How do you add subtitles/text to a video? Is it even possible? I'm working on a video with interviews and I want to write what they are saying underneath.

I've started on a semi-heavy iMovie project. I want to give the same video-setting to several clips, but I can't find out how. Since there is a dedicated "copy/paste"-button in iPhoto, I would find it quite natural, that you are able to do so with iMovie's video-settings on different video-clips. Applications :: How To Add Subtitles To Downloaded Movie
I downloaded a movie (had to because I can't get it where I live, Waltz with Bashir) I knew it was in a different language but I didn't expect there to be no subtitles, so I found a site that had them but now I don't know how to add them, they are in the same folder as the movie, but if I go to Quicktime it says there are no subtitles.

Final Cut / DVD Studio :: Add Subtitles On And Off Option?
Like a commercial DVD, I want to add the option to turn subtitles on and off but have been struggling with this. I developed a "subtitles" page and for each button, I see the options in the "streams" pull down menus but don't understand how to make them work the way I want. I want the user to be able to jump from main menu, select the "subtitle" screen, select subtitles "on or off" (buttons) and resume. Information: iMac Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Final Cut Pro :: How To Convert Subtitles To Outline Text
I have around 180 subtitle clips on my timeline in a non-outlined font (I did use the 'Text' option in the Viewer window) and would like the font of all of them to have an outline (i.e. like the one you have when choosing 'Text Outline' ). Copy --> Paste Attributes doesn't seem to work on this one. Is there a way to change all my subtitle clips in one go or do I have to redo them one by one? Final Cut Pro :: Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) And Low Res Text Subtitles
We are close to finishing our project and have reels at Apple ProRes 422 HQ to get the best quality. We are also using subtitles generated within Final Cut Pro. Either the standard or the Boris 3D. My question is this: why is a text subtitle very sharp and clear when it is unrendered? But when I render, it becomes lower quality? (i.e slight shift to aliasing occuring) Now the final rendered text quality is ok. But there is a definite shift to a lower quality when rendered. This doesn't make sense. I would like the rendered clean look to remain. Has anyone come across this before? Are there any settings that need to be adjusted? I had a go with adding the Filter 'Shift fields'. I also had a go with moving the text up and down 1 pixel. just doesn't make sense that the text subtitle should look worse? Information: MacPro Mac OS X (10.4.11) 4Gb Ram 750Gb HD

OS X :: How To Select Text Layer And Modify Text And Add Watermark
I have designed a corporate letter head for a friend and it is still in jpeg format after using photoshop. Now I want to import it into a pages document so that I can give it to him in PC format so he can type over the watermark and put his letters onto his letterhead... now I can do that quite easily on my PC but not so on my Mac... I can add the watermark image into the Pages document but for some reason I can't work out how to modify the text from then... i can see how you move the text formatting but if i wanted to add a word into a paragraph etc i can't select the text. It's as if the watermark layer is the only layer I can select and the text is not longer selectable.... can anybody help me out with this please? I just need to be able to select the text layer and modify the text..

Final Cut Pro :: Uneven Video Fades - White Haze When Subtitles Appear
In my Master Sequence, I have just two video tracks: one for subtitles, created using FCP's built-in Text Generator; and another track with just a few clips, each clip representing another Sequence, or "sub-Sequence", if you will. (Each sub-Sequence is a separate scene.) My footage was shot on DV in progressive mode. My rendering and exporting is to uncompressed 8-bit 4:2:2. When I watch in the Canvas and on my attached broadcast monitor during playback from FCP over Firewire, and when I watch in QuickTime Player when viewing the QuickTime file generated in exporting my Sequence, and when I watch on a TV while playing back from a DVD made using that QT file, two things are very noticeable in a certain shot, which consists of a close-up of red, drawn stage curtains: 1) The fade-in from black right at the beginning and the partial fade-out later on occurs in steps, instead of smoothly, i.e. the brightness level abruptly changes a little bit, then abruptly changes again a little bit more, then again, and again, etc. -- but abruptly, not smoothly. 2) When white subtitles (at 90% opacity) appear, a sort of white haze is superimposed on the entire frame, and especially in the upper portion(!). I should add that I get the same result whether or not I have a chroma re-sampling filter (which converts the color space to 4:2:2) applied to the clips of the sub-Sequences. (I have not applied such a filter to the text clips, since doing so severely distorts the text, e.g., the dots above the "i's" disappear.) Information: Mac Pro Mac OS X (10.4.11)

IMovie 11 :: Finding Import HD Video Into IMovie 11
Previously I was using a CANOPUS ADVC-110 to import video to iMovie 11 using a Firewire port. I recently purchased the eyetv HD in the hopes of being able to import HD video into iMovie 11. IMovie 11 :: Why Are My Titles Over Video Making The Video Go Black
I'm importing footage using a card reader, kingston, and I don't know if that is whats doing it but when I place titles over video footage or a still it forces the video to go black. I'm using iMovie 11, I thrown away the program and reinstalled but its still doing it. Also all the pre-existing backgrounds and maps show up as black. Applications :: Can't Add A Title In IMovie HD?
I have all my clips together and wanted to overlay a title on a still photo that I took from the video. When I go to drag the title down to the video, the green + shows up, and I let go. The title then just flies back up to the title menu and doesn't get added to the movie. What's wrong??

IMovie 11 :: Unable To Save Text/captions
I created a movie with an opening title and trailing credits. I changed the stock font for the opening title. iMovie is not saving these changes. If I exit my iMovie and open my movie again, the opening title defaults back to the original font. The trailing credits, looses all the text completly and just says some like "text goes here" (I'm not in front if it now, so I forgot the exact text). Information: iMac 27" Mac OS X (10.6.5)

it is possible to change the speed of the scrolling text when you select "Far Far Away" title slide. I am able to change the length that the slide takes to progress to the next using clip adjustments but cannot seem to find an option to change the speed of the scrolling text. I'm trying to make one of those Youtube song lyrics videos but I can't seem to get the text to stay still. I searched on Google and everyone says to use "centered title" but it keeps fading and i can't get the lines to appear simultaneously, each set of two lines fades out as the next one fades in.Is there a way to insert about 5-6 lines at the same time per slide without the text fading?

I shot a video and wish to keep the original soundtrack while adding a couple of clips in the middle. I know I'll need to clip out some of the original video so that I retain the original length of the video to match the length of audio, but how do I do that? I've read about splitting video but not audio. Can I copy the original audio track and add it as an additional track and then edit the video portion? I want to add the current date to a log text file. I don't want to use the New TextEdit Document or New Text File, since the file already exists, so how do I open it? IChat AV 3 :: Can Video Chat, Cannot See Incoming Text Chats/outgoing Text Chats
I have a MacBook and I use iChat a lot. I can click on a friend's video icon and iChat and they can request to iChat to me and I can accept. The problem is, when I double click to send a message using the keyboard, I can type my message and when I hit "enter", my text screen still says that I am typing (indicated by the "..." in the thought cloud). When I ask my friends if they get my messages they say yes but it does not show me that I have actually sent a message. As well, I don't recieve incoming messages. If a friend IM's me, I have no clue because a chat window does not open. If I initiate the chat and send messages (although I cannot see what I have sent because it says "...") I do not receive a message back or even any indication that the other person has received my chat. I do not see if they are "..." so basically it is like I am talking to a wall. I am not aware of fancy technological "lingo" and I have deleted my screen name from the preferences and added it again to the iChat. Information: MacBook Mac OS X (10.5.8)
