Two discs jammed in disc drive...

I recently had to reinstall iTunes with help from tech support after it kept crashing and now my disc drive is ejecting any disc that I put into it.
Info:
iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.6.8)
I am working on a Mac book Pro and I have been getting a message that my disc drive is full. How do I clear some space? I'm running OS X v 10.9.5
Info:
MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)
In trying to repair my hard drive, which disc utility said was corrupt, it stopped repairing it because it could not unmount the disc?I booted my macbook pro from my backup hard drive.

Is there a release or something to push the eject does not work
View 1 Replies View RelatedFirst, my MacBook is a little more than a year old and is no longer covered under warranty, so I would like to try any possible fixes (like cleaning the drive) before having to buy a new drive. Here's my problem: when I put a CD or DVD into the drive, it spins around and clicks a lot but never seems to really catch, and after about a minute or so of this, it ejects itself. It never shows up on my desktop, so the computer is unable to read anything from the CD or DVD. I know the problem is not the CD or DVD, because I've tried the same discs on other machines and they work fine. This problem came up on me gradually. It started happening a few months ago, and maybe only 1 out of 10 or 20 discs would it do this. Then it became a third of the time, then half of the time, and now it's about 99% of the time I try to insert a disc. I was able to get one disc to work a few days ago, but when I ejected it and reinserted it, it didn't work the second time.

The last time I used my cd drive was a couple months ago to burn a cd.
The cd didn't come out so I followed the steps to eject it and it came out properly. Since then I haven't used the drive until recently. When I went to enter a cd to burn some songs onto it, the drive wouldn't accept any discs. As if there was something in there but there is nothing.
some steps to get my cd/dvd drive to accept discs again please?
I recently got a couple of TDK DVD-R discs. However, every time I put one in my MacBook, it spins for a little and this then ejected.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that recently my macbook pro drive has been severely scratching DVD's now and then (doesn't always happen but when it does it renders the DVD unusable). At first I wasn't sure if it was the drive or not but now I am sure it is. The laptop hasn't been moved or dropped in anyway and its just started happening for no apparent reason - laptop isn't on a tilt either it hasn't been moved from the desk in weeks.
Is this an issue with the MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-868 drive? It's still in warranty and i'm going to take it into a authorised apple service provider tomorrow and see what they can do but I just wanted to check about this drive as I don't really want a replacement of the same drive if its just going to do it again. Also is there any chance apple could offer some form of compensation for the DVD that was just destroyed by it? It was a part of a boxset so kind of ruins the collection.
The Super Drive on my MBP seems to be completely busted, whenever I try to read a DVD or CD it takes the disc in, spins it around a couple of times and then ejects it again without ever coming up with any options as to what to do with the disc. Discs don't appear in Finder either. It's obviously failing to read the discs and ejecting them within 30 seconds.Â
Now I've searched for a solution and as a result I've reset the NVRAM to no avail, and also tried using a CD lens cleaner but that seemed to have no effect either, I guess maybe as it got ejected within just 30 seconds as every other disc does.Â
The next solution I've found online is to delete Finder's preference files. The files I'm supposed to delete are "com.apple.finder.plist" and com.apple.sidebars.plist", however neither of these files appear to exist on my computer. Â
I remember discovering the fault while my MBP was still in warranty but I rarely use the Super Drive so totally forgot about it and it's now out of warranty

I've been using this MBP since 2007, and, it's starting to fail me. I was using an external hdd on it since the internal one crashed, and, then the external one crashed. I just purchased a 250gig hdd which fits perfectly in my Macbook, but, now I have another issue that's been pressing me for some time that didn't bother me at all until now when I need to install Snow Leopard;
My Super Drive isn't reading discs at all, and, it's making this scary crackling noise. I uploaded a video on youtube of me putting 2 discs in it, 1 with content (World of Warcraft: The Frozen Throne) and the other without content (Just a blank CD).
Before I link the video, I'd like to note that I am apparently amazed by the laser seeing as how I point to it and make a note of it ._. URL
My iMac is making the most terrible noise when burning a disc, and after two or three tracks are burnt it gives me an error message and then will not burn anymore?

