Recorded audio with a good sony wireless mic in a room that didn't have much in it to absorb sound, the audio is great except that it sounds like it was recorded in a large hall or something. I'm editing with FCE 4.01 on a macbook with OS 10.7.5 and I'm not very familiar with audio filters, how to get rid of the echo?

i have been making backup QT movies of a whole bunch of Beta SP tapes using an AJA Ki Pro to record ProRes 422 files. I have used QT7pro to trim these movies and add metadata. Played back on QT7 (7.6.6) they sound find but playing the same movie on QT player 10.1 there is an echo on the audio as if one track has been knocked back about 6 or 7 frames. Using QT7 to set Ch1 and 2 to mono or stereo makes no difference, just spaces the echo out.

Recently my Quicktime X audio has been sounding very strange, it sounds like its playing in a drain pipe... it has that compressed echo sound to it. I have tried deleting the app and even re installing OSX Lion but to no avail... the sound remains the same. All other video player apps work just fine and sound perfect.Also, does anyone else have a "preferences" tab for Quicktime. I no longer have one but im not sure if it ever did have one.

I have Final Cut Express 4 running on an iMac with Leopard 10.3.5. The problem I have is I cannot hear a music track & the sound track on the film clip at the same time when I run the clip. I only hear the clip sound track until it finishes then the music track plays. If I drag the scrubber bar along the time line I can hear both the music & the Clip sound track together. This only happens when I logon to the Mac as an Administrator. (I have never managed to hear both sound tracks together whilst logged on as Administrator.)
In desperation I created a user account on my iMac. If I logon as a user Final Cut Express 4 works ok ? I hear both sound tracks together when I play the clip. Any ideas how I can make the Administrator account work as the User account does? As the iMac is only used by myself I don?t need any user accounts.
I've just noticed that in my Finder window sidebar, under "Shared", I have a character called Thomson listed. I don't know any Thomson and I bought the machine, an MBA, brand new. However, I did have an engineer instal the machine in my apartment and can only assume he's the mysterious Thomson. Anyway, whoever he/she is, I don't want him/her on my machine as Shared & "connected as guest". The point is, I cannot find a way to delete Thomson!! Can anyone help? I've tried System Preferences>Security and Accounts and there's no trace of Thomson there. Right clicking on Thomson in the sidebar of Finder only gives me the option to Open and Get Info. Most annoying, this. There MUST be a way to delete a Sharing but totally unwanted guest....

trying to delete them just throws up a "this is needed by the System" message ..... You can't even move them or hide them .... I find it difficult to believe that either AppsStore or Safari is needed by any system (apart from the Apple accounting system).... Whatever happened to the 'user friendly' Macs I've known for so many years. Do I really have to put up with Apple deciding what applications I want or need?

I really would like to get the cheaper, lighter, smaller, more portable 13" if at all possible. However, I need it to smoothly run Final Cut Express (I do some video editing for work) and Logic Express (I'm a full time musician). I travel a lot with my computer and my current 15" 2.16GHZ MBP has always been a bit bulky and heavy, and lags a bit when using Final Cut.
Will I get smooth performance running FCE and LE with the 13", and will it be a capable computer (keep up with updated software) for the next 4 years or so? I'd probably max out the RAM and maybe get a faster processor if I was to settle on the 13". If not, I'm looking at having to get the 15", any suggestions on which 15" model would be the best for me in terms of what I need it for? Would I be set with a lower end 15"?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried to use Final Cut Express Hd for the first time. I have a bunch of .mp4 files created with a Flip Mino HD camera (H264). I tried to import them in FCE, but I always get the UNRENDERED message on the Canvas window when I try to play it on the timeline. I know has something to do with the settings I put on the "Easy Setup" thing, but I tried everything and it's not working. How can I solve this? And what is the best way to work with those kind of HD files?

