IMovie 11 :: Fixing Loss Of Quality From IMovie Project To Burned DVD?
I have read some strings regarding this subject but I'm still left with questions.
I have created a photo collage set to music, in iMovie. It's 12 minutes long, and when I play it in iMovie on my computer, it looks great. All the photos are crystal clear, rich with color, and vibrant in all the right places.

IDVD (iLife 09/11) :: Avoiding Loss Of Quality From IMovie To DVD?
can anyone tell me how to avoid losing quality when burning a DVD. The final result is so diferent from the original film created in iMovie that it's very disappointed, after all the work. So far I have tried both Best Performance and High Quality Encoding, with a burning speed as low as X4 but the result is still poor compared to the crispness and brightness of the original. IDVD (iLife 09/11) :: Fixing Major DVD Quality Loss...
I obtained 1080p HD stock footage through online libraries (I purchased the appropriate licenses) and edited the footage in Final Cut. I then exported the project as an Animation to preserve the highest possible quality and am now trying to burn it to a dvd. When I play the video on my computer it is perfect HD quality. Every dvd I've burned has come out horrible. I have visual artifacts everywhere and even some interlacing. I've tried Toast and iDVD and its all the same. On iDVD I used the "Best Performance" settings to get the smallest amount of compression and it still comes out 'jarbled'. IDVD (iLife 09/11) :: Project Quality Dropped When Burned To DVD
I've been trying to burn a DVD using iDVD. I created a several videos in iMovie HD at 720p Quality. All of them look great in iMovie and are excellent quality when exported to .mov files, but when I place these iMovie projects (or the .mov files) into iDVD and burn them, the quality is dropped substantially. The size of the imported video is 2005 pixels by 1504 pixels in H.264 codec before it is imported into iMovie, and the quality from source file to iMovie is essentially the same. I've changed the quality to professional in iDVD and this has done nothing to the quality.

IDVD (iLife 09/11) :: Audio From IMovie Not Playing On Burned DVD
I'm making a slideshow through iMovie. Through previews it all looks and sounds as I'd like. I "shared" it to iDVD and set up the project through that. For the most part it looks and sounds as I'd expect. However, the first perhaps eight seconds of the first background song does not play. It just picks up about that far into the song and slideshow. A sound effect before that plays. The rest of that song and every other bit of audio plays fine. Information: iMac Mac OS X (10.5.6)

IDVD (iLife 09/11) :: Poor Quality When Create DVD From IMovie
I am using iMovie to create movies. My movies are mostly digital pictures with audio files and some narrations (travel reports). When I watch these movies on my Mac or connect Mac to the HD TV the quality is perfect. Then I want to share movies with friends and use "Share iDVD" to burn DVD. The quality on DVD is very poor. I tried different settings. I also tried export to different movie's formats and then burn DVD with the same result. Information: MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Applications :: IMovie 5 HD Project In IMovie 8?
I have a project file that was created using iMovie 5 HD. In this project file were a large number of unused clips and also the final film, edited with transitions, backing music, end credits, etc. However when I import this project file into iMovie 8 I cannot find the final edited film anywhere, just all the clips that were both used and unused within the project file. How can I get the final film back without spending about a week re-editing everything?

Applications :: Won't Import Imovie Project Files Into Imovie / Not Recognizing Files
So, I have all of my imovie projects backed up on my external harddrive, as well as the imovie program. I accidentally deleted all of the imovie projects and events from the imovie application on my laptop. When I try to re-import the imovie files into imovie, it doesn't recognize the files. I have tried to convert them with iSkySoft Video Converter. That converter program does not recognize the files either. I also tried burning the files onto a disc and then pulling them off the disc with the Handbrake program. This doesn't work either. I also tried importing the files into iMovie HD, which I have on my desktop, but to no avail. Are these files alll useless now? I'm at my wits end because I have spent literally months compiling footage for a documentary.

