OS X V10.7 Lion :: Software Update Changed BootCamp Support To Win 7 From XP SP3

Jun 5, 2012

I had Win XP servicepack 3 installed via bootcamp. Recent OSX updates changed bootcamp and it supports now only Win 7. I was not informed about this change. So to be able to use my Win XP applications again I bought Win 7 Pro 64 bit OEM. The CD will work until I have to install and format the new created partition. I cannot choose between FAT or NTFS the installation continues and Windows will be unpacked. The counter remains on (0). Nothing happens further.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Red Color Has Changed After Update To 10.7.4?

May 10, 2012

I have a problem after updating to 10.7.4. It seams that the red color has changed after the update. I can notice it in the US flag for the keyboard layout. I have no idea what to do. I have tried to use different color profiles and calibrate the monitor, but nothing helped. I think maybe it is connected with the fact that I didn't disconnect the external monitor while the update process.

I had an issue with the red color before while I connected external display and used only it. After I disconnected the display the red color changed itself. At that time the reboot only helped. But recently I started to use both displays of my macbook pro and external one and the issue with red color did't appear any more. And now after the update the red color has changed and I don't know how to return it back.

I've just made a clean install of Lion on monday and everything was perfect. Now I don't want to do it again. It took the full day of setting my system. I don't have time for the second time. I need to Work! I have MacBook Pro 17" of mid 2009. The external display that I use is Dell 2408WFP.

Mac :: Lack Of Support For Windows 7 - Bootcamp

Nov 13, 2009

Setting aside the temporary lack of support for Windows 7, I was wondering which I should install. I have a few older titles/games that I would like to use/play from time to time. All of them were designed for XP. I'm sure Windows 7 will more than likely run them fine, but is it really my best option?I'm not planning to invest in any additional Windows software (at least that's the current plan). The cost is the same so I'm asking for opinions and comments from others.

I assume this must have to do with my recent software update (installed today)

Now, when I open my email and many web pages - notably google, it seems as if the default viewing font has changed.. even the text on the "submit" buttons and things like that has changed...

and whats worse is the new font is barely legible. I don't have any idea what has happened or how to fix it... can someone please help, this is really annoying!

MacBook Pro :: Does New Support Nvidia Optimus In Bootcamp?

Jun 11, 2012

Battery life in bootcamp was pretty bad on the last version because it was always using the discrete graphics card, I believe it never used the integrated graphics card.

I want to know if the new version will support what is know as nvidia Optimus, where you can switch back and forth between the integrated and dedicated graphics card while in windows (I.e. under bootcamp).

Windows On Mac :: Run Bootcamp Partition To Support Business Encryption?

Feb 7, 2010

My job has a policy requiring all laptops (all mobile devices, actually) to be encrypted. This is full encryption, requiring a username and password before it can even begin to boot into Windows. It is a 3rd party product. My question is, is there anyway to run a bootcamp partition to support this kind of business encryption? How about OS X? What about inside of a VM?

OS X :: Safari Update Support In G3 Running 10.2.8?

Sep 11, 2006

I am farily new to macs in general and am confused about one thing. In windows, you can always update the browser regardless of your windows version. OS X 10.2.8 is not all that old but I cannot update safari to 2.0.4 like in 10.4.7. Is support for 10.2.8 discontinued? Am I forced to use firefox if I want an up to date browser? BTW, this is on an old Beige G3 so 10.2.8 is the highest OS.

Applications :: Final Cut Express Update (1080p Support)

May 12, 2008

I'd love to see Final Cut Express get an update since it hasn't been updated since 2007! It does support up to 1080i HD widescreen, but 1080p is not supported. This is frustrating as iMovie is a consumer product and I prefer the look of Final Cut.

I know I could just purchase Final Cut Studio and get Final Cut Pro, and have 1080p support, but I don't want to spend that much money. Final Cut Express was perfect in that it had the look of Final Cut Pro! I wish Apple would release an update, but I haven't heard anything.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: NAS Disk Name Changed

Jun 16, 2012

I use a NAS for backups and external storage. At some time in the past week, my backup operations stopped working, and I think I have tracked down the source of the problem. Somehow, an "extension" got added to the disk name (I did not do this and I am not sure how it happened). The disk name (Cosmos) has not changed, but when right click and choose "get info", in the "Name and Extension" section, the disk shows up as Cosmos-1. Unfortunately, the name is greyed out and I can't change it.Does anybody know how I can remove the -1 extension and change the name back to Cosmos so that my backups see the disk again?

OS X :: BootCamp (10.6.4 Beta) Update For MacBook Pro

May 25, 2010

Apple on Tuesday released an update to its Boot Camp dual-booting software for owners of its most recent 13-inch MacBook Pros and also equipped developers with yet another beta of its impending Mac OS X 10.6.4 Update. Boot Camp Update for MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2010). According to Apple, the Boot Camp update addresses an issue that causes the Boot Camp Control Panel applet to display an error when the brightness tab is selected. It also fixes a glitch that left some users with no headphone sound. The update, which applies to theMacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2010) running Windows operating systems, is available for Windows 32 bit partitions and Windows 64-bit partitions.

Mac OS X 10.6.4 build 10F58
Separately on Tuesday, the Mac maker also pushed out Mac OS X 10.6.4 build 10F58, which arrived exactly one week after the company latest seeded developers with a beta (build 10F54) of the forthcoming Snow Leopard update. People familiar with the latest distribution say it swelled roughly 5MB in size to 581.3MB, but otherwise contained all the same focus areas and enhancements as the build that preceded it. Mac OS X 10.6.4 remains clear of known issues, those same people say. [View this article at AppleInsider]
