IPhoto 11 :: Crop Tool Out Of Control

It takes me ten times as long as usual to make crops. When I crop and image and let go of the tool the crop window starts drifting around and behaving like a rubber band, changing to whatever size it wants. I have to try 10 different sizes until iPhoto does not move it anymore, so it takes 10 times as long. Sometimes a pull down menu I don't want appears too.

The video material I'm cutting has a very annoying, eye-catching top and bottom edge. The topmost and lowest lines kind of wobble or jitter. I need to get rid of this.

Do I 'zoom in' / expand the picture, or is there a crop tool I haven't come across?

IPhoto 11 :: Can Crop And Edit From One Screen
In the new iPhoto it seems that my normal workflow has been disrupted. I often crop and then edit exposure, shadows, etc. In the older versions this could be done from one screen. But in the new one it appears that I first have to go to the Quick Fix and Crop screen, and then navigate to the Adjust screen, which is a pain. Is there any way around this?

IPhoto 11 :: How To Control Flickr Sync
Q1 - How can I do a one-way / once-off upload from iPhoto 11 to Flickr, such that there will never be any subsequent sync? Is this possible? (i.e. this way to make sure after the upload there will never be a case of, if I delete the photo from iPhoto it will then delete it from flickr, and vice-versa)

Q2 - I haven't actually observed yet a reverse sync whereby I modify the photo in Flickr in it's editor (e.g. colors) and see this change back in iPhoto? Does this reverse sync really work? I have noticed the delete's trickling back, but how about the touchups etc?

IPhoto 11 :: Control Layout Of "Sliding Panels"?
Is there a way to control the layout of the sliding panels slide show theme? I have quite a few photos I'd like to display in a rather short length of time. It is also challenging because the photos are stills I captured from some prior iMovie/iDVDs so the resolution just isn't there. Therefore I'm trying to keep the layouts with the smaller pictures: 3, 4, 5 panels at a time (which look much better) and remove the layout for the single picture, double picture which exposes the poor resolution and doesn't let me get as many pictures fit into the time I need.

Aperture :: Finding Crop Like Photoshop
However, when I import images into Photoshop for further editing, anything previously cropped in Aperture has the same aspect ratio but the pixel dimensions are smaller.

Whenever I used to crop in Photoshop, the aspect ratio AND pixel dimensions were preserved. This doesn't seem to be the case with Aperture. So it seems I'm going to end up send a bunch of images to my client that have the same aspect ratio but are all different sizes.

I've tried custom crops etc in Aperture and these also seem to constrain the aspect ratio but not the pixel dimensions.

Aperture :: Crop Of Imported Images?
If I crop a jpeg that I have imported from my camera, then apply a crop, the cropped image will fill the screen. However, if I import a jpeg from iPhoto or any other source (desktop, folder, etc.) and apply a crop, the cropped image will be small and does not fill the screen.

There must be some setting that will make the resultant view of a crop from an imported jpeg fill the screen similar to the behavior of a typical camera imported image. This is driving me nuts and I've spent hours trying to figure it out.

Applications :: Want To Crop A Regular Photo?
I've been trying to figure out how to crop a regular photo taken with my digital camera down to a 2x2 passport size photo. Everything I've found in the forums suggests ways I can change printing options, but since I'll be sending the photo out digitally, I'd like to know how to save the image in this size.

I don't have Photoshop (except for PS Express), and when i use iPhoto's "Custom Size" option to set it to 2x2, it looks to me like it's still in a rectangular shape. When I save it as a "Square" it turns into a square, but a square that fills the page. Are there any other options that I have?

Have To Go To QuickTime Pro Just To Crop Videos?
I will have to spend $60 ($30 for me and $30 for my 93-year-old dad) just to crop off the beginning and end of the MP4 videos that we load onto our PCs from our new Kodak cameras. (The cameras were only $65 each, which was the only reason I could afford them.)Bought the cameras for myself and my dad this spring, but most of our videos are of wildlife and pets. That means waiting before and after the animal does something interesting, and that means cropping the beginning and end. With our old Kodak cameras (videos were .mov format) we could do that with basic QuickTime, but not anymore.Apparently gotta go Pro just to make basic cuts.

Actually, I don't expect Apple to give away everything free, and wouldn't mind paying something for basic editing options. But Pro isn't basic, and it isn't cheap, especially considering I'd have to pay for it twice.IMO, Apple should offer a cheaper version that just does the basics.

Final Cut Pro :: How To Crop A Video From 16:9 To 9:16
I have some DVCPRO HD material shot at 960x720 of a fashion shoot. Client has just asked can he have some of the shots of the model standing straight in a 9:16 ration as they will be putting it on a web site and wanted to save space for all the blank material on the edge of the shot.

So how would I crop into the 16:9 video so that I only get the centre third and then export that to 360x640?

I was curious if I could cut or crop out that portion so the picture could be brought in so there would be less of a gap. I have a long video on my recorder and I only need like 30 seconds of it, I don't want to have to import the whole movie (it's HD, so it'll take a while). Is there a quicker way to do this? Aperture :: How To Crop / Export Pics Without Permanent Changes To Original
I'm still learning my way around Aperture, and I have a task in front of me that I'm not sure how best to accomplish. I need to export a bunch of photos to use in a Kodak LCD frame. The problem is that the aspect ratio of the frame is 16:9... not the same as my photos! If I do a simple export, I get a photo that either has blank space on either side in the frame or that cuts off the top and bottom (not necessarily in the way I would like).

So, I need to do the following, all without any permanent changes to my Aperture library:

- Apply a custom crop to 16:9 to each image

- Export only the cropped images

- Have the option to easily delete the cropped images from Aperture if I decide I don't need them anymore

I'm not sure how to do all this, though. If I crop an image, there's no real indication that the cropped version isn't the original, so I'm afraid I'll loose track of which ones I've cropped and which ones I haven't. If I create a new version of each image and crop that, then they're all mixed in with the other images, so selecting them for export will be a pain. There must be a way to do this, though, so what am I missing?

On my new/used macbook it does not show the numbers with the crop selection tool and I used this setting a lot because I write for an online publication that requires certain sizes on the pics.
