all the way and everything turned off I can reach 4 hours, but that's not why I purchased this machine. With my screen on max, no bluetooth, and WiFi on, I struggle to get 3 hours. This is with normal web-browsing, typing in word, etc. Forget about watching a movie, because the time remaining will just drop like a rock. I don't recall what the max capacity was on these batteries. If it's 5200, then I'm already at ~93%. At what point do I go into Apple to demand a new one?

According to this report, the MBP got around 3&1/2hrs of run time with a dimmed screen and watching videos. From a full charge, I start browsing the internet (no videos at all), and my battery reading read as follows
91% 1hr, 16mins
90% 1hr, 20mins
89% 1hr, 24mins
87% 1hr, 23mins
Not only were the readings all over the place, but even from a full near charge I wasn't even getting an estimate of 2hrs, while Apple advertised 4 for the late 2008 model, and the review I linked to says they got 3&1/2. Do I have a bad battery, or does simply running the 9600 reduce the battery life by such a drastic amount? I have already calibrated my battery following the guide on the Apple website.
