My inbox has suddenly all gone alphabetical, its making it extremely difficult to find my new emails as i have to scroll through all my old emails to find the new ones, how do i get it back so so the emails are in date order and not alphabetical

View 5 Replies View RelatedI use Apple's Mail program and also my school's webmail (outlook.com) in conjuction to check my school email. However, for some strange reason, my inbox on outlook.com will only hold up to 2 weeks of mail. My inbox in Mail will still be intact, yet for the life of me, I can't figure out why my webmail inbox is disappearing. I've checked every possible setting on outlook.com to no avail. I've also checked Mail's settings, but haven't seen anything as far as deleting older mail. BTW, we're allowed 25 gigs on outlook.com so they shouldn't be deleting them automatically.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got really odd behavior in my Mail application running on a MacBook Pro 2.7GHz Intel Core i7 4GB RAM OS X 10.7.3. I have several email accounts. In one of them, "X," some emails don't show up in the account Inbox even though they are present in the overall Inbox marked as "Inbox - X"! Also, when I set up a Smart Mailbox with as criterion that the sender is "Y," the sender of one of these "missing" emails, those emails don't show in the Smart Mailbox. What's going on here? It screws up my email management as I can't be sure my Smart Mailboxes and folders contain all that they're supposed to.

Some of my mail is not showing up in my inbox on my Mac but came through on my phone. Am using imap so it should not have deleted from the server...and I have never have had this problem before.
It seems to be working again now, but there are 5 or so emails that just will not come through to my Mac inbox even though I can see them in the inbox on my phone...important work emails....concerned this may happen again and something will slip through the net.

Upon launching Apple Mail. the InBox will briefly display the messages in the mailbox, then clear the messges and reload from the mail server. Depending on the number of messages in the Inbox, this can take some time.
This only occurs if an internet connection is available. Otherwise, the mail stays put.
I have tried deleting and recreating both the mail server mailbox and the Apple Mail account (not at the same time), without success.

I recently replaced my eMac with a MacBook.I backed up my iTunes library from my eMac to disk and loaded the same into the MacBook.The contens of that disc now appear as a restored playlist.Music that I've since placed onto my MacBook appear in order underneath the restored playlist.The two lists are totally separate and I'm wondering whether there is any way to get the two to integrate so they're alphabetical?

View 8 Replies View Relatedwhen I see the files in one of the folders in the finder, in list view only, they are organized from Z to A and I want to change that to see them from A to Z. I cannot do it. I used to change the list by clicking the ¨name¨, but now that doesn´t work. If I change the view to icons or cover flow, the same files are organized alphabetically. It seems I changed that (I mean from Z to A) once, before I got Lion, and now I cannot reverse the organization of files.

Sometimes with the gray screen and Apple logo, sometime later when the OS has fully installed,but fails quite rapidly after that. Then tries to reboot itself with varying degrees of failure.

My iMac G5 has suddenly stopped recognising CDs. It's fine with DVDs - blank ones, bought ones - loves 'em. But CDs it may load on the fourth or fifth attempt but usually just whirrs, clicks and ejects. This has only started happening in the very recent past, Prior to that, it was fine.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI received my new iMac on May 20. It is a 3.06 with an ATI card. I have not had much time to use it until this evening. I had been been setting up some bookmarks in Safari and then was working on a spreadsheet for about an hour when it suddenly shut down. The power strip in which it was plugged in still had it's light on. The iMac is the only item plugged into the strip. I then felt around the screen, the bottom section was cool but the top was rather warm.
The temperature in the air conditioned house is 71�F. Programs open at the time were Safari - which was on an idle screen as I had logged out of a site. Two sessions of Finder Entourage Excel - which I was actively using. Is this an over temp shutdown? I recall some people posting the temperature of their Macs. Are there any monitors on the iMac to see how hot it is running? There were no warnings that it was going to shut down.
My Aluminium IMac keyboard has suddenly begun to miss keys, the E,P,D,C and both the back and spacebar keys are completely dead. I wasn't using it at the time but each key supposedly went one after each other in under thirty minutes, I've checked mouse keys and speech settings as well as removing keys to clean underneath but they weren't sticky to begin with. Sorry for the lack of detail using the onscreen keyboard takes quite a while to type coherently.

Apple says "All systems go," but I'm skeptical; I think the incoming mail IMAP server is broken. In Mail "Accounts" the incoming mail server is set to "p02-imap.mail.me.com" and the entry is greyed out so I can't change it to the recommended [URL] Outgoing email works normally in Mail.

I have a 4-year old Mac and have noticed lately that it freezes up when I am using Safari. I'll be on a website and all of a sudden, it just freezes. The only way I can fix the problem is to manually turn off the computer and restart it again. Nothing works - unable to use the force quit command or the dock to close Safari. Why this might be happening, or if there's another way to deal with it when it happens besides turning off the computer?

View 24 Replies View RelatedMy IMac crashes sometimes very suddenly, like in a power failure. It doesn't force quit or shut down, it just goes like somebody pulled the plug. It's usually possible to start it up again after 30minutes or an hour. The plug and lead seem to be fine. I tested it on another mac. The obvious suspicion would be overheating, but how can that be caused so suddenly (and how can I fix it)? It's an IMac Intel core duo, 20", 2 ghz, 2gb ram from 2006. I'm running Mac OS X (10.4.11) 2006.

After receiving a 'critical upgrade' the Installer quit suddenly and when I tried to reopen nothing happened. I rebooted and switch off power but when I start in I cannot open anything. I just get the whirligig symbol

So I have had my 27" i7 (July 2010) for about a month. On initial install the RAM showed 12gb (which is correct). I had the stock 4 GB and then added 2 4GB chips from OWC. They displayed correctly.
Now, suddenly am showing 6GB. Bank 0 DIMM 0 empty, Bank 1/DIMM 1 2gb, Bank 0 Dimm 1 Empty, Bank 1 Dimm 1 4gb.
Reseat all and try again? Seems an odd failure. Bank 0 give up the ghost? Just seems really odd both factory and add in ram suddenly failed...
