Final Cut Pro X :: 10.1 Corrupt Project File

Jun 24, 2014

I was editing a music video last night and finished the edit. I then began to do my color grading. I use Magic Bullet Looks and was using Neat Video Noise Reducer as well. Nothing out of the norm as far as my workflow goes. I got about half way finished with color and turned my computer off when i went to bed. This morning when i reopened fcpx the project loaded but showed a few spots of the timeline that needed to render (the orange bars). BUt once i clicked inside my timeline fcpx froze and i would have to force quit the program.. I have tried uplugging the drive that the events and projects are saved on and opening fcpx that way..it works and other projects from other drives are working fine but when i plug the drive with the corrupted project it loads the project in the timeline but still freezes every single time i click in the timeline and the render percentage is stuck at 0%....Every once in a while when i try it will render about 9 to 30 % then freeze again..

Final Cut Pro X :: Corrupt File Won't Allow Project To Open?

Dec 9, 2014

I have been working on a project for school fine until today. When I tried to resize the FCPX layout I got a white screen and then it crashed and I had to force quit it (see image).

Having tried to reopen it I just get the beach ball and have to force quit each time. I have tried other macs in the room and it is the same. Other projects appear to open fine, so it seems that a file with the project might be corrupt?

I have attached images of the package contents . The school system is set up so that we have to save on external drives and any work on the mac is wiped as soon as you log out so auto saves are a no-go

Final Cut Pro X :: Corrupt Event File Persists After Removal

Aug 24, 2014

I have an event file that when selected crashes the app. I don't need it, but cannot select it to delete it.

I opened the package contents of the Library and found the offending file, and successfully moved it to my trash. However, it still appears in the event list when I restart FCP X (version 10.1.3). I have attempted to close the library and reopen it, close the app and reopen it, but still it persists.

Is there a way to force the library to rebuild itself, or something else that will remove it from the event list? (FYI it appears with a warning triangle).

Final Cut Pro :: Unable To Start While Opening Project File / Deleted Com.applet Preferences

Sep 25, 2008

I am having weird problems with Final Cut Pro 5.1.4 and it's functionality with Snow Leopard.

Based on feedback I found online, I am being told to delete the com.apple.FinalCut Preferences and the /User Data folder. Still, I have to do that repeatedly. Whenever I open the Project file externally , FCP jams. Afterwards, it won't start up again.

Also, it is claiming not to recognize an DVCPro HD 1080i60 connection ; although, this is the same camera on my G5 Mac with FCP 5.1.4 and OSX Tiger

Final Cut Pro X :: 10.1.3 Project Vanishes When New Project Created In Same Event

Aug 30, 2014

I've been working on avery complicated project all day with multiple layered clips with key frame animations, colour effects etc. All was fine until I opened a new project in the same event which I was going to use to create some effects sequences for the main project. When I went back to the original project it was empty. Tried the Undo function in case I had done anything stupid but it was greyed out. Went to the FCPX backups and the last file was almost 2 hours old but did not have any sign of this project. The only thing I have left is all the imported media.

Using FCPX 10.1.3. This is really annoying as all I have left is an h264 file of the almost complete project and it will be almost impossible to start from scratch.

Applications :: Project File Is Missing From IMovie HD / Unable To Open Project

Jul 7, 2009

Alright so I was making this video that was really really really difficult to do and I got to like 3:00 of it today and I've been saving, then it just freezes and refuses to do anything. I then realise my external drive somehow turned off for a random reason, so I plugged it back in and it started working again, but then I reopened my project and I get this error

http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/2497/picture3fgd.png

I click on ignore all and it's all in the trash, and what really pisses me off about this is that it took me weeks and weeks and weeks of time to do, there's no way I can redo this all over again. What can I do to get rid of the skipped message and make it all work again

Final Cut Pro X :: 10.1.2 Crashes - Library Corrupt / Yellow Triangle

Jun 28, 2014

FCP X 10.1.2 just completely crashed - showing a white screen of death.

Now after restarting, the event I was working on shows a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark and my project is gone. Not even listed any more.

I have already repaired the hard drive and trashed the flexolibrary file but that didn't work.

Previous versions of FCP X had a backup-folder but in 10.1.2 I can't find it any more. It seems one week of hard work has just vanished.

Final Cut Pro X :: Importing Old Project Files?

Sep 1, 2014

I have a new Mac Pro running Maverick bought when my IMac running Leopard died on me. The reason I never upgraded the old IMac was because of FCP 6 which I did not want to lose. I backed up regularly onto Time Machine and kept my FCP project files on an external hard drive

I was part way through editing a project when my IMac died. I bought 7toX thinking I would be able to import it but now find that I can't because you have to have FCP 6 or 7 already installed to do so, which you can't with OS 10.9.4.

