IMovie 11 :: Low Video Quality When Exporting To HD

I have a movie recorded in HD720p by iPhone 4. I imported it into iMovie 11 (edited, etc.), and after I export in HD. Unfortunately, movie quality is very bad.

Screenshot from iMovie - quality is fine: [URL]
Here are exported using QuickTime - 720p, mp4 - really ugly effect [URL]
And the last attempt to export using the "share" -> Export Movie -> 960x540, m4v (HD is unavailable - I don't know why...)[URL]

How do I export the movie in original resolution and without loss of quality?

IChat AV 3 :: Low Quality Of Video Conferencing - How To Improve
Today we tried to video chat using 3 laptops in the same room over bonjour. (Latest OS, latest updates) With two people the quality is very nice but when a third person steps in the quality drops drastically. It can't simply be a bandwidth thing because we should have a ton of it since we don't take a round trip over the internet. As soon as one party steps out the quality goes up.

Can anything be done to get higher quality on video conferencing with more than two people?

Applications :: Low Quality Video Coming Out Of IDVD?
I've got a movie I'm exporting from FCE, just in the standard "Export to QuickTime Movie" option. The file looks fine (other than the fact that, when I watch it in QT, the aspect ratio is wrong). When I put it into iDVD and let it burn, the video just looks... weird. I'm not sure how to describe it, exactly, but it's just weird. I can't figure out what's wrong. Is it possible it's something in iDVDs conversion to MPEG-2?

MacBook Pro :: Audio Quality Low On Video Playback
My brother and I both have the lower end MacBook Pro 13' Unibody laptops. His is a late 2009 version mine is a mid 2010 version. I have noticed that the audio on my brothers laptop is much more crisp then mine, when playing video files with VLC or music files with iTunes. I can specifically play songs side by side, and can tell that mine sounds like the audio quality is lower, also at high notes I can hear a vibration that sounds kind of tinny coming from the speakers.

The only way for my audio to sound normal is if I plug in headphones, if I use headphones the music in iTunes sounds normal, ditto with the video files. Today I have taken in my laptop to a Apple store and a worker told me that he did believe that it was a problem with the speakers so he ordered both left and right with sub woofers to replace mine with. I haven't installed any new sound software or changed any sound settings so I do not understand why my laptop sounds worse then my brothers when we basically have the same kind.

Final Cut Pro :: Exporting Video In High Quality?
I need to play something on a dvd player and for some reason my exporting makes the video not look too good. when people wave to the camera you see lines, etc. I am working in FCP.

Frame size 720 X 480 NTSC DV (3:2)
Pixel Aspect Ratio NTSC - CCIR 601,
Filed Lower (even)
Compressor DV/ DVCPRO -NTSC.

Looks good in FCP but when I export it, I am losing quality. I really don't know much about exporting (obviously).

Final Cut Pro :: Exporting Highest Quality HD 1080p Video For Web
I'm trying to upload a 28 minute HD 1080p video to ExposureRoom. I'm exporting using Final Cut Pro using footage from a Kodak Zi8 camera. Now according to ExposureRoom a typical web browser will only upload files less than 2GB, and so they've recommended exporting a HD 720p video which is smaller than 2GB. So far having used various export options including H.264 the file size I'm getting is larger than 2GB with HD 1080p. Does anyone know of a way around this or appropriate export settings to be able to upload a HD 1080p 28 minute video?

IMovie 11 :: Poor Quality Video On IDVD?
I've made many DVDs after editing in IMovie but often get problems. The latest is the most annoying as I've transferred 6 movies, 2 slideshows and 2 trailers but the largest of these (a movie) doesn't play correctly.
The dodgy one is 20 minutes long and plays well for the first ten minutes, before the picture starts to distort/"wobble" (just in the middle - ok at foot, top and sides) to such an extent that it's frustrating to watch.

The offending movie was exported direct from imovie using the share/idvd function.
The other movies and all stills are ok.

My ultimate intention is to burn to standard DVD. I want to export from Imovie to IDVD after edits are mae. What export settings are optimal for sending to IDVD? Again my goal is to have something on DVD that retains the maxium quality from the original HD camera. I know that DVD is not HD, but I do know that HD to DVD should still be able to produce crisp output. Can anyone paste in some settings to what works for them?

Final Cut Pro :: Quality Control While Importing Video From IMovie
I am a bit skeptical of the quality in which FCP imports video from iMovie. I imported my content from some previous videos of mine that I had as projects on iMovie, basically for the reason that I can capture the video in one take on iMovie and because it separates the scenes precisely. However, when I import it into FCP, would the quality remain the same?

I have imported the video from this camcorder into iMovie and done the assembly. I then put it through iDVD to burn a DVD. Many hours later I get my 1 hour long DVD and put it into my DVD player and play it and see a significantly degraded poor picture (youtube quality). Applications :: Won't Work With Video Quality / Importing QT Into IMovie
I have got a .mov file (1GB) that looks fabulous when I watch it in the Quicktime player. But when I drag it into iMovie, the quality is terrible.

