There used to be a way to just share my address book with someone, but now that seems to be gone.Â
I've looked around a bit and so far the only thing I am seeing is where this is done through some server set up, which is way overkill for what we want to do.Â
I just want to be able to share my entire contact list/address book.Â
I tried exporting my address book, and then on importing to hers, I am informed that it will REPLACE everything in her current address book. Not what we want.Â

The problem is that when my photos are brought up on my girlfriends account they are at a very low resolution to what the file actually is. It's like taking a DSLR photo and making it camera phone quality. How can I improve this? can it be done or does iphoto lower the resolution to get a fast transfer time?

Jan 6, 2010I'm surprised I wasn't able to find much at all on this by searching this forum or the web. Maybe I'm looking for the wrong thing. Anyway, here goes:
I want to share an Address Book between different user accounts on the same Mac, without resorting to using MobileMe or another sync tool that requires internet access to function. I had hoped to set it up where the Address Book is in the Shared folder and accessed by each user, but that doesn't appear to be possible. It's surprising that this isn't a natural function in native Mac OS X.
I've also tried exporting an Address Book Archive to the Shared folder. It shows on my account to be 1.6MB. When I log in as another user, it shows to be Zero KB, even after changing permissions, and importing into Address Book does nothing.

I saw and tried lots of solutions in the discussions about this re: Snow Leopard, and none of those solutions worked -Â especially the solutions that involve going into [main hard drive]> Application Support>Address Book and so forth. There IS no folder in Application Support for Address Book. Repaired permissions and all that sort of thing.

Apr 25, 2012I have run into a similar problem before, when Address Book stopped accepting changes to contacts altogether. I followed advice I saw on the web and deleted the .plist files for Address Book in the Preferences file in my Library. That worked like a charm. Now, that doesn't work.
I have deleted the files, restarted my computer, verified and fixed permissions using Disk Utility, and let my computer rest overnight by leaving it off. Nothing works and I've tried several combinations of order. I am running Mac OSX 10.6.8 on a first generation Intel MacBook Pro. All software is up to date

IMac :: Can't Share Folders On OS X 10.6.2
Jan 15, 2010So the problem is.. I was using a MBP as my main computer and my husband had the imac 24". He ordered the imac 27" and gave me the imac 24" to use and the laptop is now in its bad where it belongs.
So we both ported over our stuff.. he ported the info from the 24" imac to the 27" and then did a clean swipe of it and I ported the laptop's stuff over to the 24" that was at the point cleaned and empty.
When I did that something weird happened with the users where, instead of making me (the user from the laptop) the main admin it added it under a default admin. I had to switch the priorities around (make me the admin and the default user a reg. user) and then delete the default user.

OS X :: Can't View Files On IMac From Windows XP Share?
Jul 16, 2009I recently convinced my Mom to buy a Mac. We got her a new 20" iMac and she loves it. I'm in the process of transferring over all of her files from her PC over a network share, but I'm having trouble viewing those shared files.
I am connecting to the PC through the smb:// protocol and I can see the share... but not the files in it. I've double checked the permissions and everything seems to be in order, but no avail. I even checked the firewall settings on both computers.
I myself have a desktop PC and a MBP setup. I have no problem accessing any shares on my PC from my MBP, and I've done nothing different with my Mom's setup.