My G-4 startup disc is full and now the computer won't start up. I am told to put a startup disc in the drive and restart from it, but I cannot get the disc drive to open. I have tried everything, including copying over to external hard drive. I read that if you hold the mouse button down, the disc drive will open, but this hasn't worked.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a 2007 Intel MBP, running Leopard. I purchased the family version of Snow Leopard. When I tried to install it, it just spins the disc for a minute, makes the noise like it's trying to read it and then spits it out. All other discs work fine with my MBP so I know it is not the disc drive itself. I have all software "up to date." My brother installed SL on both of his MBs, one newer than mine and one older, just fine (with the same disc). I haven't seen anything out there with this issue so I wanted to start a thread to see if anyone knows how to resolve this issue (beyond taking it back to Apple and exchanging).

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that every time I eject a disc, I see some scratches. I put in the Star Trek Digital Copy disc into my iMac disc drive and when it ejected, I found a lot of scratches on it. My Sims 3 and Spore discs also have similar type of scratches. Is anyone having this problem or am I taking out the disc wrong causing the scratches? This is my first iMac and I'm a bit sad about this as I do not want to lug this computer back to the store to get a replacement... And if I return it, do I have to bring it back to the same store or can I go to one that is closer to me?

I came home for vacation and decided to reformat my imac g5 to get a fresh start. I backed up all my files, took out my leopard retail box, and was ready to go when I opened up the box, and noticed no disc. I have no idea where it went.I have the install discs from the computer when i got it, but it only has 10.4, so id rather not use them. I have the install discs from my macbook pro with 10.5, but I am pretty sure it will not work.So does anyone have any suggestions? Should I just go ahead and install 10.4 until and then just install 10.5 when i find it? (i really hate doing this, I hate having more than one version of an os installed)

I am new to this forums and want to know if my dvd mini discs will fit into the dvr drive on an iMac. I also have an older Powerbook and would also like to know if the mini discs will fit also. I haven't tried this yet because I don't want to loose the discs or ruin my drives. I just bought a used iMac 20" widescreen and wanted to just put my mini discs from my camcorder into it without having to plug the unit in via hard wire.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to burn a DVD of files I want to back up from my computer, and it gives me this error when I try to burn a DVD from the folder that my files are in. Finder gives no mention that there is a DVD in the DVD-drive, but it does pop-up with a message recognizing that a DVD was inserted initially. My drive has been working fine in the past, so this is something that has just recently happened to my computer. Does anyone have any ideas about this? My computer specifications are in my signature below and I'm running leopard 10.5.6.
The specific error message that I get is this "the disc could not be used because the disc drive is not supported." I did a google of this, but the results turned up stuff relating to 10.3 and 10.4, neither of which being relevant to my situation
I don't have an internal disc drive in my Mac, but I like to upload music and watch movies as well as play some video games... Would it be possible to buy an externa one that is compatible with my Macbook, and would it be very expensive?Â

As many of you may have experienced, my MBP disc drive has died. (Model of my laptop is MacBook Pro 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (15.4-inch)) It wont read anything, burn anything, just spins and spits discs back out. Was just wondering if anyone had any experience of putting a new drive in? I've found a load of info on upgrading hard drives but i can't find much on replacing the disk drives.

So I wanted to watch a DVD on my Macbook. I inserted the dvd and nothing happens, I then realized for some reason I no longer have a dvd drive (I just played a dvd on my macbook a couple of months ago) Now I can't eject the dvd. I've tried pretty much everything (holding the mouse pad, using terminal). It's as if I don't even have a eject button. I also don't have apple care and had to bring my computer in about 3 months ago to get fixed and that was a nice enough bill that I have to pay off.

My friend is offering me his 2008 macbook pro for 650 should I do it here are the specs
Model Family: MacBook Pro
Display: 15"
Processor Type: 2.6GHz Core 2 Duo
Model Number: A1260
Color: Aluminum
Factory: China
Production Year:2008
Production Week:22 (May)
Production Number:774
200 gb hd
4gb of ram
also apple care til jun 11
OK so I bought the computer for 650 from my friend and soon after buying found a problem. The problem was the optical drive not reading all the disc that I put in the system. So I took the macbook pro to apple they installed a new super drive. I get home today and try to install snow leopard and have a issue. The way I went about was starting up holding the option button and waiting to boot from the disc for a fresh install. First time I tried I got a symbol that look like the restricted sign you see when you cant smoke in a area ect... So I restart and try again this time I get to the install screen click does the estimation ect.. 34 minutes than goes to 28 minutes pretty much has frozen there now, and after waiting all this time about 20 minutes I get the spinning beach ball. Also forgot to say that the super drive is now super dooper annoying loud and make odd sounds too with vibration. So I guess make another apple gen bar apt? And have them possible replace the super drive again?
