I've encountered a few annoyances with the new iTunes 9.
For example in 8 I had a album which consisted of two discs. When properly organized as disc one, disc two and so on. The songs would appear in nice orderly fashion. From disc one songs one to ... and disc two etc. Now they're all piled together and it's much harder to found what I need.
Itunes demons got me again. I have about 2 or 3 gigs out of my 350+GB collection on my internal HD. I keep everything on my external since it is so much. How this music copied to my internal HD I really have no clue. I just copied 15 cds in a row to itunes and half went to external and half went to internal. Everything plays and works fine I just want it all on the external. How can I get the music to my external without messing it up on itunes and taking forever deleting and re-adding music?
So my brother's iMac G5 (the original with the obnoxious loud fan) seems to freeze up a lot. We're trying to figure it out. While messing around in Safari, iTunes, iMovie, etc... it will freeze. The only solution is to hold the power button and shut it down. Upon restarting sometimes he will just get the grey screen of death. Nothing happens. Again force shut down and restart. He also will get the spinning beach ball of death where he can't force quit anything. Boils down to a frozen system and the only way to get out of it is to force shut down.We have run DU and hardware test (From the DVD) and everything passes. So we reinstalled 10.4.11 hoping that would clear the issue. Nope. It still freezes up. So I'm wondering is it a hardware issue? He does have some external LACIE HDDs hooked up but not sure if that could cause any issues.
I was hoping someone would know a better workaround for a problem I'm having. When I export .csv files, it replaces the commas with semi-colons as the separators. On Mac OS X, I haven't been able to discover a way to specify a different list separator symbol. So I just opened the CSV file into TextEdit, chose Edit > Find > Find, and then searched for all semicolons and replaced them with commas. Of course you can also change your computer's region by going to Apple Menu > System Preferences, clicking on International, and then the Formats tab. Here you'll find the Region menu, where you can specify an English speaking region, which you'd probably want to avoid doing.
iPhoto has recently been streaking my photos. It is an effect similar to the retouch tool, but I don't initiate it. iPhoto recently did this to one of my photos, creating a blurry line across the face of one of the people in the photo. I was wondering if there was any way to remove this? I tried locating the original file, but it wouldn't let me upload it to iPhoto. So, I deleted the photo, intending to re-upload it onto my computer, but the original picture was deleted on my camera, and I can't find the original file anymore on my computer.
is there a way yet to make my dock clear? for 10.5, i figured out how to change the docks appearance by messing with the scurve files but i cant figure out how to make it so theres not background at all.. if there was like a clear.gif i might be able to tile it. any ideas?
I have used Azureus on this computer with this cable modem for over 2 years with no problem. Recently, I bought a new Mac Mini. I bought a router to hook them all up (Belkin G Wireless F5D7234-4 v4, firmware up-to-date). Everything works nicely. Except, now whenever I start up Azureus, web pages either load very slowly or not at all, usually hanging up on contacting the server. Likewise, my email program is unable to fetch or deliver mail reliable. As soon as I shut down Azureus, these problems clear up.
I'm still able to transfer files between the 2 machines while this is going on, it's just that neither one can reliably get through to the Net. (I thought UPnP might be a problem, so I shut that off in Azureus and forwarded the ports manually in the router. No change.) I don't think this is in any way connected, but I've noticed I can't set the admin password on the router. If I do, it appears to accept it, but then I can't log back into the router with either the default or my new password.
I have recently began using linux as a virtual machine and have started to like it alot. I want to triple boot my mac so I can run linux by itself, but I'm running into some trouble. After partitioning my hard drive, whenever I try to boot up windows, it fails, and a get a blue screen and an UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME error. I have my windows partitioned as FAT and its Windows XP. I have already attempted to repair permissions for Mac and repair disc for Windows.
I am a new mac user (total convert--am on my second iMac in a month and am about to buy a macbook), and am having trouble with my itunes service. My first 24" iMac developed a clicking HDD, so I was lucky enough to be able to bring it back to the shop for a replacement iMac. I made a time machine backup of the first Mac and copied directly to the second one (which was flawless....how come I haven't been using macs prior to now? I've lost dozens of backups on PC). The only issue I've had is with iTunes--I keep getting an error that the iTunes library is newer than the version of iTunes on the computer. Is there anyway to fix this without losing my entire library of songs? I did make up a physical copy of the iTunes folder on my first Mac, just in case, so I assume that I could delete iTunes and reinstall a fresh copy, update it, and then copy the iTunes folder over to the new version. But this is a Windows approach to the issue and there is probably a simpler way of fixing this. Alternately, I could do the same but sync my iPod and copy everything to my library that way.