Final Cut Pro X :: Gets Stuck While Loading A Project

Sep 7, 2014

FCPX 10.1.2 gets stuck while loading a project: the status bar on top of the window saying "Loading xxx project" shows the task is completed with a full blue bar but nothing happens and the panel doesn't go away. Only a few commands are available (not greyed out) in the menus; the Quit Final Cut Pro is available but I get a beep and nothing happens when I select this command. Only way to exit is to Force quit (opt-cmd-esc).

The strange thing is that I did not try to open that xxx project in the timeline. I was just trying to copy a range from a compound clip in the timeline into another compound clip already open in (another level of) timeline: just after selecting the range (R) FCP X decided to load project xxx and it got stuck.

Another weird thing is that while the Loading panel was visible and I had no control on FCPX, FCPX started to render the compound clip in the timeline. So I waited hoping that at its end (not the usual behavior... but ok) I could continue working. No way: rendering finishes, but the Loading panel is still there.

Final Cut Pro X :: Can't Recover Project From Backup

Jun 27, 2014

I recently got a new mac and had backed up all my saved data onto an external hard drive with my old one.  When I was setting up my new mac I recovered it from an existing backup (my old computer) and everything seemed to be back to normal.  On my old computer I was in the process of making a video with Final Cut Pro X and made sure that it was backed up onto the external hard drive. On my new mac when I tried to recover it, it appeared as a file that couldn't be opened with FCP. Within FCP it had the video but all of the files were missing.  I started to relink all of the files but there has to be a faster way. How do I recover this file?  Is there a way to just import the backup without having to ever relink files?

Final Cut Pro X :: No Response When Trying To Export Project

Sep 4, 2014

Just updated to Mavericks. Everything worked fine before then.

So I finished my project , go to export, and no response. When I try and export to vimeo or you tube I get this error -

"The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.Compressor.CompressorKit.ErrorDomain error -1.)"

Its not a camera import issue. I actually made another project with clips that I know to have exported, with no problem. And again, there is no response when I  export project.

And I can't uninstall fcpx because I have clips saved to the program. And hard drive is dead.

Final Cut Pro X :: 10.9 Project Folder Not Updating To New Library

Dec 10, 2014

I have a strange thing happening when I attempt to update a Final Cut Project and Event from FCPX 10.9. I'm choosing to update manually. When I tell FCPX to go ahead and update, everything looks like it is happening as planned - except that inside of Final Cut the Project files are no where to be found. I know Final Cut is supposed to put them into an Event created especially for the old Projects. But when I look for it there are no project files. When I look at what actually took place at the finder level I find that all the Events have been moved just fine but the old Project Folder is left alone and still intact.

Final Cut Pro X :: 10.1.1 - How To Relink Clips Through New Project Library

I updated everything to FCPX 10.1.1.

Some clips became unlinked.  I go to link them ... and am stopped dead by the NEW Library Icon (with all it's internal folders no longer seemingly accessible).  I know the file is in there - if I do a search in Finder for the missing media, it takes me right to where it is.

When I do a relink, stopped dead in my tracks by the new format. How do I access the folders hidden in the new Project Library to relink my clips with their original media?

Final Cut Pro X :: Can't Relink Old Project Files When Updating To 10.1

Sep 4, 2014

I have a bunch of projects created pre the FCPX 10.1 update (ie created prior to June 2013) that when I try to update so that I can access the project in 10.1 , FCPX refuses to relink to the original media files. It says that the files are recognised, but are incompatible as they do not share the same media range.

The media files are stored on external drives (and were always stored this way), the folder structure hasn't changed since the projects were originally created. The only thing that has changed is the old project has been converted to a new 10.1 project.

I have noticed that the info tab of the new project lists all the missing media as having a media range beginning at 00:00:00:00. However, if I reimport the original files into the library, the media range never starts at 00:00:00:00. It will start at a different time code, often with the first number corresponding to the hour of the day the footage was shot (so something shot at 11am will read 11:00:00:00).

Both original media, and missing media, share the exact same duration, audio channels etc, just the timecode form Media Start/End is different.

I am wondering whether:

1) In converting the old project, has FCPX reset all the media start codes to begin at 00:00:00:00? And can it be fixed?

2) Has FCPX has changed the way it recognises time codes with the 10.1 release, so that my original media is being imported correctly, but differently to when the original project was created?

3) If there are any situations where the media start/end timecode of my original media could have changed? Say in upgrading to Mavericks?

Either way, almost every single project I have completed with FCPX prior to June 2013, is now unlinked, and cannot be relinked due to the fact that the project has one idea of the media start range, and FCPX has another.

I have tried deleting the alias files in the library file, replacing them with the original files. That has no impact.

I'm currently operating on FCPX 10.1.3, working on OSX 10.9.4
