i know safari is default cuz its apple and all.. but what do you guys have as a separate option:
Google Chrome
Firefox 3.5
Firefox 4 Beta
Opera
Just safari
just curious.. wanting to put a browser but not too sure. (on my desktop PC, i have firefox 4), but i would like to know
I read Chrome is supposed to be basic and less resource hungry so I downloaded it and installed it. It is very fast but I have two issues with it. The first is how it does not warn you if you are going to close multiple tabs (I've heard the PC version just added the feature a week ago but who knows?). The bigger issue is that Chrome is ungodly resource hungry or I just do not know how to read a computer...it shows at any given moment that at least 6 Google Chrome processes are running and they take up substantial memory. Below is a pic of the activity monitor (there are 4 more Google processes lower down which I couldnt photo).
View 3 Replies View RelatedGoogle and any searches using the address bar in google chrome do not load at all sometimes. I experience this problem only at home and only sometimes. Everything works perfectly in my university labs. It fails on other browsers like Firefox and Safari as well. Strange this is that all the other sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, engadget all load up properly.

Sometimes it does load the main page, but very slowly and any link I click starts loading forever but without any success.
Does anyone know what the problem could possibly be? I have already called the site and they told me they are not experiencing problems. In addition, it does load on Windows...
I'm running Safari 5.02 on a 15" Macbook Pro running 10.6.6. ALL TOO OFTEN I will attempt to access a page [URL] and it will not load. All I get is an eternal spinning wheel. I have to launch Chrome or Firefox to achieve success and they load the page without any difficulty.  I've suspected flash content conflict but have installed all the latest updates, but still no success.

Ever since upgrading to Lion 10.7.4 we are having issues with images loading in Safari ,Chrome and Firefox and the App store. Sometimes not even the page will load. Our internet speed is up to par so we are pretty sure it's not a

I’ll try to be as specific as I can. I’m running Safari 5.1.7Â
From time to time, Safari seems to encounter a problem with opening https (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure). Either the page won’t open or the page will take deveral minutes to load (like four minutes to load Twitter home page).Â
When it happens, it seems to cause Safari the misbehave with any other page: Safari becomes in effect broken. Meanwhile, pages load normally in Chrome or Firefox. Â
Sometimes, restarting the computer will fix the problem (for a while), but sometime it doesn’t. I’ve also tried to empty Safari’s cache and flush its DNS. It doesn’t always work. I coming here because I restarted by computer half an hour ago and pages are still loading in Safari.Â
Other valuable information:Â
1) The problem with https existed prior to me upgrading to 5.1.7
2) I can be using Safari for days before I encounter the problem
3) I usually work with thre or four windows open, each loaded with about ten tabs.Â

What does this mean and why is it happening? Is it normal? Doesn't happen with safari, but safari has been bugging out; doesn't quit properly. I have a mid 2011 imac 21.5.

I use Safari as a browser. I once downloaded google Chrome but have since deleted it from my applications. In spite of deleting it, every time I open Safari, it downloads Chrome again, slowing Safari performance.Â

I get this ad every time I load the page. I figured it was a cookie problem so I searched my cookies for 'Google' and deleted all the results. I'm still getting it. It's not happening in Firefox, only Safari. It's been there since Friday or Saturday. Am I the only one?
View 2 Replies View RelatedCertain webistes like [URL], take ages to load after i login. I have cleaned my cache , deleted cookies,etc.... In the apple store everything works fine , but not at home. When using other PC's / notebooks it all works fine, except my own Macbook. Other browsers on my Mc , have the same problem.

I've noticed recently some odd behavior regarding google chrome and my download stacks in the dock. I have my download stacks folder set so that the most current downloaded object shows up as a preview (ex. if its a pdf a photo of the pdf appears).
However recently I've noticed that when i download some .rar files or mp3's, the preview in the stacks icon is just a blank text document. its not until i click the stack and it fans out that i see that a preview of my downloaded file (ex. mp3 will show its album art).
when i click the stack again and the items fan back into the stack, the preview once again turns back into a blank document image instead of the corresponding mp3 image.
So we OS X users haven't been able to get our hands on Google Chrome, yet, but apparently there's this new browser set to fill that void called "Stainless."
I've tried it out and it seems pretty good, but I'm interested in seeing its benchmarks in comparison to Chrome. I'm lovin' the GUI of Stainless!
I did a google search but couldn't find it - does anyone have a link so I can down download it as I fancy giving it a try.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if anyone has run into the problem I'm having with Google Chrome. One day last week it just wouldn't load anymore. i can click it and it will appear in my taskbar like its running, but no go on the UI. I've "googled it".... the problem that is... wow googling a problem with google. What are we coming to? Anyway, I've seen some stuff about it not running on Windows XP, but nothing about MAC.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been using Google Chrome for ages and never really had a problem with it until lately, I prefer it to Safari or Firefox etc.
Lately I've found that it's crashing frequently, sometimes webpages just won't load (it will load the title bar and just leave an empty white space on the actual content), and more and more frequently I'm getting the flash plugin crash message come up on it.
I have the latest version of Chrome, and have re-downloaded it and installed it again, repaired permissions etc, but nothing seems to help.
Anyone else come across this or know of a possible resolution?

I recently bought a 13" MacBook Pro and I've been using Safari as my default browser. Before I got my Macbook and used a Windows 7 laptop, Google Chrome was my default browser. I still wanna use it as my default browser but not sure if it's as good for the Macbook as it is for Windows. I know both are fast browsers but which is the best one for the Macbook? Should I stick with Safari or should I switch to Google Chrome?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs any one have issues with Google Chrome? For some reason it keeps crashing on the start up.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am using Google Chrome 8.0.552.215 on my Mac (running OSX 10.6.5). I can't get Chrome sync working properly. I had everything setup and working properly this morning between my iMac and my Mac Pro, but then I noticed that my bookmarks didn't import properly from Firefox (I'd imported my bookmarks from Firefox into Chrome on my Mac Pro just prior to initially setting up Chrome Sync).
I decided to delete all of the bookmarks from Chrome on my Mac Pro, then immediately reimport them a second time (making sure to fix the issue that caused my initial problem this second time around). For some strange reason, this has somehow completely screwed up Chrome sync, which doesn't sync anything anymore (bookmarks, extensions, etc...) I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome, but still no luck!
I've logged into my Google Dashboard and deleted all of the Chrome Sync Data, waited a good half hour, then tried setting up Chrome sync again... Google Dashboard does show that data is being synced from this first machine, but then when I set it up on the second computer (with a completely clean install of Chrome), the data never makes it there! I am at a complete loss here. I've even tried using an alternate Google Account, but that didn't work either!
