Hardware :: What Is Accidental Drag With Magic Trackpad?

Aug 7, 2010

So occassionally you'll be moving the pointer and you'll find you end up moving folders in the finder or the Mail application. That means that it thinks it's using tap to click but it's not and there's no way I'm applying enough pressure to activate the buttons.

Hardware :: Magic Trackpad - Dragging / Drag Lock

Jul 29, 2010

I recently got the magic trackpad. I am wondering if there is a trick to get the dragging and drag lock to work. I have it set to tap click and that worked perfect, but I am not able to get the dragging to always work. I have tried tapping different spots on the screen and even double tap at different rates with no help.

MacBook Pro :: Having Trouble With Accidental Trackpad Input

Nov 13, 2009

I have been having trouble with accidental trackpad input on my Macbook Pro mid-2009, and I can't find any way to deal with it in the trackpad preference pane. I seem to remember that there was a way to turn on "ignore accidental input" but I can't find it now. Anyone seen that in Snow Leopard 10.6.2?

Hardware :: Magic Mouse & Magic Trackpad Use With Imac

I'm looking to get either a Magic Mouse or the Magic trackpad to use with my iMac. Do they both work with Windows? My wife uses Windows Vista on bootcamp for work. Also, I do play some games, nothing heavy duty.Any other thoughts or suggestions would be helpful, especially concerning the magic trackpad as my experience with it is approximately 10 minutes at my local Apple store.

Hardware :: Magic Mouse Not Allowing Me To Hold And Drag Windows/items?

Jul 7, 2010

Ok so just recently ive been having this weird problem with my magic mouse.

Everytime i hold down the left side of the mouse to drag a window or a file for example, it doesnt seem to actually 'hold on', and instead the cursor just carries on moving around as normal. Occasionally it will 'hold on' for a split second or two, but then lets go and drops the window/file etc i am trying to move, even while i still have the left side of the mouse pressed down.

Anybody have any ideas what this could be?

The mouse is only a few weeks old and ive checked for dirt on the sensor, but it all appears to be clean

Hardware :: Adjusting Delay After Three Finger Drag On Trackpad?

Aug 10, 2010

Got my new magic trackpad, its amazing! I have one thing that I would like a bit more control over. When you do a 3 finger drag, it has a delay afterwards to help you correct your selection if you need to. This is a brilliant usability function and I use it often. But I would really like to be able to adjust how long this delay is. It's about a second at the moment, it would be awesome if it was halved. Anyone know where you could do this in the terminal?

Applications :: Jitouch Magic Trackpad

Aug 24, 2010

I'm using Jitouch 2 on my MacBook Pro for a couple of weeks now and it's just amazin.Since my new iMac arrived yesterday, i was wondering whether anyone has already tested the beta version of Jitouch 2 where support for the new Magic Trackpad was added.

"We're glad to announce that jitouch 2.3 beta now supports Magic Trackpad. But unfortunately, due to the new Apple's Magic Trackpad and Multi-Touch Trackpad Update 1.0, some of the gestures in jitouch no longer work properly and a few of them may be permanently removed from the next version of jitouch. We are currently working on updating our software and adding the next "cool" Magic Trackpad features."

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Login With Magic Trackpad?

Apr 19, 2012

I recently got myself a Magic Trackpad for my TV-computer(a Mac mini running 10.7.3). It seems to work fine, but there's an annoying problem. I can't use it to click on things on the login screen. When I've logged in I can click around on various items, but not on the login screen and since this computer have a couple of family accounts it's a bit annoying. I can move around the pointer so it's not entirely dead, but I can't click making it a bit hard to choose the account you want to login as.Is this how it's supposed to work or is there some setting I've missed?

Now that both have been out for a few months has one shown to be better than the other? I like the looks of the MTP and fact the surface is larger. I like the fact the Bamboo is USB and has 4 hard buttons. Prime importance though is work flow. So which one wins out there -- or is it a tie?

IMac :: Mighty Mouse Or Magic Trackpad?

Dec 27, 2010

I recently got a preowned iMac which came with the Apple Wired Keyboard (with numeric keypad) and a Logitech mouse. Ive always been a fan of the idea of the Mighty Mouse even although it is old, the Magic Mouse looks really classy and cool but I do do a lot of graphic design and I am on the Mac quite a lot and I have heard it can get rather uncomfortable. And the Magic Trackpad, I am honestly not too sure about at all, what do you guys think would be best for me? I am a new Mac user so I am unsure what would be best for different features, thanks

Hardware :: Trackpad Alternatives To Magic Mouse?

Mar 4, 2010

After many years of using a PeeCee for my personal machine, I've switched over to Mac. I've never been a fan of trackpads for pointers/mice until I purchased my uMBP (2 weeks ago today). The MBP trackpad is the first trackpad I've used and liked.

I have played with the magic mouse a few times, and I just don't like the operation of it. It's too low to the desktop and I'd prefer something that is stationary for "mousing"...

Is there a good trackpad alternative for the desktops that uses identical gestures to the uMBP trackpad? I've seen the Wacom Bamboo family and see that they support gestures -- but I don't know if the gestures are identical between something like this and the uMBPs trackpad.

Hardware :: Magic Trackpad Helpful For Arthritis?

Jul 29, 2010

I realise this might be a bit soon after its release to have any meaningful information but as someone who suffers from arthritis in my right shoulder and wrist (I'm right handed) anything to ease things over longer use would be well worth it.

Currently I get by ok with my Logitech MX laser 1000, SteerMouse to map common functions to buttons per app (fantastic bit of software this), using my left hand for keyboard short cuts, correct height chair/desk and taking a break every so often but I can't help but feel there must be a better solution. Is the new Magic Trackpad something that I may get any benefit from? I've never used a Mac notebook recent enough to have multi-touch input so I can't even use that as a guide.

MacBook :: Trackpad Unable To Highlight Or Drag Things / Internet Is Very Slow

Apr 3, 2009

My trackpad is now having some troubles on my Alu macbook. I can't highlight or drag things anymore. Occasionally it will work but it will be jerky and only highlight bits that I don't necessarily need. This is vital for me as I need to copy parts of statutes etc. as I'm in law school. I think I have installed the firmware update but I'm not entirely sure - if someone could link me to it that'd be grand.

My internet on campus is also extremely slow.. It doesn't have anything to do with the signal either. We have an Apple reseller on campus who said it might be a problem with the airport card.

Basically - should I take it in? Obviously it has some issues but I don't know if I'm being too pedantic or what..
