ITunes Mac :: Burning Disc - How To Burn Blank Disc
I've always been able to burn discs on my MacBook. Yesterday I upgraded to iTunes 10, and then when I tried to burn a disc, it kept asking me to put in a blank disc, and when I do it tells me the disc is not blank. I have tried several blank discs, and it just keeps ejecting them.

When I insert a disc, iTunes recognizes it as a blank disc because the message pops up about saying it's a blank disc and how to burn a disc. But, when I go to burn it, it says my disc is not blank.

I know it has to be a problem with iTunes 10 and not my computer or my discs because I was able to burn CDs a few days ago before the upgrade.

ITunes Mac :: Error -8785 While Burning Disc 2 Of 3 During Back Up To Disc?
I regularly back up my iTunes library to DVD media-i hadn't done it in a few months and when I went to do so today using regular HP DVD+R discs that I've used before for this, the first disc burned fine (I needed three discs total, per iTunes).

Discs 2 and 3 immediately failed with a -8785 error code. I restarted my MacBook Pro and used different discs, and keep getting the same thing. It looks like iTunes is fine with the first disc I burned as backup since it now says only two discs are required for the incremental backup. But I can't backup my iTunes library to disc (apart from, say, data discs). Disc 1 in this series, incidentally, was disc 30 for my collection, so I'd like to keep it going. I'm using iTunes 10, but I don't think that's the issue, since the first disc burned fine.

ITunes Mac :: Insert Blank Disc - Back Up To Disc?
have Snow Leopard 10.6.5 and iTunes 10.1.1In the past i've backed up my library on to DVD+R, i have 201 4.7GB dvd's, but since i updated to iTunes 10, getting it to work has been a real pain in my Arse. At first i thought it might be the DVD+R disc's, so today i bought 50 DVD-R disc's and still nothing "Please insert a blank disc".

What the ****. seriously, i have months of downloads on iTunes that are not backed up. a few years back my 'old' external drive failed and i lost 800GB of content, granted most if it was ripped DVD's but it was a pain to rip them and i didn't want to do it all again, so i didn't. So when i have months of downloads that i can't back up, i get angry. Earlier today my iTunes external drive disconnected itself from my Mac during a download, which was a pain. And now i'm getting worried that if this Ext-Drive fails, i'll loose a lot of new downloads.I just restarted my Mac and tried again, it worked first time. But oddly, it would seem that if i use my iTunes for anything, downloading, listening, syncing to iPhone or ATV, before i try to back up, it won't work. It seems i have to restart my Mac then try for a back up.

OS X :: Burning Music Files To Disc?
I have a new macbook with the latest OS, I'm burning my itunes music folder to a disc. I notice that the folder burned to the disc is slightly larger (in bytes) than the original folder in itunes. It's still the same 4.18GB size, but if you notice the bytes on the burned dvd compared to that on the original itunes folder, the dvd bytes are higher. I even tried burning a second one, after restarting the computer, and the bytes match the original dvd I burned. Why the discrepancy between the original folder size in bytes on my computer and then one I burned onto a disc?

ITunes Mac :: Burning CD Of Purchased Music
I'm unable to burn a disc of music purchased from iTunes (purchased over the last two to three weeks). I'm using an iMac (Leopard 10.5.8) with iTunes 9.2.1. Seem to be making a nice collection of coasters here. I've been using iTunes for many years now, but have only just started buying from iTunes - is it normal not to be able to make a mix tape of songs to listen to in the car or away from the computer?

ITunes Mac :: ITunes Frequently Loses Links To Music In Music Folder?
I have been using iTunes for years on my iMac - through the various versions - and have always experienced this never-ending problem.(Not just me. My roomate, too, finds this same annoying issue on his Ẉindows iTunes install !): Here is what happens: periodically (about once a month or so)iTunes seems to lose its brains and it loses links to music files that are still in the proper music folder, right where they should be. The iTunes window then shows these broken links as ✓-checked files. Then I have to manually re-find the file for iTunes via the "Find Info" dialogue to un-select the lost tunes and have them available again in the app.

I've tried to fix this in a couple of ways, unsuccessfully :(1) "Restore" my iPod; (2) re-import all songs to iTunes library.

ITunes Mac :: Music Folder Within My Music Folder
Just upgraded to a new Mac Pro, and moved all my music over. I was combing through my music folder when I noticed that I have a Music folder within my Music folder. I moved all the music out and re-added it to my library in iTunes, but when I went back to my Music folder, iTunes had re-created the Music folder again. I have iTunes set to keep my music organized, but I can't figure out why iTunes keeps putting a Music folder within my Music folder.

There also seems to be no rhyme or reason to what gets put in there. Some is purchased, some ripped and some downloaded appear in both the top level Music folder and the extra Music folder.

