May 31, 2012I bought a refurb iMac directly from apple 2 years ago. It already came with Adobe Photoshop as well as many others. I didn't start using the photoshop until recently. Yesterday, I logged on, and asked me for a serial number. Where would I find this or how do I obtain this since it came with the iMac?

Dec 23, 2010I am going to purchase a MacBook Pro and would like to transfer all of my Adobe Programs (InDesign, Bridge and Photoshop CS3) to it from my current MacBook. I have the serial number but do not have the CD.
What is the best way to move these programs? Time Machine, Migration Assistant, drag and drop?

Jan 14, 2010I installed a trial of iWork 09 yesterday to get a feel for it, liked it so went out today and purchased the box from my local Apple Store. I know about the whole not needing a serial number now however it is asking me for one since the install on all three applications. I removed the trial and all evidence of it and restarted my macbook before installing the box.

Jan 22, 2009I have a quick question about the iWork '09 Retail box (for those of you who bought it). I downloaded the iWork '09 trial from Apple's website. When I launched Pages I was greeted with the Buy or Try screen. I bought myself a serial number. I have noticed now, that when I go into any iWork app if I click Pages/Keynote/Numbers in the menubar next to the Apple logo, I get the menu for About, Preferences, Register iWork, Quit, etc. I know that the retial box copies no longer require a serial number. My question is this: does the retail iWork disc still show "Try iWork..." as a greyed out menu option under the Pages/Keynote/Numbers menu? For the trial (that was bought with a legit serial, it does) So I was wondering if the retial box version does also? Like this:

Feb 11, 2009I downloaded the trial of iWork '09 and I really like it. It complements Office 2008 really well, better in some ways. Anyway, I want to purchase it from the Apple Store. I can either purchase a serial number that is emailed to me to enter into the trial version or a boxed version that is shipped to me. Which way should I go? I guess if I get the boxed, I have to install the trial and reinstall from the DVD or something? Is getting the serial number just as good?

Dec 26, 2010My 2006 iMac died a couple of months ago and I got a 13" MBP for Christmas. Yesterday I was working on installing everything on it and started to install FCE, which yes I did buy perfectly legally ;-)
Anyway I seem to have misplaced the booklet with the serial number on it so I can't complete the install. If I call Apple support will they be able to give me another serial? I'd hate to think I've wasted $200 just because I lost a $.50 booklet that came with it. I have a full backup of my iMac on an external drive so I don't know if maybe there is a library file or something that I could use to recover my password? I just thought I'd pose the question here before calling them because I'm sure their hold times are crazy this time of year.

Feb 6, 2009I recently bought Rapidweaver and received the package today. I installed it, entered all the pertinent information including my email and the serial number, registered, and then went upstairs for lunch. Came back down and found that my cute little golden retriever had decided that the envelope, not the box, and not the little booklet... was tasty, so she ate it. I'm left with some cellophane and tiny wet pieces of white paper and no serial number! The software was installed and it is working just fine, and when I "unlocked" or activated it, it said OK, everything is done. Fortunately, the CD was in the Mac while Daisy had some fun.
I don't need to reinstall... but unlike other software (or on a PC in the registry) where you can look in the "about" section and see your serial number, the SN is not shown in the about window. I'm not about to phone the UK over this, but just for security's sake, I'd like to know how to retrieve the serial number on my mac so I can write it down inside the booklet and put it up high.

Jun 13, 2012My FCP 7 keeps on asking me about my serial number. I've thrown that box a long time ago. How can I retrieve the serial number? Also, I don't want to move on to FCP x. Such a horrible interface and system. I want my FCP 7 back. Is there a place where I can download it again. There doesn't seem to be a download software or software available in the market anymore for FCP 7.

Oct 15, 2009I have a MacBook Pro and a MacPro both running 10.6.1. My Sony PRS600 is on its way so I can't test how well it works yet, but I have installed the Sony eReaderLibrary software on both machines. On the laptop it appears to be running OK. On my MacPro I double click on the app and it starts, but although it starts, no window appears and nothing works. If I click of anything in the menu bar - ie about, edit, file, view help etc absolutely nothing happens. I have Adobe Digital Editions on both machines and that works fine. The only difference is that I installed the Adobe software BEFORE the Sony on my MacPro and AFTER on my laptop.

Dec 21, 2010Sounds easy. Problem is, it's an internal hard drive in an external enclosure, currently in a 5+hour process of a clone job. I want to get the serial number off it without having to stop the cloning, take apart the external enclosure, and finding the serial number.
System Profiler > Firewire shows me SOME info on the hard drive, but not the serial number.
Anyone know of a way to get that serial number? Maybe a freeware app or something? I've struck out so far.

Mar 22, 2009Today when I tried to find the serial number of my MacBook in "About This Mac" and System Profiler it says Serial Number System Sal#. I haven't replaced the logic board or had any service done and I'm wondering why it would suddenly disappear like this. My MacBook also has not been "sleeping" when the battery gets low, the computer just shuts off without the low power sleep state it usually goes into around ~1% battery left.

Jul 23, 2009Today I got an iBook G4 (M9164LL/A) from a friend. When I went into the "About This Mac" menu, the serial number was not displayed (it just said 'Serial Number' when I clicked through). I went into "System Profiler" and got the same results - no serial number. After doing some research on the Internet it seems that the logic board may have been replaced. I am currently reinstalling Tiger to see if that clears it up. If not, does anybody know where I can download the utility to reset the serial number? I bet the Genius Bar wouldn't have the utility and would charge to send it to their repair center.
