This program must exist but I can't find it. It's not complicated: I just want a program that will let me lock folders now, and automatically unlock them for me at a date/time of my choice.

Are there any application that locks folder. An example if someone wants to access to a certain folder in my macbook, they need to put a password.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHere's my setup: I have three Macs and one PC sharing a wireless network with a Belkin N+ router and a 2 TB external HD shared via the router. The HD is formatted in NTFS as a legacy of originally being mostly used with the PC (and the router will only read NTFS.) I've installed NTFS-3G to be able to read and write to the drive from the Macs. Everything works dandy.
My question: I'd like to be able to restrict access to one of the folders on the HD somehow; either to just one of the Macs, or via password. I have no clue where to start with this.
I'm looking for an app that will allow me to specify which folders I want to copy to my external drive, updating existing files within it and copying new ones.
I don't want to backup settings, my whole harddrive nor make a bootable backup. Just something to backup what I want to backup and where.
Not sure if Time Machine can do that, but it wants me to reformat my external before I can even find out..and considering how much is on there, I really don't want to have to remove that all elsewhere while doing so. [Don't think I could anyway, none of my internal drives have that much space.]
So, does anyone know of a relatively painless backup app that could do simply what I want? Doesn't sound all that complicated in comparison to some of the more convoluted backup apps I keep finding.
On my pc, I've been using Dvddecrypter + CloneDVD2 to make backups of my DVD movies. However, I cannot find a DVD re-encoding program for Mac. I know Handbrake can encode them to avi/mkv but that's not what I need, I just need to reencode my DVD's so they'll fit on a normal DVD-R (with a choice to get the menus and extras or not, ideally).Is there such software for Mac? What my questions is if I get an email from someone and then I forward it to someone now I have a duplicate one in my inbox and another in my sent. If I delete the one in my sent then when I open it the attachment will not show. Is there a way for it to just store the file once and then create an alias pointing to the main file.
Another example: If I attach a photo from iPhoto to an email there again is another duplicate. I would much rather Mail send the photo and create an alias to the original photo in iPhoto thus creating no duplicates.
I hope that was not confusing.
I want a program that will find duplicates and then keep 1 and create alias's for the one's deleted.
I know this is not all cases of duplicate files but mainly my Mail has way to many duplicates.
I have a bunch of music on my computer that isn't properly named, like for instance:
Flo Rida - Right Round is named: right round flo rida.
This is cause I didn't care before and now I do. I also have a lot of videos on my computer, mostly personal, that I'd like to rename. I tried doing it one by one (hitting enter/return key, then changing the name) but it's taking to long.
Is there a program that I can do it? Sorry if this was discussed already, not quite sure what to search.
I'm looking for a photo management program that will organize my photos using folders for events, so if I ever decide to switch programs, it will be easy because it's all organized already. I currently have iPhoto, but it doesn't seem to create folders in the "Pictures" directory, so I doubt switching to another program from iPhoto will be simple. Do any of you know of an app that does what I want?

I have found many programs such as MrClean that find duplicates of songs but I do not want to accidentally delete the high quality mp3's or flac files. Is there any program that can do this for me? Now I get this error. iChat can't communicate with the jabber account "@hotmail". The operation couldn't be completed. Operation timed out. I checked my password, and it is correct. I can check my Hotmail emails using those credentials. I didn't change the server settings as well.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've enabled Filevault 2 on my Lion primary HD. When scanning my disk with Disk Utility, it tells me that I it needs to be repaired and that I need to reboot my Mac and hold CMD+R keys, then enter Disk Utility in "restore mode" of Lion. So that's what I do: I restart my Mac and enter restore mode. Now, to fix my drive, I need to unlock it. In Disk Utility, the disk is greyed out and when clicking on it, a "unlock" button appears at the top. I've tried every possible password I know (including the restore key), but I'm UNABLE to unlock my HD.
Funny thing is that I know my password is right, because I can select the Change password feature in the File menu and it works well. But the new password can't unlock the hard drive! when Filevault 2 is enabled, how can I unlock the drive to scan and repair it? Is there a bug in this feature?

I installed a scanner driver (Musteck A3 600 USb scanner) and found it so dame useless and frustrating that I went out and bought an epson 10000XL scanner (even sharper than my V700). which has a very good driver (I use silverfast for my Epson V700)
but this dam musteck driver still shows up in Photoshops Input list. (there was no uninstaller on the mustek disk. and it is one of the most useless things I have ever bought)
if i take the Twain plug in out of the Photoshop plugin inputs folder, the the Epson Scan is no longer on the input list..
I have tried looking for where this bloody scanner driver is to remove it but cant find it.
is there any search program that will actually look inside the system and library folders to find files.

View 7 Replies View RelatedUnlocking my external hard drive crashes my computer. It was encrypted by Time Machine (and I think that means it used FileVault because the unlock window has the FileVault icon).
There's a prompt to unlock the hard drive as soon as I plug it in but when I press the Unlock button my computer crashes.
I've tried different user accounts, safe mode, disk utility, recovery mode, different USB cables and different USB ports all with the same problem. As soon as I press enter on the password prompt the system crashes. If I type the wrong password it denies me so I know the password is correct.
The drive is in a SATA to USB dock but unfortunately I don't have another one to test with. Other drives work just fine in this dock.
The data recovery software I tried is useless because all the data is encrypted .

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a new PC running Windows 7 RC, but I can't get it to find the shared folders on my Macs, nor can my Macs see the shared folders on the PC. Any ideas how to get at least one way working (preferably so that the Macs can see the PC).I'm running 10.5.7, and if I "Connect to Server" and dial in smb:// and the PCs IP address, I get a login window, but it won't let me log in. I have no password on the PC.

I need to find the Library Folder in my User's folder, since that is where my Quicken 2015 data is stored. When I use the Open command in Quicken I get the following path to the Quicken 2015 Data File:
User > My User's Folder > Library > Application Support > Quicken 2015 > Data Files
When I try to access that through my Macintosh HD there is no Library Folder in my User's Folder. I am guessing it is invisible, how do I find it? I am running OSX Yosemite 10.10.1.