I have a batch of HD video downloads in my iTunes Store queue that I can't delete. Before it was annoying, having to purchase both the regular video and HD video, then delete the unwanted HD download from my queue list, but now it's a problem. I can't empty the unwanted HD downloads, and for me to download them all will tie up my connection for a week or more.
I loved the Genius Recommendation Panel on iTunes 9 and found lots of new songs and artists when using itI cannot believe Apple removed it from iTunes 10 and replaced it with a social networking site with the awful title "Ping" So I replaced iTunes 9 last night, only to find that it wouldn't accept my iTunes library. I managed to reload the songs, but I have lost all my playlists, star ratings, play counts, etc. Its all gone.
Brand new convert to Mac here: After receiving an iPod Touch from my boss when he upgraded to an iPhone, I have fallen in love with the Mac hardware and OS. I just got a new macbook and would like to transfer my iTunes from my old PC laptop. I am also a neophyte to iTunes so forgive me if there is a very simplistic answer to this issue.
The physical music is located on my external drive connected to the PC with the iTunes original music locations pointed to it . My specific question is, if I backup iTunes, restore to the Mac, plug in the external drive to the Mac, will it work seamlessly? I'm not sure if the existing iTunes music locations will re-synch since the music locations on the laptop iTunes are mapped to the "G:" drive. If it won't work that way, what do you recommend as the best way to go about it? I want to make sure I don't waste as much time as when I initially set up my iTunes/iPod touch (simply stuck in "PC" mindset).
I think I found a bug in iTunes, because I can find no other explanation. Every once in a while (like once every three weeks) my iTunes window goes down. By this I mean everytime i click a different playlist, view, category, iTunes store, the window moves down a bit leaving this gap at the top. It randomly comes and goes, and its not really a big deal, but it does get really annoying. Is anyone else getting this? and no, im not just moving the window down
As the main title says I am trying to find out why Itunes adds a folder for each new song that I add to Itunes it very nice if you have a few albums but when you intend to add a few thousand songs it could becoming a House Keeping problem.
I have an AOL iTunes account and would like to convert it into a regular iTunes account. I know how to do this but I used my AIM screen name and I don't have a credit card so I can't use the method from Apple Knowledge Base. Is there any other way to do this?
Just went from Windows to mac and want to bring my windows itunes playlists. when I hit export and save it on a usb and hit import in mac itunes, then I get the playlist but its all empty. It kinda sucks if I have to sort out all the good stuff again, so I hope I can get my old playlist back. I have it on my ipod touch as well, so I dunno if you can transfer playlist from ipod to mac
Im just curious if its a good idea to download itunes software from a site not affiliated with apple? Should i worry about glitches and problems or is it a pretty common thing? Just let me know what you think.
Okay, I know that when iTunes LPs and iTunes Extras first came out, iTunes could not play them full screen.
I don't know when it happened, but I just noticed that I *CAN* play them full screen now. (Either by selecting "View" -> "Full Screen"; hitting Command-F, or clicking a new "Full screen" widget at the upper-right on the "title bar" for the LP/Extra within the content pane of iTunes.)
But, strangely, this only appears on one of my computers, even though both are running the same version of OS X (10.6.2,) and the same version of iTunes (9.0.2.)
Does anyone know the secret to enabling this? I have checked every single setting in iTunes, both menus and preferences, and they are all perfectly matched between the two computers.
i use to be able for example take a .mp3 that is on my desktop and drag it into itunes and it would then be in the music list on itunes, now i cant do it, i have updated to the latest version and still nothing... i have reinstalled itunes it worked i restarted the computer and i open itunes and i can
I have 2 macs with two completely independent iTunes databases. They are used for differnt purposes and contain different music. I really do not want to merge these two databases.
From time to time I need to selectively transfer some few songs from the one computer to the other one. Is there a clever way I can achieve this? I would like to transfer the files including the metadata.
I just switched from PC to Macbook pro. How can i transfer music in itunes in my PC to itunes in my new mac. Is there any free sofware i could use to transfer all the music? I used one software, but it is not free and i tried the unregistered version which only enabled me to transfer 500 songs, but i have 800-ish songs.
Is the there a way to force iTunes to store my mobile applications on my external drive automatically?I have my library set to an external and all my music, movies, etc goes onto the proper location except the mobile applications. I know I can use the consolidate library command, which will move the apps to the external. But as soon as I d/l another app iTunes begins saving them to the default folder again.
im trying to decide between the new iTunes Plus on iTunes and the amazon MP3. Both offer DRM free music in large libraries. What do u think is the best, please provide rhyme and reason for each.Dont just say itunes, etc
does anyone know of a straight forward way of ripping a DVD to iTunes, with artwork and film information all in one go? I want to get my DVD collection digital.
