Feb 20, 2009I have to hit program folder twice to see the icons in this folder.I have a 17" 2.9 GHZ Unibody,
When I go into the finder and hit "Programs" the folder opens but no icons are shown, If I hit it a second time (via left menu in window) they are shown roght away.

Mar 20, 2012I place document icons in my finder sidebar, and sometime later they change to folder icons. Does not matter which application they come from, it seems to happen to them all, but they are still linked to the correct documents.

Oct 24, 2009On my desktop the little disk image icons are coming up when i open certain applications. I wanna make them disappear, but still be able to see ipods, cds, and external drives.
Also(somewhat irrelevant), occasionally when i open firefox, it asks me to drag it in the applications folder, but it's already there. please help. its so annooying

Sep 29, 2008i am a tad stumped by this issue i'm having right now with my new imac. i noticed one day that none of my desktop aliases show any longer. in fact if i go to the desktop folder through finder my files and such show in there however none of my aliases nor those files show on the actual desktop. another thing i've noticed is that whenever i now try to drag and drop anything to the desktop whether it be a URL from safari or an alias i made in finder the dragged item simply just drags itself back to where i pulled it from.

May 1, 2010First off, I've searched the forums, but can't find an answer -- sorry if I missed something.Just got a new machine running 10.6.3 -- ugh, the dock and folders and so on look like clunky Windows junk :-(I miss my simple, elegant 10.4.11 dock ...I don't want to add novelty icons or that kind of thing, I just want a borderless dock that's semi-transparent or clear. And apparently all the apps out there to change the dock background don't work with Snow Leopard.I know CandyBar can help me with the folder icons and app icons, but as far as I can tell, not the actual dock background.

Sep 28, 2010I have went to /system/Library/CoreServices/Dock.app/Contents/Resources to reach the Finder icon for the dock. I replaced it with the icon I want (Replacing it) but it won't change. I went to terminal and typed 'killall Dock' and the dock does refresh, but it doesn't get the new icon. I tried Refinery, Candybar, .What's even weirder is the trash icon, I have also replaced it, but will only show the new icon if you put trash in it/empty the trash. Otherwise, it would still be the original picture

Mar 10, 2008I have found more and more that when I am working and switching between apps etc I quite often mistake the iPhoto icon for the iWeb icon in my dock. When entrenched with work and zipping around the screen a quick glance at either icon and a reflex movement to open one of them often results in the wrong app opening. So you have to stop working, wait for the wrong app to load then close it.
Does anybody else think the two icons are too similar?
Sure I could separate them a bit more in the dock but I keep my apps in a particular order in the dock to aid my workflow. Wouldnt the best thing be to change the icon of iWeb? I think all it needs is the colour of the orange photo changing to blue or something to distinguish it more from the iPhoto icon.
Thats just me venting and kind of trying to drum up support so you will send feedback to Apple to get it changed.
OS X :: Disappearing Applications In System / Icons Are Still Present
Jul 10, 2008About 3 weeks ago, I went out of town for a week then came back. When I started up my PPC G5 iMac, I went to open Safari....but it disappeared. The icon was still in the dock, but when I clicked on it, a translucent "?" showed up over it. I tried a Spotlight search for it, and nothing came up. Same thing happened with Preview. I thought my Aunt who was staying over didn't know how to use the Mac and might have accidentally deleted them, so I used Pacifist to reinstall Safari and Preview from the Leopard disc. No big deal.
Then today, I fire up Word, but same thing! Word disappeared! Same with Excel. No matter, reinstalled from the disc. After a couple of hours, I'm back again and this time I want to use Roxio Toast....gone. And this time, I don't have any install disc (lost it during moving). And I know my Aunt can't be responsible for Toast or Word disappearing, since she left yesterday afternoon; mom was using Word on my computer and I used Toast no more than 5 days ago.
So anyone have any clue what the heck is going on with my applications literally deleting themselves?
