Mar 25, 2012I have been having problems with my Macbook Pro recently not booting up and stuck on the Apple logo screen. Now my MBP DOES mount the HD, It DOES enter Single User Mode, It DOES enter Hardware diagnostics mode and has no problem. What my MBP DOESN'T do is; accept commands in Single User Mode like the "fsck -yf' or any real command NOR does it boot into Safe Mode. i have tried resetting the PRAM also i have tried booting from an external partition that i made.

Aug 31, 2009I've just installed a clean SL. It's worked fine, but I'm trying to use Disk Utility and it won't let me erase another partition, verify disk permissions or anything! When I try to, it tells me to type my name and password, I do that, and it gives me ''You must type an administrators name and password to make changes to disk utility''. But I just gave it my name and password! I've tryed logging out, and it let me log back in and accepted me no worries, but it won't let me use disk utility or system preferences!

Apr 27, 2012I have iTunes 10.6.1 and had an iTunes account for years. I recently tried to buy a music album on iTunes and a window keeps asking for my login which I provided. It would not accept a valid .mac account ID so I reset the password. No effect. I can log into both my iTunes account and .mac account just fine but it will not allow me to purchase anything.

May 7, 2012I just switched to iCloud from MobileMe, and my Mail program now tells me that my password is not correct. I've gone so for as to delete the account and add it again, and it still will not accept the password. I know the password is correct, it works on this site, as well as directly in iCloud, and on my iPhone, it's only the Mail program that it won't work in.

While my Intel Mac that runs Lion & iCloud accepts the same pw and works fine. What should I do? There is no update for Power PC Mail application. Is this time to discard this older Mac completely?

May 16, 2012I reported the problem to Apple Support via email. but their responses were unhelpful and had no new information.The suggestion for a fee based call to Apple technical support is insulting. Why would I pay for a call to fix a problem in your portal to sell me software? Also, it is in Apple's best interest to address this; as it stands I can not upgrade to OSX Lion because it is only delivered via the App Store! Am I to throw my Mac Pro out of the window? The life cycle of Macs has become very short indeed for a very expensive product.After 21 years I may switch to PC (can't believe I am writing this). IF I can not get a Mac that can run processor and graphics intensive tasks anymore, then I have really no choice. I am not buying a two year old Mac Pro at exorbitant prices to run Autodesk Maya (for complex and very high res rendering) when I can run the software on a PC faster and at less than half the cost.Is Apple really abandoning the professional in favor of becoming a consumer electronics company?

My son's iPhone will not log on to our wireless.
I have 2 Macs, an iPad and a PC that all access our home wireless without any problem.
His iPhone did access it also, now after entering the correct key it fails to log on.
Have tried resetting the iPhone twice, checked to make sure the pass key hasn't somehow changed, but nothing works.
The phone logs on to other wifi networks without a hitch.
OS X V10.7 Lion :: Installer Won't Accept My Admin Password
Mar 11, 2012For the past month or so, any time I've tried to go through the process of installing an app that requires Installer to do the work, when it comes time to enter my admin password, nothing happens. The password box pops up, I enter the correct password (as when I enter an incorrect one it does its "incorrect password shake-thing") and, like always, the admin password box disappears. Normally at this point, the installer continues on to install the app, but instead it does absolutely nothing. I can click "Install" again to enter the password, but, again, nothing happens. I've tried changing my password, deleting preference files, doing a disk repair and permissions repair - nothing.

But having set up the account, iCloud in Apple Mail will not accept the password. I have checked, and the password is the correct one, which gets me into MobileMe correctly. I have not deleted my MobileMe mail account, and that is still working properly, and accepting the password. The password is a new one, which complies with 8 characters, at least one capital, and at least one numeral.

May 2, 2012I have a Dual 2ghz PowerPC G5.I'm positive the password is correct because I enter it all the time in my other mac hardware/applications. I tried deleting the mail account them re-adding it, it still rejects my password. I can't update any of my software (nothing is available). I've tried restarting the computer.Safari still works. All my other apps still work.  I selected PowerMac as the product on the pulldown menu, I hope that's the same as PowerPC. My OS is 10.4.11Â

OS X :: Mail Refusing To Accept Updated Gmail Password
Jul 25, 2010so after my friend got his gmail account hacked I decided it was time for a new password. Updated it in gmail, on my iphone and iPad and no problems. However friggin' Mac Mail refuses to accept the new password. I even wrote it out in Text Edit and pasted it into both the gmail web interface and mac mail. Gmail web interface works just fine but Mac Mail refuses to accept the new password.
Is there any way I can fix this save for deleting my gmail account and recreating it(something I am want to do since I have a metric ton of messages).
Oy, Apple ignoring these tiny bugs is getting quite annoying....
For what its worth I'm on 10.6.4 and everything else is up to date.
Update, now I'm getting "The server returned the error: Web login required. (Failure)"
but it doesn't clear when I log into the web mail....