At first I figured this was just because iMovie displays lower quality for editing and that the original quality would be preserved when I bring it back into Quicktime. But the quality is just as bad after compression.

No matter what I do, the final Quicktime video is atrocious. When I compress it from iMovie, Im choosing the highest quality setting to bring it into .dv format. In .dv format, the file is still very heavy, but it looks terrible. If iMovie preserved the quality (whether we see it or not), shouldnt it be visible in .dv?

I also tried exporting the .dv into mpg-4 and plenty other formats (thinking .dv may still be hiding the true quality) but that doesnt work either. Im still on an iBook G4 (PowerPC) running Mac OS X v10.4.11 and QuickTime Pro v7.4.5.

Applications :: Won't Work With Imovie Photo Quality / Quality Better In Iphoto
Started archiving all my old photos and creating dvds. started off using iphoto which is great for compiling a quick slideshow to a couple of music tracks. i then imported these to idvd and created my first dvd project which i was pretty pleased with for a first attempt. The only thing i found annoying was that i could not link all the slideshows together in idvd so that they played one after another, instead you had to come back to the menu and start the next one...so i thought i would import these slideshow movies into imovie and create a complete movie with chapters, titles etc. but when i did this i noticed that the quality of the slideshow in imovie was very noticeably worse.

being new to mac i wasnt sure what was up so i thought about importing the photos directly into imovie and working with them there. but once again the quality was really poor compared to the iphoto and idvd slideshows. after this i though maybe its just a preview problem and all will be well when i burn them to dvd and watch them on tv...so i burnt a dvd with one slideshow created in iphoto and imported into idvd and also put on a movie of the same slide show that id imported into imovie and back.

anyway long story short quality still better in slide show created in iphoto.

OS X Leopard :: Image Quality In Preview Is Extremely Low
I just recently switched to Mac from PC. Since using this Mac, I have had some issues with image quality. At first I thought it was just Photoshop, but I realized that the standard OS preview is also having display issues.Basically, if I open an image in preview or in Photoshop to edit, the quality is low, but when I go to "save for web" and view it in the preview box, it looks perfectly normal. Website images look normal, and everything else that is vector looks normal. It's only pictures that are having this issue.

I have no idea what would cause preview images and photoshop files to look like this. Here is a link to a picture of the problem. The left side is what the image looks like in Photoshop (and Preview) and the right side is the "save for web" box showing it looks normal.

Aperture :: Slideshow - Low Photo Quality And Resolution
In AP3 and slideshow mode I have tried to make some slideshows, but the images are of low quality and resolution. I guess this is due to my previews setting of 1680 x 1680 with a quality level of 6. By increasing the preview settings to 2560 x 2560 and quality 9, the images in the slideshow seems ok. But the increase in quality increases the size of the library file. One can choose to only apply the increased quality settings only to the images in the slideshow and then go back to the preference and change to the default setting of lower quality, but I find this rather cumbersome. Any solutions to a faster workflow?

After a while I realized the graphics was more blocky on 1.6 than the 1.8. No matter what I checked and stopped I could not change it. No other program was running, I let ot rest etc but still it had more choippy graphics.

And yes, I made sure it was rev B not rev A...

Btw, they both had 'the lines'.

If graphics is determined by the graphic card and they both have the same how come the video was not the same quality? Is it really the .26 GHz that made the difference???

Final Cut Pro :: Low Quality AIC And HQ Videos
I'm a long time PC user who has recently switched to Mac's and I'm rather picky about the quality of my videos. I have HD video from a Canon HF S10 camcorder and Canon EOS 7D that looks fantastic on a PC, but looks very so-so once imported into a iMovie or FCE or FCP. I've tried all three programs using AIC and yes I've even tried Apple Pro Res HQ (FCP 7.0 log & transfer) and still end up with very poor quality mov files when compared to the originals. Part of the problem (or benefit of a PC) is that the PC actually plays the original RAW MTS/M2TS/MOV files without any trouble and and they look unbelievable. Where as my Mac has to import/convert the file to AIC or Apple Pro Res HQ.

So no matter what codec I use, my Mac produces video that is not even close to what I get out of my PC. My original RAW files are all 1920x1080 60i and are MTS files from the HF S10 and Mov files from the 7D. Even the original RAW Mov files produced from the 7D don't look as good on my Mac as they do on my PC. I even took a SD card with the original files down to the local Apple store to see how they look on a Macbook Pro and they still don't look like the originals on my PC. Also, all my comparisons are being done side by side on two 24" Apple cinema displays at full size (1920x1080) that are calibrated. What am I doing wrong and why the loss in quality? Why the quality is just so-so when compared to the originals?