Applications :: Won't Work With Imovie Photo Quality / Quality Better In Iphoto
Started archiving all my old photos and creating dvds. started off using iphoto which is great for compiling a quick slideshow to a couple of music tracks. i then imported these to idvd and created my first dvd project which i was pretty pleased with for a first attempt. The only thing i found annoying was that i could not link all the slideshows together in idvd so that they played one after another, instead you had to come back to the menu and start the next one...so i thought i would import these slideshow movies into imovie and create a complete movie with chapters, titles etc. but when i did this i noticed that the quality of the slideshow in imovie was very noticeably worse. being new to mac i wasnt sure what was up so i thought about importing the photos directly into imovie and working with them there. but once again the quality was really poor compared to the iphoto and idvd slideshows. after this i though maybe its just a preview problem and all will be well when i burn them to dvd and watch them on tv...so i burnt a dvd with one slideshow created in iphoto and imported into idvd and also put on a movie of the same slide show that id imported into imovie and back. anyway long story short quality still better in slide show created in iphoto.

Applications :: Titles In IMovie 09 / Fixing At The Bottom?
I have just started playing around with iMovie 09 and think it's pretty good. I was wondering if anyone knew how to manipulate the different title options. I know how to change the font, size & color but is there a way to move the titles to different parts of the screen? For instance, I want to use the "lense flare effect on a title but I want the title at the bottom of the screen, is this possible?

Applications :: Project File Is Missing From IMovie HD / Unable To Open Project
Alright so I was making this video that was really really really difficult to do and I got to like 3:00 of it today and I've been saving, then it just freezes and refuses to do anything. I then realise my external drive somehow turned off for a random reason, so I plugged it back in and it started working again, but then I reopened my project and I get this error http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/2497/picture3fgd.png I click on ignore all and it's all in the trash, and what really pisses me off about this is that it took me weeks and weeks and weeks of time to do, there's no way I can redo this all over again. What can I do to get rid of the skipped message and make it all work again

IDVD (iLife 09/11) :: Trying To Burn An IMovie Project To DVD Through IDVD?
When trying to burn an iMovie project to DVD through IDVD I get this error message about 5 minutes in to the process every time:Error during rendering/encoding There was an error during rendering/encoding of the menu/slideshows. The burning process has been cancelled. I am a novice user & trying to make a DVD for all of my family back in the UK to send for Xmas - so URGENT now!!!Can anyone advise what I'm doing wrong?I have checked the disk tree and there aren't any errors showing up there as red crosses or black/yellow warning tape signs. The DVD set up is very basic - no menus or extras - just an iMovie project that I exported from iMovie OK. I have been able to do a version for iTunes so I just don't get why this won't work and the error message is super unhelpful. Information: MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.6.2)

IDVD (iLife 09/11) :: Quality Loss When Burning DVD?
I have a short movie which I have exported from FCE 4 as a .mov (using export as QT movie). I have dragged this into a iDVD project, the preview looks good, but the finished DVD has terrible quality - lots of "shimmering"/"rippling" - not very easy on the eye. The project was filmed in HD (AVCHD) and has been edited as such in FCE. Am I right in thinking I need to export to a smaller frame size (1024x576) for DVD? Information: MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Final Cut Pro :: Converting HD To SD To DVD Loss Of Quality - Any Fixes
I shot HD footage (1080i). The raw footage is beautiful, crisp, clear. I brought it into FCP, edited it with the addition of some Motion files in the title sequences and for talking head ID bars. When exporting it from FCP as a straight-up Quicktime movie, the quality is still acceptable, though not as knock-out lovely as the raw footage. I have to make SD DVDs with it, and I have been doing the following to accomplish this: 1. Make new sequence in FCP with settings at: sequence preset>DV50 NTSC 48 kHz Anamorphic, field dominance: Upper(Odd), video processing>Motion Filtering Quality: Fastest(linear). 2. Put the HD sequence into that, and export it as a self-contained .mov file. Information: Mac Pro Mac OS X (10.6.1) 2x3 GHz Dual Core Intel Xeon, running FCP6.0.6, DVDSP4.2.1

IMovie 11 :: Poor Quality Video On IDVD?
I've made many DVDs after editing in IMovie but often get problems. The latest is the most annoying as I've transferred 6 movies, 2 slideshows and 2 trailers but the largest of these (a movie) doesn't play correctly. The dodgy one is 20 minutes long and plays well for the first ten minutes, before the picture starts to distort/"wobble" (just in the middle - ok at foot, top and sides) to such an extent that it's frustrating to watch. The offending movie was exported direct from imovie using the share/idvd function. The other movies and all stills are ok. Information: imac 2.16 intel core 2 duo Mac OS X (10.5.7) 2.5 gb memory
