Applications :: Using IWeb To Publish Website On MobileMe

Jan 28, 2009

Many years back, I used to have a website on freewebs (now known as web dot com). I would pay a monthly fee to host it and publish directly through their website by accessing my account online. Recently, I visited the site and found it still exists. Only that it has lots of advertisements on it since I don't pay a monthly fee anymore. Now that I have a Mac, I wanted to use iWebs to create a new website. It says I can use MobileMe to publish the website I create with iWebs. So my questions are:

(1) Will MobileMe act as my new host to which I pay the yearly subscription fee?
(2) My previous host had a charge for the amount of gigabytes I published , site traffic (bandwidth), etc., what are my limits for MobileMe?
(3) The main reason I was considering to purchase a MobileMe account is so I can use it as my host for a website published through iWebs '09 since they say thats the easiest way to publish. I would use the other MobileMe non-website features if I bought a subscription, but really would not purchase it unless it was for this website publishing tool. Do you think its worth it?
(4) Is there anything different about using MobileMe as a website host than my previous host (i.e. freewebs)?
(5) I had purchased a website name on GoDaddy which I still own. I used to redirect my freewebs site to this website name I had purchased on GoDaddy. Can I redirect my MobileMe hosted website to this website name I purchased on GoDaddy just like I used to do with my old Freewebs site?
(6) I don't see anything on the MobileMe page at Apple Store giving information about hosting charges, maximum limits, bandwidth, etc. It mostly just talks about publishing photo albums, e-mail, contacts, calendars, etc. Is there anything important I need to know about using MobileMe as my sole host for publishing a website?

Software :: Still Publish A Site To Mobile Me?

I just want some clarification on this, with .mac you could obviously publish a website to it, is this still possible with mobile me? The site and all info provided at this point makes no indication of it, but with 20 gigs of space you've got to be able to, because what happens to iweb and all the other site hosted by people's .mac? I'm gonna get a free mobile me, I don't have a .mac but if I'm gonna use it, it hinges on being able to host my site from it.

Apr 20, 2010

In the process of making an iweb site, still alot to do though. Uploaded what i have done so far and have run into a problem when viewing it on my sisters windows computer at work. The page in question is: [URL] The flash window on the left that displays the panoramic looks fine on my laptop with Safari and Firefox, though on my sisters Windows (whom most of my audience will be viewing with) the flash box only comes down to 3/4s of its propper size, exposing the shape i have placed behind it to act as a border. Does anyone have any idea on what may be causing this and maybe a solution? Could it actually be a problem with my sisters work computer?!

Applications :: IWeb - Moving Site From Desktop To Powerbook.

Jul 11, 2007

I want to move my iWeb website from my tower to my Powerbook, but be able to move it back later.

It makes more sense to have it on the PowerBook sometimes, so I can write blog pages and make minor updates on-the-go.

I'd also like to be able to move it back to my tower so when I want to use the media browser for larger (though less frequent) updates that involve pulling photos from iPhoto, or tunes from iTunes, I can do that easily.

So.. what do I need to grab off the tower to make sure I've got everything so I can open and work on it on my PowerBoook?

Applications :: Unable To Edit A Site Via Iweb / After Reboot

my MBP's hard drive just died. Disk Repair, DiskWarrior, and Disk Utility all agree my apple partition is screwed and unmountable.

I've been able to get it temporarily so that i can boot via an external drive. This is not my issue, my issue is that I have been working on a website for a company. It's been published and everything. My problem is that now that I lost the original files, am I going to be unable to edit it via iweb?

I have 5 days or so until my disk makes it to me (yeah, I'm overseas in an area without an apple store or service center to take my mac to), so I guess I'll find out for myself then.

Hardware :: How To Publish Hi Quality Images To Webcam Site

Jan 9, 2010

I have a web cam attached to my Mac but the quality is rubbish wrt what is published. I do not want advice on making video calls I have that working fine with Skype. I am after advice on publishing from my web cam a view form my window every so many seconds. Does anyone know how to get a high quality webcam and how to publish it to the web. At the moment my test webcam page is here: [URL]. I am using EVOCAM for MAC to publish the view to the web and I have a philips SPC900NC web cam which is a pretty good web cam on my PC. I got it working on the MAC by purchasing third party drivers.

My point is a lot of new webcams these days are capable of VGA streaming but when you are publishing a webcam to the internet like mine above you are effectively only wanting to take 1 picture every 30 seconds rather than streaming. So is there a way of just taking a picture with your web cam, some of the new webcams take pics up to 8 Mp and publishing that rather than publishing the video web camera frame which is much lower quality. So publishing a picture and not a video frame. That way you could get much sharper and better quality pictures published to the page every say 30 seconds.
