ITunes Mac :: How To Stop Determining Gapless Playback

Yet again, another iTunes upgrade has caused the horrible gapless playback scan to occur on my iTunes library. As a result, iTunes is totally unresponsive until this action completes. In my case, it's really slow as I'm accessing my files wirelessly from a network drive. I have to keep canceling the rescan to use iTunes. For the most part it keeps track of where it left off, however some files keep getting rescanned.

Here's what I've observed so far (not that it solves anything)

Applications :: ITunes Determining Gapless Playback - How To Stop It
just moved my whole iTunes library (21560 songs) to my 2TB Time Capsule... And well everything went great, until I updated to iTunes 10, it updated the iTunes library on open, fine, took two minutes on the ageing MBA, but now, it is Determining gapless playback for my entire library... And it's been going for about 6 hours and it's on 856/21560, so my question is... Is there anyway to stop iTunes doing this?

ITunes Mac :: Determining Gapless Playback Information?
One of the many issues I'm having with iTunes, Time Capsule (where the music is stored) and AirTunes.

Does anyone know how to terminate the 'determining gapless playback information' function? That is to say, keep it from even happening/starting?

Everytime I start iTunes, it does this. I have over 14,000 songs and I get the spinning beach ball and cannot use iTunes. If I let it run for awhile (2 hours?), I can eventually X out of it in the iTunes window.

ITunes Mac :: Determining Gapless Playback Information Constantly
Every single time i start itunes, it goes through the process of "determining gapless playback" for approximately 300 songs and takes about 5 minutes or so, during which time itunes doesn't respond at all.

it seems to do this for the same songs each time, despite the fact that I don't have gapless playback enabled for any tracks. My only recourse at the moment is to hunt down each track and remove it from itunes, but this is a very time-consuming (never mind pointless) task

ITunes Mac :: Determining Gapless Playback And Processing Album Artwork Is Painfully Slow?
I am running iTunes 10 on my macbook running 10.5.8. I have all my music on a server on the local network, and the mac user has full control on the share. When I try to build my library of about 6000 songs the "Processing album artwork"and "determining gapless playback is painfully slow. It has been running for almost 24 hours and is only half way through. The worst part is itunes is completly locked up while it is doing this, so I cant do anything with it. Cant check any preferences, cant click anywhere, just get the pinwheel.

ITunes :: Determining Gapless Playback Information?
I open iTunes and first thing it does (every time!) is "Determining Gapless Playback Information" for a small (400 tracks, approx) subset of my 4,000 tunes library. I've checked and re-checked my tunes. I have NO tracks set to "Part of a gapless album".this process repeats itself sometimes when I'm importing new tunes, even after the app has been launched for awhile. iTunes starts scanning the same 400 (approx) files AGAIN, as I add new music. It takes 30-60 seconds to run through this process. Annoying!

ITunes Mac :: How To Determine Gapless Playback Information
I have a MacBook and a music library that's store on an external hard drive. While I've added my songs to iTunes, it's now chugging through the stupid 'Determining Gapless Playback' step and is taking an agonizingly long period of time (roughly 10 minutes per track). At this rate, the next time I'll be able to use iTunes and sync my iPhone will be the year 2035. I've searched the internet high & low and found no help for speeding this operation up or better yet, turning it off. I understand that some albums would more or less require it, but this seems very, very, very poorly architected.

ITunes :: Merged Albums - Gapless Playback For Opera CDs
I have several multi-CD opera albums loaded into iTunes for Mac. I've merged them (same album name, marked as part of a compilation, though I've kept the individual CD #s and track #s) so that each opera shows as one album in iTunes. I've also set gapless playback. This works fine for tracks within each of the opera's discs (i.e. no gap between track 2, 3, 4 etc.)

I'm still hearing gaps when iTunes moves from one CD to the next (i.e. between the last track on CD 1 and the first track on CD 2). The gap is about 5 seconds and seems to occur whichever opera/ set of CDs I playback. Is there a way to eliminate this? I don't think this gap is native to the CDs themselves as it occurs across tracks that are part of the same act/scene. I'm using the latest version of iTunes and this refers to playback on my Mac.

ITunes Mac :: Determining Audio Volume - Total Freezing Or Hang Up
I recently added a lot of music to my iTunes library, and when I opened up my iTunes in the window it reads "Determining Audio Volume, Analyzing 1 of 163" then the spinning ball comes out and my computer completely freezes. Once it freezes nothing will unfreeze and I can't open anything else. So I have to force quit and shut down. And as soon as I open iTunes again, same ol' problem. I've gone into the Activity Monitor and opened up iTunes to see if I could find the culprit file and delete it. Unfortunately, that doesn't help because it doesn't list the file, or any files. I've even deleted all of the music I recently added, but that didn't help either.

Logic Studio :: Find A Bug With Start And Stop Of Playback Channels?
I am having a problem with playback channel strips in Mainstage 2. They don't start with the space-bar. I have to double-click the channel strip and start them using the play button which makes it rather unwieldy for a real concert. The space bar works to stop them, but not to restart them again. All of my playback tracks come from Logic 8 and possibly earlier (a recording spanning 5 years). I added a click track to each song because Mainstage is not getting the tempo from the tempo track in the songs (I guessed this was because they weren't logic 9 songs). I made the click track start before the first marker so I would get a count-in and pushed it to the left-side so I can play the track without click in mono.

Mac :: ITunes Pauses During PlayBack?
this is happened before in a version of iTunes 9. Now it is worse, as I am playing back songs in iTunes it is random and no pattern to it, the song will pause for a second then start playing again where it left off. All my media is stored on a Drobo via FW800 and the computer is an iMac 27 with 8GB of RAM. This is not an issue of machine or FW, is this an iTunes can not handle the 30,000 songs I have? Is this a bug? The songs never pause in the same place twice and it is not the files as I can stream them from another machine in the house and they do not pause at all. It seems that iTunes on my iMac is the only place it does this. It is random and weird and makes listing to music impossible in iTunes.

ITunes :: Mac Goes To Sleep While Playback
My Mac goes to sleep even when iTunes is playing. This is pretty ludicrous. Is there anyway to prevent this other than changing my power savings settings to never let my Mac go to sleep? I don't want to do that, I want my computer to go to sleep when I am not using it.†This sure seems like a bug. I am running the newest version of iTunes as well as Lion.

My current energy saver settings are:
Computer Sleep: 15 min
Display Sleep: 15 min
Put hard disks to sleep when possible - yes
Wake for network access - yes
Allow power button to put the computer to sleep - yes
Start up automatically after a power failure - no
Restart automatically if the computer freezes - no
Again, I would rather not have to change these settings in order to keep iTunes playing.

Is there a way to set iTunes to playback in mono? ITunes Mac :: Video Playback Sometimes Causes Logout
Sometimes when I start playing video content in iTunes, the OS crashes to the login screen. The computer itself does not restart, it just dumps to the login screen. If I log back in, everything seems to work fine, at least until the next time it happens. This only happens within the first five seconds or so of playing video content. It doesn't happen every time, nor always with specific content. I can watch a dozen different videos and it's fine, then the next one causes the crash, but after coming back in, the same video that caused the crash plays fine.

This exact same thing has happened one time, just once, when playing video content inside a Firefox window. OS X and iTunes are all updated to the latest version. In fact, I'm fairly certain that this phenomenon did not start happening until after the most recent iTunes update. The videos I've been watching in iTunes were all encoded by myself with Handbrake. The video in Firefox was commercially produced.
