Hardware :: Wireless Keyboard Not Turning On?
Dec 25, 2008
My new apple wireless keyboard is not turning on. I installed the batteries numerous times and it still will not power on. I'm not seeing a green LED light, does anyone know how/what this problem is and how I can resolve it?

I have an apple wireless mouse (bluetooth, of course!) and it doesn't turn on. I got no idea what kind it is. But it isn't the new mighty mouse. When I push in the little button underneth the mouse's laser, the mouse light blinks, and connects sussesfuly. It works fine. But if I let go of the button, it doesn't stay on. It instantly turns off

I have changed both sets of batteries. Turned them off and back on multiple times. Only reason I am able to ask this question is because I'm using my phone. I need my computer back. No I don't have a wired mouse or keyboard laying around. The mouse isn't registering or moving on the screen. The keyboard was working until I tried turning it off and back on. Now nothing is working.

I bought a new i7 iMac about two months ago and love it but the Bluetooth keyboard it came with recently started acting up. It randomly disconnects and when it does it will type whatever letter I last hit on the keyboard repeatly.

I've just bought a Mac mini to use as a media centre, and I picked up the Apple wireless keyboard and mouse while I was at it. It wasn't until I got home that I read the "requirements" section on the side of the mouse and keyboard boxes, where it states that an existing keyboard and mouse are needed for setup.
I have a USB mouse, but no keyboard (my other Mac is a MBP), and nowhere to borrow one from (all my friends have laptops).

Bluetooth says my keyboard is paired, configured, and connected (and it works).Keyboard under System Preferences says "no keyboard found" and it continues to search for the keyboard. I have rebooted and also deleted and added the keyboard. Should I be concerned? Does the iMac need service ?

I was just wondering what all of your thoughts were regarding these two keyboards. I know I can't get the Wireless Pro new anymore, however I can get it used for $20 from someone I know.
The new aluminum one however, I can get for about $40 used or just buy a new one for $70. I'm looking to buy a used one so it's pretty much the Wireless Pro for $20 vs the Wireless Aluminum for $40.
This will be going towards a set-up with my MBP which will be on an mstand, with an external monitor. I've already gotten the Magic Mouse so I'm trying to find a nice Bluetooth keyboard to compliment it.

I just picked up a new Mac Pro today, and with it a wireless keyboard. I have not opened the keyboard yet as I think I may prefer the one that came with my Pro. I particularly like the keypad. What do you guys think? How is the tactile feel of the wireless keyboard vs. the stocker?

I've been using the wireless keyboard to the new iMad for a couple of weeks now and I don't seem to be acclimating to it very well. When held next to a full size keyboard, it is the same size; however, it doesn't seem to be when I'm typing. I keep missing keys or striking the wrong keys.
The short stroke of the keys is disconcerting.
I miss the number pad and the home, end, and other keys under the (old) F13, F14, and F15 keys. The lack of numbering of the Function keys is also a pain. Having to use the fn with other keys is a pain too.
I can't seem to get used to the size and position of the arrow keys. I miss having a specific delete key. Having to use the fn with backspace is irritating.
Why do I continue to use it? Novelty, I guess. Anyway, what I'd like to know is if any of you guys started out the same way and eventually actually like it better than the old style keyboard?
Should I continue trying or just say fuggit and buy a wired keyboard.? You needn't answer that. That's a rhetorical question.
I realize that a laptop has the same idiosyncrasies and everyone gets used to them.
I DO like the new mouse, but I still prefer the 8 button Logitech. If the new mouse only had a back button, I'd find it more to my liking.

Does anyone know if there's a way to get "10 key touch" out of a BT Alu Apple keyboard? Sort of like on Laptops you can hold function and the right side of your keyboard becomes numbers?
I tried this and it does not work, it would be nice to have this functionality.

I turned on my MacBook and started to use the wireless Aluminum Keyboard. I went to change the track in iTunes with the F9 key...it triggered expose.
None of the shortcuts are the same on the Function keys. How do I reset them back to the way they were?

Along with a first mac mouse, I am also looking to buy a keyboard for my MBP for use at home when connected to the 24" screen.
The big question is however, the small wireless or the fullsized wired apple keyboard?
Are therer any issues with the bluetooth connection? Like, does the MPB need to have booted completely before it is "active" or will it be active from the boot chime? (this could be usefull when needing to boot into bootcamp )

I'm not complaining about the new wireless keyboard. I'm just after some other peoples' thoughts about it.
I just bought my first Mac - a 27" iMac w/ 8GB RAM. It's one hell of a sweet machine and I'm loving using it. Obviously, it came with the new wireless keyboard and magic mouse (which I don't use but that's a different story).
Both work flawlessly but I'm curious about what people think re Apple's decision to make the keyboard without a number pad, arrows in a different place, home/end keys etc.
I'm a pretty heavy Photoshop user and and have formed a whole lot of habits around shortcuts, one of which is the use of the arrow keys to nudge objects/layers/whatever - I'm used to the arrow keys being in a specific place.
With designers/creatives being such a large part of Apple's user base, why do you reckon they did away with the "full" right side of the standard keyboard? I've got a full size wired one which solves this "problem" but ... well ... it's wired.