I have about 10-15 hours experience with Final Cut Express through a class at school so I have a decent idea of how to use it, but mainly just basically. The list for it is $199. Now, I am wondering if this is a good video editing software to make a real professional video (mainly action ones, MX, but could be anything) as I have not really explored what I can do with it. How advanced is FCE compared to FCP, listed at $1199? Why is FCP $1000 more, and is this worth it? I'm obviously not looking to make a hollywood movie, but even though right now I have limited knowledge with FC, I would like to build on this and become really good with it. Will I soon exhaust FCE's features like I did after one use of iMovie? Or will FCE last me for several years with upgrades as seen fit?

I know there is a way i can render it once and just once. I heard of a program called MPEG StreamClip, but it did not work for me. The instructions i fallowed where: Open video, and drag it to MPEG STREAMCLIP. Export to Quicktime these are the settings i used....

According to the person who provided the instructions, i was only suppose to mess with the settings highlighted in the screen shot. Sadly, this did not help, i still have to render. Does anyone else do it differently?
I'm currently having to give myself a 24hr crash course in FCE. One of the things I'm up against at the moment is the process of creating a sub-clip. I was half expecting to:
Import video into the bin.
Double click the footage to transfer it into the play head
Set in and out points with the I/O markers under the play head
Click on the actual video and drag it back to the bin to create a sub-clip
When I drag the video back into the bin all I appear to get is another copy of the original master clip. No recognition of the in and out points.
Wondering if anyone else in here has run across this issue before... I am using a Sony TRV-480 camcorder's pass through function (av-dv) to import a home movie. It seems my new copy of final cut express wont work with my av to dv pass through camera. I called tech support and they suggested I use iMovie to upload the movie then export it to a quick time movie. then import it into final cut express...
View 5 Replies View Relatedive got a Sony HVR-V1E/V1P its a HDV 1080i camera which uses mini DV tapes for ages now ive been trying to capture media into FCE and it hasnt been working it can never recognize the capture device. I found an I.Link convert setting and set it to on so now it converts it into DV when it captures, and at last the device is recognised and i can play it on the computer etc. When i try to capture it though, after around 2 seconds it says: "Dropped Frames were detected during the last capture attempt" , better yet, can anyone help me get this thing to import at proper HDV? Edit: I went into the settings and disabled the option saying "abort capture on dropped frames" Now it captures about 3 seconds and says: "Capture encountered a problem reading data on your source tape. This could be due to a problem with the tape. Capture has been aborted and your project has been saved"

So, with that in mind I would like to understand which of the apps listed in the title I should go with (iMovie, FCE, FCP). All I want to do is edit movies of my kids for burning to blu-ray (i know i have to use toast 10 for this). I would like: nice transitions (but mostly will just use fade in/out and wipe), a few titles at the beginning and sub titles now and then, the ability to use mp3 files as background music and mix the video soundtrack with the music soundtrack, ability to create chapters in both dvd and blu-ray Which software would be best for me? Also, do i need anything in addition to toast 10 and the above editing software to be able to author blu-rays with chapters and nice backgrounds to the menu/index bit of the disc?

Photoshop CS5 (with an Academic Discount) or FCE (Academic discount too). Thing is, I've been planning to do some graphic design and/or films during the summer. If I'm going the graphic design way, I'm going to need a tablet (any suggestions?). But thing is, is iMovie sufficient enough for me right now? I'm already going to be using an HD Canon video camera (.m2ts file format) and can iMovie handle that? Or should I step up to FCE which has been long due for an update. The problem is that the original movies run about 2 hours and 10 minutes, but iDVD will not burn a DVD that long. I have to cut the movie down to about 1:53 to accomodate the menu, etc. The person who did this before me was using Windows and was able to massage the frame rate to squeeze a bit more time. So here's my question: Will this problem go away if I were to use Final Cut Pro or FC Express? We're talking about $4000 in new equipment here, so this is a very important question that I need answered with some detail by someone who has used one of those programs.
