whenever i use my built in camera on my macbook pro its dark as if there isnt any light in the room. it only started doing this after i tried to use the "rollercoaster" effect on photo booth.

On my desktop MacMini I have a Logitech USB webcam. As it is on a cable I wanted to use the Logitech with the MacBook. I plugged it in and it is recognised as an alternative by Skype, but not by Photo Booth or iMovie.
I want to use it with iMovie to make a short video of a maintenance procedure, but I can't find any preference setting that will discover the Logitech cam, let alone allow me to choose it.
Can I use the built-in camera on my Macbook Pro (circa 12/2010,OS X v.10.7.3) to record video? If so, what app to use?

I have OSX 10.5.8. In the past, I was able to use PhotoBooth, but now when I open it, all options to take a photo are grayed out. The screen, where, I believe, previously I'd seen whatever was in the built-in camera's lens (generally whatever I put in front of the screen to photograph), I now see all black with a white camera icon crossed out. Skype works fine though. When I try to load iChat, it crashes unexpectedly. For clarification, I'm using the built-in cam and do not have external camera hooked up to it. I don't really care about iChat, which I never use, and am very, very glad that Skype, which I do use, is working. However, I would very much like to get PhotoBooth working.

I know this may sound very elementary but there was no documentation with my Mac when I bought it new (except a thin flimsy pamphlet with very basic stuff in it) and the support menu comes up with nothing at all when I search for webcam, webcam or isight. Where do I go to learn about how to use the built-in camera/webcam as a camera and also as a webcam?

I can barely see digital pictures and the likes. But websites and such i can see fine so long as the colors are light and looking on this site... [URL]
the first image i absolutely cannot see, it is 100% pitch black.. the other bellow it shows up just fine. But the two left/lowest squares on the color table on the very bottom the page both appear the same shade of pitch black.
I can see light but not dark. I tried callibrating and adjusting brightness and contrast.
Surely this is a pretty standard feature in laptops now, particularly with Apple's obsession with iPhoto etcDoes it come as an option?How do you get your pics off your camera? You have to connect a usb cable from the laptop to the camera?
View 24 Replies View RelatedIt seems that every time I open iPhoto, it creates a new folder named "Library recovered Photos 1, ...2, ...3, etc". This folders are filled with unix files with very long names in alphanumeric characters. I first notice this when my HD was getting filled to capacity and I was barely adding any files to it. I found this folders in the Pictures folder (I imagine it's the root level for iPhoto folders and associated files) and went ahead and deleted all 180 GB of them. Got back my HD space and iPhoto works fine without them...but I have noticed that every time iPhoto is opened it creates a new folder with this files in them. None of my other machines have this files created in them. What can be causing this? I've check Preferences and there's no option to turn this on/off.

Since I have installed SL, when I try to print to PDF from the print menu or save a PDF I'm viewing with Preview (for example) from a website, the text of the PDF is completely garbled/scrambled.
I don't have this problem when I use Acrobat 8 Pro only when I am using the OS PDF or saving and/or printing from Preview. I have cleared the font cache, but no solution.
I've got a folder called Blanks/ABC FM/SMS/Other and when I compress it I get two zip files of the same size: one with the correct name and the other called Archive.zip. When I remove the space I only get the Archive.zip. When I remove the slashes I get the correct zip file only.
