IPhoto 11 :: Not Able To View Photos Inside Event
I have recently upgraded to iPhoto 11. All my Events look fine, except one. When I am viewing my Events in iPhoto (under Library), the Event I am having problems with does display on the main screen, it has the Event name I originally gave it and even says there are 18 photos in it. However there is no Key Photo assigned to the Event. And when I open the Event, my 18 photos do not show. Instead the Event shows 18 empty boxes. When I double click on an empty photo box (which should be showing the photo thumbnail), it gives me an explanation point.

IPhoto 11 :: Deleting Unused Photos Of Event
I do photography and end up clicking multiple shots of the same subject. I chose the good ones and create an album of the good ones. But now i want to delete the photos (completely) of all the photos which are NOT there in the good album. Is there a way to automatically tell iphoto to "Delete all the photos which are NOT in any of the albums i have created"? that way I can get rid of all the unused photos and retain only the used photos in my library.

IPhoto 11 :: Add Flagged Photos To Selected Event (Date Wise)
So I am having to bite the bullet and re-import all of my referenced pics to try and consolidate them eventually into my managed library. I start with my first folder, import it, select the 103 photos in the Event with a view of then going to the existing Event, Adding Flagged Photos to it and then deleting out the older non-linked ones. Except I cannot seem to get the Add Flagged Photos function to activate in any circumstances, it is simply greyed out and nothing I do seems to want to activate it.

Is this a bug or an odd change in functionality from 09? While we are at it, another function I used a lot in 09 was searching a photo by date from the search box in the bottom bar. I would select date, hold down the Alt button to select all pics on that day i.e. 13/12 and iPhoto would display them. It doesn't now, I follow this exact same flow and it will display all pictures that are December pics instead of the single day specific ones.

IPhoto 11 :: MobileMe Gallery Deleted Photos Also Deleted From Event?
I have just noticed what looks like new behavior in iPhoto '11 when deleting a photo from a MobileMe gallery. Here is what I did to recreate the problem/behavior:

1) Created iPhoto Event with 2 images in it.

2) Shared the Event to a new MobileMe Gallery by: Share, MobileMe Gallery, Add

3) Waited for the Event to be shared to MobileMe Gallery.

4) Opened the Gallery in iPhoto under the Source list, Web, MobileMe Gallery

5) Deleted 1 of the 2 images in the MobileMe Gallery, right-clicked, and selected Trash.
the Image is now deleted from BOTH the MobileMe Gallery AND the iPhoto Event (see step 1) I confirmed this by opening the iPhoto trash and finding the image there, and then opening the iPhoto Event and finding the image missing there.I also just tried this with an Album...

1) Created a new Album.

2) Dragged an image from an Event into the Album.

3) Published the Album to MobileMe using Share/MobileMe Gallery/Add.

4) Opened the Gallery inside iPhoto Source list, and deleted the image.

5) Opened the Album - image deleted. Opened the Event - image ALSO deleted. Opened Trash - the image is in the Trash.

This seems like a bug, or at least behavior for which a warning should be given by the Trash dialogue box before deleting the image. Deleting an image from an Event after publishing the Album is especially surprising, and seems counter to the way Albums have always acted.

The albums aand events are all fine in iPhoto itself.

I've tried every option in the advanced startup mode of iPhoto (rebuild, rebuild from backup, rebuild thumbs, etc). I've also tried removing all photos from the iOS devices, then re-adding them.

Do I have to export the image, switch libraries, then import?

IPhoto 11 :: Opening Event On A Specific Photo?
I never realized how much I used this feature until it disappeared in the latest version of iPhoto. When mousing over your Events, the display would zip through each photo in the event as you move your mouse left/right across the Event tile. In iPhoto '09, whichever photo was displayed when you double-clicked to open the Event became the "focus" of the opened event. For example, say your mouse is positioned about 3/4 of the way to the right edge of the event, when you double-clicked, the Event would open already scrolled down near the end of the Event, focusing on the pic that was displaying as you clicked the Event to open it.

Now it seems that Events ALWAYS open to the first photo, regardless of mouse position when you double-click to open.

Is this a preference I'm not seeing? Anyone know how to restore this functionality? Wanted to check here before I submit the feature request to Apple.

IPhoto 11 :: Moving Flagged Duplicates To Another Event
Before upgrading to iPhoto 11, I used this basic workflow to prepare photos for Facebook:
1. Duplicate photos I want share on FB
2. Move these duplicates to an event called "Facebook Photos"
3. Edit the photos (crop, change captions, adjust color, etc.)
4. Share them with Facebook

My main reason for duplicating is that I like to keep my originals as they are, and I like to have different captions for my own private library vs the general public. Now comes iPhoto 11 and the originals move to the Facebook event even though I am only flagging the duplicate versions! I try moving the originals back into their event, and the duplicates move back. I cannot seem to separate an original from a duplicate into separate events.

IMovie 11 :: Duplicate Event In Videos From IPhoto?
I'm having an issue with how iMovie is showing my iPhoto Movies.

I initially went into iMovie and had it build my iPhoto Movie database. Sometime later, I decided to organize my events in iPhoto and merge some events, which would move some movies into one event, instead of two. The issue is that in iMovie, the Event Name has changed or merged into one, but the movies are still being displayed separately.

For example, I have an event London. When merging two events within London, in iMovie, the movies are displayed as:

iPhoto Videos - London
iPhoto Videos - London
iPhoto Videos - London

instead of all of the videos being displayed in just one "iPhoto Videos - London", it's displayed multiple times.

If there isn't a fix for this specific issue, is there a way to have iMovie rebuild the iPhoto movies section? If this is possible, will it destroy any movies I have already created?

IPhoto 11 :: First Photo In Event Assigned Wrong Place
When you assign a place to an entire event, the first photo of the event will retain the last place assigned at a prior time. If you open up the event and click on a photo you will see the wrong place flash on the into window and then settle back to the right place. So you must open each event you assign a place and just select any photo. It will then be correct for all photos.

IPhoto 11 :: Opening Event Containing Photo Found In Search?
Yet another thing gone from good in the previous version to bad in iPhoto 11 (what were the UI people thinking?) If I search (previously a 1-step operation, now a 2-step operation) and find a photo that says it's in an event with 18 other photos, how do I open that event so I can see the other photos? I tried double clicking on the event name, control-clicking to see if there is a contextual menu, etc., but can't find a way to get to the containing event itself. In the previous version as you scrolled through events you got indicators showing what date you were at. That seems to be gone as well.

Aperture :: Importing Individual Albums From IPhoto?
1) Manage bulk RAW files in iPhoto - import everything to a series of iPhoto libraries, using iPhoto Library Manager to keep everything straight.

2) For projects, import specific albums into Aperture using the normal "Import" command, then navigating to the specific iPhoto library and the album and importing that album, using the 'keep in current location' option.

3) All stacking, rating, etc. editing done in either Aperture using OnOne, NIK or Noise Ninja plug-ins, with trips out to Adobe Photoshop for heavy-lifting.

This has worked really well for me for a number of years. However, the current release(s) or Aperture don't allow me to import individual albums from iPhoto, only allow me to import the whole thing, with no option to 'leave in current location'.

Am I going to have to come up with a new workflow, or is there a solution to trying to import individual albums/photos from various iPhoto libraries while referencing them in Aperture?
