IMovie 11 :: Way To Recover Missing Events And Projects?

I opened iMovie earlier this evening and noticed my projects and events were nowhere to be found. I tried to import movies, and it would not let me, let alone bring up the dialog box. I looked at my iPhoto events in the side panel, and noticed that my movies in iPhoto were not showing up. I thought it might be a problem with an update, so I updated the software, but nothing changed, even after restarting. I opened the iMovie folders and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary

Mac :: Move IMovie Events & Projects To A New System
I just got a new Mac and want to move my iMovie events and projects from the old machine to the new one. I seem to recall reading an article on Macworld a while back saying that you shouldn't just go through the finder to copy the files from one disk to another. What is the proper way to move the files from one machine to another - there are roughly 200GB worth of files.

IMovie 11 :: Missing IPhoto Movies From Old Projects
So as we all know, if you move where your movies reside, iMovie can not relink to them (can't find them). I just noticed that since the new iPhoto reorganized where it keeps its media within the iPhoto package, that Pre-iLife '11 iMovie projects say any movies that came from iPhoto can not be found - even though iMovie can see the Events in the Event Library just fine.

IMovie 11 :: Missing Audio In Events Library - NO Skimming - Sound
The subject line tells it all. When I 'upgraded' to iLife 11, the audio function in playback from the Events Library has ceased. When I move a clip to the Project section, the audio is there. I can "see" the audio when I select to see the waveform of the Event clip. But nothing makes the sound come on. I have reinstalled, etc. Nada. Am I stupid, or is this another glitch in the skin of this otherwise pretty shiny fruit?

Aperture :: Events To Projects Importation - Two Libraries
I am going to transfer all my photographs that are in iPhoto to Aperture as two Libraries is not what I want. I will do it slowly a bit at a time rather than importing all at once so that I can totally reorganize all my earlier images into a more logical management regime. Doing that I wish to eliminate an iPhoto annoyance. iPhoto creates events automatically and consequently sometimes it results in projects being split into several events due to time passing for lunch etc. Sometimes it also combines different projects into one event because no time has passed.

I have never known how to consolidate events (or divide them) in iPhoto and that doesn't matter now. How should I avoid importing iPhoto's Event structure as Projects and end up with multiple Events consolidated into single Projects? Does it matter if considerable time (maybe even different days) are involved in various photographs in an Aperture Project? Also is it a simple matter to divide an Event so that the contents go to different Projects?

Aperture :: IPhoto Events Analogous To Projects?
Are iPhoto Events analogous to Aperture Projects? I am considering purchasing Aperture 3 with the goal of leaving iPhoto behind. I really like the way events are managed and displayed in iPhoto. Should I be safe in considering Aperture's Projects like iPhoto events. Can projects be sorted and viewed by day, in grid fashion a la iPhoto?

Aperture :: Sync Projects And IPhoto Events To IPhone?
Not sure if this more an iTunes question or an Aperture/iPhoto one... I chose to put it here in the Aperture forum as I thought more people here would be familiar with the problem I'm trying to solve...

I currently use BOTH iPhoto & Aperture. iPhoto handles the initial import of all photos from my iPhone and my point-and-shoot Canon. Aperture gets all the photos from my DSLR and any "nuggets" from iPhoto that need more processing.

iTunes can sync your iPhoto OR Aperture library but can't seem to figure out how to sync BOTH. How are people handling this? I really only want to sync a couple smart folders from each app.

Aperture :: Delete Projects / Images To Recover Hard Disc Space?
I'm using Aperture 2.1.4 to view, edit & archive my image files. Backups are made to external hard drives. But as space fills up on my Mac Pro, I'd like to delete Aperture projects & images to recover disc space. Is it possible to do this without affecting the images on the external "vaults"? In other words, I'd like to keep some kind of referenced images on the Mac Pro so that I still have a record of those projects, but do not want to delete those files from the external drives, which would happen when I update a vault. Any suggestions?