Anyone know why iTunes is doing this?

ITunes Mac :: Itunes Using Music And Tunes Folder For Music...
everything has been fine and all my music is normally located and imported to
/users/userid/music/itunes/itunes media/

normally all my music goes into the /tunes folder
but for some reason some of the songs I have been adding recently are being added into a /music folder instead...

this is not an issue with itunes but it annoying and causes problems with other applications which rely on files being located where they are supposed to be, in which case the /tunes folder.

this has only happened since the most recent 9.1.1

I dont know if anyone has had a similar experience.. please let me know if I need to check / change some settings..

ITunes Mac :: Maintaining File / Folder Hierarchy When Burning Data CD?
I've been using iTunes to burn mp3 discs to play in my car stereo. Due to the way the stereo reads these discs, I need to burn them with the file structure intact, in order to be able to switch easily from one album to the next.

iTunes used to do this for me if I burned as a "data cd." However with the latest version, the data cd option still results in a disc with only one root folder with all of the tracks numbered. It's exactly the same as burning an MP3 disc, which doesn't make sense to me.Is there a setting that I need to adjust in order to maintain the file structure on data cds? Or do I need to find a new program?

ITunes Mac :: See IPod Songs In ITunes - But Can't Save Them In Library Or Music Folder?
Initially had loaded my iTunes onto a PC and "homeshared" to my Mac. PC died and could not disable homesharing on THAT end. But did disable homesharing on my Mac.

Synced by iPod (appears to be a PC model) and all songs showed up under device in iTunes. But, all songs were downloaded from CDs (not iTunes store). So: tried to select all and save to a new folder under music. No dice.

Tried "Add to Library" from iTunes File Menu...nada. Since the songs were originally loaded to the iPod from a Windows PC, do I need a utility in order to get them uploaded to my Mac? Really don't want to have to re-record them all (>1000 songs) and know I must be missing something obvious here.

ITunes Mac :: Music Folder ?
I have a 30GB iPod Classic and, due to a dying battery and a need for more storage, I'm getting the latest model for Xmas. Over the years when I've purchased an album, I've had, to make room, to remove prior purchases/CD burns and instead of trashing them, move them, I assume to the Music folder.

Here's my question: when I get my new, higher-capacity iPod, how do I go about getting not only what's on my iTunes but also what I'd had to set aside in the folders transferred into the new unit?

ITunes Mac :: Which Music Folder Should I Move And Where Should I Put It
this is my first post on here. I'm currently on a windows laptop and I have my first macbook coming tomorrow. I've been sorting through all of my files to get ready for moving, but I'm not sure what to do with my music files.

In my "Music" folder on Windows, I have my own 'Music' folder which contains all the files of the songs i've imported and downloaded; and then there's my 'iTunes Library' folder, which has copies of all of thise songs because I have iTunes. So my first question is which of these folders do i move?

Secondly, where do I put the folders/music on my macbook? Do I paste it all into the "Music" folder, or do I open up iTunes and paste it all directly into there? If I put it all in the Music folder will it automatically go into iTunes? Or will I then have to import it all myself?

I think they're quite simple questions, I'm just not sure what way to go about it so that everything is organised and where it should be.

ITunes Mac :: Missing Songs In Music Folder?
I recently found that I have missing files in my iTunes music folder. The missing songs seem to be random. For instance, Abby Road is missing tracks 3 and 6. My music folder is on my main hard drive and I also have a Time Capsule backup.

When I look for the songs in my backup disk, I find I have to go back as far as 4 months to restore some of them and I just now found a song that was there yesterday but gone today. This leads me to believe that a few songs are randomly being deleted every day. Anyone else with this problem?

I'm using iTunes 10.1 but apparently I've been having this problem for at least 4 months now so I believe it was an earlier version when it started happening.

Applications :: Reorganizing Music From "Music Collection" Folder To "iTunes Media" Folder?
so here is my problem with iTunes.

I have music with correct IDE tags in a "Music Collection" folder, though they are all unorganized and in sub folders. These folders have names like "Other iTunes", "More Music", "New Music", etc. I would like to reorganize all this music into one iTunes folder. I have gone into preferences and tried checkmarking the boxes "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" and "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when to library". My iTunes Media folder is a fresh new folder in "My Music". When I check that exact location, I see none of my music has moved there. All I see is an empty "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder. All my files are still in the unorganized "Music Collection" folder.

What can I do to literally move all my unorganized music files from this folder to a completely fresh and new iTunes Media folder, all with very organized sub folders categorized by artist and/or album? My main goal is to make an organized and updated library, because I spent a good amount of time deleting duplicates that have not gone to the recycle bin (and it would take FOREVER to find all those duplicates and delete them permanently).
