I hope this hasn't been covered elsewhere (I can't find it if it has).My problem is that the history setting although set to " Remove history items after one day " does not. I Have reset Safari 4.0.3 and it still doesn't delete the history. Applecare can't seem to solve the problem either. Please help, although this isn't a major problem it is very annoying. This was happening before SL and I was hoping SL upgrade may have fixed this but it hasn't.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHow do you delete specific search items in your (browser) form history? I don't mean a blanket "clear all", I just want to delete my typos. In Windows, you just need to scroll down to it and hit "delete". Doing that on Mac only erases a character from your search.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI work in a very small school so we do not have an IT department that is top notch. Anyways, We had a student google something and went to the images part of the search. Well he got porn and he printed some stuff out. He then cleared the history. Is there any way we can recover that history? We have one actual image that he printed, but we can't prove that it came from the computer that he was working on at the time. What we were told was from another student and we can not just go on that for disciplinary reasons.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just discovered that I had deleted a bunch of "To Do" items by accident. I cannot find where they go. I cannot believe that there is no "Trash" type place for them and they are gone forever.
If that his how the "To Do" list works, I will have to find a replacement. Hard to believe that a single keystroke is so irreversible. I found myself somehow on the wrong row and deleted several items this way. Cannot find them anywhere.
I just deleted the "Startup Items" folder by accident, it's found in the "Library" folder. How do I fix this??

Today, I thought I would clear out some memory on my Mac Book Air. I had items in folders and dragged a number of items to Drop Box thinking this would free up space. I must have done something wrong as they items were not in the folders on Drop Box. When I returned to the documents left on my internal hard drive, the folders were intact but the documents in the folders were gone. The documents included keynote presentations, pages docs, numbers docs, and pdf docs.

I just upgraded to 10.6 - and was horrified to find out when opening iTunes again, my playlists, podcasts, purchased items, etc weren't there. It's a total iTunes reboot! All my audio content is stored on an external HDD (yes, its plugged in) - though the iTunes Libraries are on my laptop.Â
how to recover these without having to go through the hassle of Time Machine?Â

I am using OSX Mail and a me.com address, via O2 broadband in the UK. About once a day, Mail, apparenty randomly, reloads dozens of recently read and deleted messages. So, just now for example, I appear to have 68 new messages, and it's all stuff I've dealt with already, some of it is in the InBox and some is filed in other Mailboxes - doesn't seem to make any difference. So now I'm getting duplicates and probably throwing out items I meant to keep.Â
This is just happening on my desktop iMac and is not replicated on my iPhone or Macbook Air. It feels as if the sync between the iMac and iCloud is somehow corrupting, if that's possible.Â
This has been going on for a few weeks and so isn't getting better on its own (as I have read in other postings). It also doesn't seem to be linked to any other event. The iMac is on all the time, either in use or asleep, and maybe gets restarted once a week.Â
I am wary of deleting things from the Library in case I either lose ALL my mail or it decides to replicate every message in the archive.Â

My mackbook air keeps telling me that my start up disk is full. I delete items daily but keep receiving the same message. I have found that the problem may be that items are being saved in multiple areas on my computer. I don't know why this is happening and so I don't really know which copies to delete and which to save. It this point I cant even get software updates or compress files since there is not enough space available at this time.

In mac we have option to delete items securely from trash, while deleting it warns that: once deleted items will not be recovered. I want to know that is there any way by which items deleted "normally, (not securely)" from "Trash" can be recovered?

Woke up thinking I had slept longer than I thought with the sun already rising, until I realized it wasn't sunlight but the light from my awakened imac. I had put it to sleep hours before when I turned in. This one was purchased new last December. Is there any way of viewing what was going on in my computer that would have awakened it from sleep mode? Any way of seeing a history of attempts to use my wifi network?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a iMac (bought new in 2009) running Leopard. I live in a home with two roommates and I think one of them has been viewing inappropriate material on my desktop while I'm at work. Is there any way for me to view the history other than through Safari. i.e., IP adress history?? Also, how can I clean my computer/hard drive thoroughly as to prevent incrimination? I have since changed my password to prevent access from anyone other than myself, but I do not want anything I'm not aware of on my hard drive!

I have given up gaming and want to focus on large photoshop art pieces (raster, poster size printable). I want smooth, lag-free performance and I tend to lean away from all-in-ones like the iMac so was going to get a 6 core Mac Pro. That said, I likely do not need the expandability of the Mac Pro but I am willing to pay a bit of a premium to ensure the best long term experience. I'm just not sure there is a solid benefit for the extra cost of the Pro. I'm also somewhat clueless about and dubious of the idea of laptop processors in the iMac. I've read some of the posts about iMac vs MacPro before but now with the upgrades to the iMac and the MacPro announcements I was hoping some of you could provide some solid advice on which route I should take.

I've tried system prefrences>sound>line in and turning it all the way up and I've tried Utilities>Audio MIDI>Line In and turning that all the way up. I've tried everything I could think of and NOTHING is happening!