IMovie 11 :: Projects Have To Be 30fps?
I have a Panasonic TM700 which shoots 1080p60. I used an automator script to rewrap the .mts file as an m4v file and then dropped it into an iMovie Event in the Finder. I then right-clicked on it in iMovie and converted it to the Apple Intermediate Codec for editing. However, when I went to create a project, I noticed that the only option is for 30fps, not 60. Also, when I created a project, it would not let me add the 60fps clip. Yet I seem to remember reading that iMovie 11 supports 1080p at 60fps.

I just spent 6 hours creating (and finishing) two projects in iMovie '11.
But I never quit the application in the process, and it looks to me as if project data is only really saved upon a Quit.I finished the first project and published it to my MobileMe gallery. Then I finished the second project, and tried to export it to my HD as 720p movie. The export failed, but the app stayed up, although it returned an error message about a 'heap error'.. Unfotunately, I didn't get the exact message. It didn't say heap overflow, but that was the essence of the message.

IMovie 11 :: Clips Missing Audio After Exported From IMovie?
While in iMovie, there was no problem with the video and audio but after exporting, 3 clips out of the whole project were missing the audio. After trying numerous things like deleting the clip from the timeline and putting it back in, undoing the audio skimming, exporting using quicktime, movie and DVD, nothing worked. We even took out the clips missing the audio and created a new project and those exported perfectly with both audio and video. What worked in the end was going into "clip" and detaching the audio. Doesn't make sense but it worked and I was able to export and create a DVD with the audio.

IDVD (iLife 09/11) :: IMovie Projects - Need To Prepare For Sharing
I would like to make a dvd of a recent holiday. I tried to do this idvd using the create project button and it seems straight forward enough. The trouble I have is that my imovie projects are listed there but it says that I need to prepare them for sharing. I did this and this seems to work in as much as it takes about 5 minutes on imovie to prepare it and then it opens an idvd window and plays the movie ok. The problem is that I would like to have one idvd project with several "buttons" each button linking to one imovie project.

What imovie wants me to do is have an idvd project for each imovie project. I thought as I had shared the movie I would then be able to go back to the media list and add it to my original idvd project but lo and behold it still says that it needs to be prepared to be shared! Not sure what to do. I have my clips on external drive and wonder if this has anything to do with it. I have shared imovie projects from the external drive and I have also moved the imovie project (but not the original clips) onto my hard drive but it doesn't work. I am using a new white macbook with up to date software.

IDVD (iLife 09/11) :: Chapters For Multiple IMovie Projects
I sent three iMovie '11 projects with chapter markers to Media Browser. I dragged each of the movies from the Media Browser into a single iDVD project. Dragging the first movie resulted in the creation of one button named "play movie" and one button named "scene selections". But dragging in the second and third movies resulted in only a "play movie" button for each movie--no "scene selections". Does iDVD not allow multiple movies to have sub-menus? Am I required to combine the three projects while still in iMovie (such that there is in effect only two levels possible, not three)? From the description of how to create a project in iDVD, I was under the impression that I could have three main buttons (Sydney, Matakohe, and Brisbane), and have each sporting chapters. It would change the organization substantially to have reduce the structure to only two levels. And I've seen nothing that says this cannot be done.

Mac :: IMovie Crashed, Can't Access My Projects?
I used iMovie 11 to create an hour long collection of home movies, with transitions, audio tracks, some sped up sections, etc. I tried to export it to iDVD yesterday, but the audio went out of sync with the video clips. So, I detached the audio from the clips, but just before completing this task, iMovie started crashing as soon as I would try to open my project. My project was saved on an external hard drive, so I tried opening it on another iMac with iMovie 11. It worked at first, enabling me to finish detaching the audio, but because all my music tracks were saved in iTunes on my first computer, I needed to bring in all the music to iTunes on the second computer so that iMovie could access the tracks. Since bringing the music tracks into iTunes, i haven't been able to open my iMovie project at all. iMovie crashes as soon as I launch the application - it won't even show my project, it just crashes straight away.
