I recently uninstalled vmware fusion and afterwards noticed that the little icon on my menu bar is still there.
I tried clicking on it to get to the "applications menu settings" section, where I could presumably remove this, but since I uninstalled it doesn't do anything.
I also tried holding command and dragging it off the menu bar - nothing.
My googling has given me solutions for it, but only if the software is still installed. Is there some way around having to re-install it to fix this? That would be a pain because I no longer have the disc.
Maybe there's some file I can delete or something I can kill via terminal?
Just today it began that when I try and open iChat from the Menu Bar icon, the whole right side of the menu bar reboots. Anyone else experienced this or have an idea of steps I can take to fix it?

In Get Info, I also can't click where the icon should be (e.g., in order to paste an icon back in there). [Tried to insert screenshots here, but the upload won't work — the Insert Image button stays gray]
Dump finder cache and/or prefs? I've already verified and repaired permissions recently (2 days ago), I've also recently deleted several caches using Onyx, in the process of troubleshooting some pinwheel and freeze problems.

When I upgraded to 10.5.2 a .Mac icon was placed in the menu bar. I don't use .Mac so I'd like to get rid of it but I can't figure out how. Every other icon in the menu bar can be removed/changed via System Preferences except for the .Mac one as far as I can tell.

I removed it under system preferences at the bottom but I cannot seem to get rid of the icon on the menu bar. I cannot drag it out and am stumped at what to do. I even manually removed the plugins from the library.

So I changed my menu bar to black and replaced the menu bar icons but now for some reason my airport menu bar icon does not show up anymore. I'm not sure if the aiport.menu was fully copied for it to work since when I tried copying the icons, all of them copied except the airport.menu because I got a message saying "Cannot copy because it is in use". So I deleted the file and copied the new one. So then I check on System Preferences > Network and check where it says "show airport status in menu bar" but it doesn't let me click on apply, it's greyed out. So when i exit System Preferences and go back, it's unchecked again.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just created a new battery icon(s) for the menu bar, I think this is the reason for it not showing..
I replaced all the files with the new images, but I'm suspecting it's because they're not PDF files but PNG (the originals were PDF)
Here are some shots of it atm, you will be able to notice where the battery icon is meant to be..
I still have the original files, but I really want these to work.
Here's how things look in finder.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI run CheckPoint Full Disk Encryption on my MBP 13. It normally has a status icon in the menu bar that I can right click on to get a status of the the program.
Well it is missing now however there is still a process being shown in the Activity Monitor, FDEStatusMenu, that is for that.
Is there anyway I could go into Terminal and restart that show it shows the icon? (There are no menu options to show it)
I just installed Symantec Anti-Virus and it automatically puts an ugly icon in the menu bar. I already have a few things up there that i like/need and don't want the symantec button, but symantec doesn't give me the option to not display the button in the menu bar.
I would like to know if there is a way to override this? I would really appreciate being able to get rid of that little button.

I'm setting up one of the new MacBook Pros with Retina display. I have it attached to a new Thunderbolt display. I used the migration assistant to transfer the files from an older MacBook Pro that was running the latest version of Lion. Once the user files, settings, apps, etc. were transferred, I rebooted and then logged in as the "transferred" user. At first the icon for the display settings appeared in the menu bar next to things like network settings, battery, volume, etc. but then it disappeared and I can't find any way to get it back. It is no longer a check box in the display settings within System Preferences.
Is this a function of the new MacBook Pro or a function of Lion. The other office computer, a 24" iMac, that was also upgreaded to Lion still has the check box. This is kind of important since this MacBook Pro is used on the road with LCD projectors as well as the Thunderbolt display and also just with the built in Retina display.

How can I delete an app from Menu Bar? I don't want to uninstall the app. Just delete it from menu bar. I try with command and drop but its not working for this app.

So I downloaded a drive program of a Razer mouse and I realized it did not work. So I deleted it.
But the problem is that it left a icon on my menu bar and I have tried the holding command and drag thing. It doesn't work..
I just noticed that I have a strange new icon in my Leopard-menubar. It has two circular arrows. If I click on it, it displays three choice: "Never Synchronized .Mac", "Synchronize now" and "Open .Mac Sync Preferences". If I click "Sync now", the arrows rotate for a while, and nothing seems to happen. In Activity Monitor "SyncServer" works for a while, and the goes back to sleep. It seems that the icon is related to .Mac. I'm not a .Mac-subsriber and I have never touched any of the related, and I have no idea where that icon came from. And I have no idea how to get rid of it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just started using Skype and use a Plantronics USB headset/microphone. It works pretty well calling a phone but has a really annoying side tone when calling another computer.
My problem, though, is that since I started using the headset, just a few days ago, my built in microphone and speaker and the ability to plug in just a headset and listen have vanished. Also, the volume icon in the menu bar has disappeared. If I go to System preferences, there is only plantronics in the menu. I've tried restarting with no change. It used to work just fine...where might it have gone?
I have a problem where a bunch of menu bar icons just showed up. For most I can't just right click and do pref then uncheck the menu icon option.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWith UPS plugged in (APC) via USB, there are two "plug-in" icons - side by side. When power adapter is removed (on battery), it changes to two vertical rectangles with two dashes within each. When UPS is unplugged from USB, these change to a "battery and a half" - in other words, a normal horizontal battery indicator plus half of one to the right. The same will happen when on a/c - you end up with a normal horizontal "plugged in" status plus half of one to the right.
Toggling the "Show battery status in the menu bar" will return the icon to normal - as long as the UPS remains unplugged from USB.
Bottom line - as long as the UPS in connected via USB, there will be an incorrect power status icon. With it connected, a double display; when disconnected, one and a half normal status icons will be displayed, until the "Show battery..." is toggled.
