OS X :: Mail Rejecting Password For Gmail Account

Jul 30, 2010

All of a sudden, Mail has begun rejecting my password for my Gmail Account. Yesterday the password was fine and had been fine for about 10 or 11 months, until tonight. This is the box I see when I try to get mail: Mail is rejecting every single password that I use. I'm 100% positive that I'm entering the correct password. Is it possible that Gmail is down or doing maintenance which is causing this problem?

MacBook Pro :: Its Mail Keeps Rejecting My Yahoo Password

May 17, 2012

I have my yahoo email account set up in my mac Mail. Recently I keep getting this message saying that IMAP server "" rejected the password. My password is all correct and I checked "Remeber this password in my keychain" but it still doesn't work. This message keeps poping out everytime no matter whether Yahoo is trying to receive new emails or not.

I originally thought it was a probelm from Yahoo, and I had emailed them this problem, and they said they had solved this issue from their end even though I kept telling them my password is still not accepted. The strange thing is that I think I could still send and receive emails (although not sure if I am receiving all the emails since the message kept poping out and that my yahoo keeps on going processing mode and then in the end a triangle with exclamation mark just appeared)

Another strange thing is that I have another Yahoo account on my Mail, yet this one never had simialr problem like this before. It is alsways this particular account I have that is having this problem.I tried changing my password, logging in Yahoo from their website making sure the POP setting has checked. Still didn't solve my problem

I have tried going into my keychain to verify and repair my password from Keychain First Aid. But no problem was found.I have also tried deleting my account from Mai Preference and re-added back on, still doesn't work. The first time this problem had happened to this account, I ended up deleting it from Mail and added back on and it seemed to work, however this time nothing seems to be working.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Mobileme Server Rejecting Email Password?

Apr 1, 2012

When I tried to check my email on my mac this morning I got a message saying the account was offline. It asked for my mobileme password which I put in but it was rejected with the message:

"The MobileMe IMAP server “” rejected the password for user “xxxx.xxxx”

Enter your password again or cancel."

I also get this pop-up message when I re-enter my password:

"There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “MobileMe” or try again.

The server returned the error: Moved: [URL]

I know the password to be correct as I've signed into both my mobileme and icloud accounts online. I switched to an icloud account several weeks ago.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Mail App Rejecting Password?

Feb 4, 2012

I have been using apple mail for a while now, I have 4 accounts on it (2 gmail accounts, 2 psmail accounts).  All of a sudden yesterday both psmail accounts stopped sending and receiving emails, and apple mail started asking for my password.  I am able to sign in to both accounts online, AND I am able to send and recieve emails via my ipod touch.  So it seems to be a problem just with the mail app.

ICloud :: Its Mail Keeps Rejecting My Password

Mar 29, 2012

I keep getting the annoying message "The iCloud IMAP server "" rejected the password for user xxxxx" Enter your password again or cancel. This annoying message pops up randomly every few hours on all of my devices running Mail. After talking to Apple support a few times, the problem was escalated to a Specialist who suggested the following:

1) Change the "Check for Mail interval" from Every Minute to a longer interval (e.g. Every 5 minutes).Maybe I don't understand the way that iCloud IMAP works, but I thought only POP mail requires a specified interval for polling for new mail. The beauty of IMAP should be that all events and changes to Mail are reflected instantly to all devices.

2) Change your Mail pasword. I didn't want to do that because it would take a lot of work on the number of OS X and iOS devices that I own.

I have not been able to receive or send any mails from my mac or ipod touch. When I get onto the icloud. site I can see that my mails are coming through so it seems to be a port/server problem with mail settings.

Have tried every trick posted online - deleted old account and set it up again, changed port settings to 993 and reconfigured for imap.

OS X V10.5 Leopard :: Mail Rejecting Mac Password And Won't Retrieve Messages

Mar 13, 2012

Mail has worked flawlessly for me for several years. But this week, it stopped loading (retrieving) my messages from my .mac/me/iCloud service. For some reason, my .mac account in Mail is offline. When I try to take it back online, mail tells me that my password isn't being accepted. (But it works just fine if I go to my iCloud account and use it to log on and check my mail there. And it's no prob retrieving my mail on my iPhone, either.)

(I have several other e-mail accounts set up in Mail, and they work just fine. Only my .mac/me/iCloud account stopped working.)I've tried to change various settings in the preferences for the account, but it's been to no avail. Some of the various error messages I've received after trying to fix the prob:And here are info panels I see when I check the account in Mail's preferences:Note how port 993 is greyed out here; it's not greyed out for my other email accounts (and it's the same port w/ those, too).

Jun 15, 2012

Every now and then, like just now, when I opened up mail I get a message, : Enter the password for Account MobileMe. But I enter my correct password again and it still rejects it.This has happened before and usually self corrects in a day or so, but still is seriously annoying. My wife's MacBook Pro did this a couple days ago and still wont work. She has a MacBook Pro, I have a MacBook. They both run Snow Leopard and we both switched over to ICloud a while back.

IMac PPC :: Email Pop-up Box Keeps Coming Up The POP Server "" Rejecting Password?

Mar 21, 2012

I am having trouble with our email account. A pop-up box keeps coming up: the POP server "" rejected the password for user I've reset the password and it's still not working. SBC/ATT says it's an Apple issue, not their issue... that Apple mail is not recognizing the account or something like that. I've also tried adjusting to "recieve mail manually" instead of automatically (on all of our apple products) - still not working. Continual pop-up box rejecting password, no mail coming in to that account either.

Applications :: Mail Replying From Wrong Email Account / Sends Mail From Other Account

Feb 12, 2009

MBP, OS X 10.4.11, Mail v2.1.3.

I have more than one email account set up on Mail and the strangest thing happens and I can't find out how to stop it.

Here is the problem:

- I have 2 accounts, 'Account A' is for my partner & 'Account B' is for me.
- Someone sends an email to 'Account A' (my partner) and CCs 'Account B' (me) into the same eMail.
- If I click reply from 'Account B' it sends the eMail from 'Account A' which is my partner, when it should be from me.

I have worked out that this is because 'Account A' was originally sent the eMail in The 'To' field as opposed to the 'CC' field in composing the reply eMail. I know that I can manually change the 'From' field every time when replying to an eMail but it becomes an nuisance. I forget to do it when quickly replying as I consider Mail to reply from the account that I'm reading the email from.

I have gone to the compose section in the preferences and there is an option for changing this when composing a new email but nothing when replying.

MacBook Pro :: Sending Mail With Google Account - Application Specific Password Required

Aug 24, 2014

I have problems sending mail to people (not everybody) since Google obliged me to change my password on my Google account (attempt breaking-in apparently).

It took me a long time to re-configure everything, I choose the "double" protection from Google (with sms), and my Mac asked me this morning to give several times my Apple ID password, for iMessage, Face Time, etc...)

Now it's not possible to send a mail to my office. It is when I send it via website of Google, NOT when I use "Mail" on my Mac.

This is the message (partly in dutch) :  Application-specific password required. Learn more at [URL] .....
