Im new to MAC.
I am going to buy a 27" Imac Dual Core and a 24" Cinema Screen.
I will also purchase paralels desktop.
My aim is to run MAC os on the 27" screen and Windows 7 on the 24" screen.
Is this possible?
Also, in relation to MAC releases - Is it likely a new Imac due soon and should I hold on with my purchase?
Just got the new iMac quad core i7, purchased Windows 7 Home Premium and having trouble getting it to install using Boot Camp it goes through all the steps I partitioned 350 gig then formatted went thorough the install steps, it reboots and finishes the install, then reboots but nothing happens its just a black screen
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust installed Windows XP using bootcamp and usually no problems switching between operation systems. Recently started using an USB modem for my wireless internet connection. Internet works on both Mac and windows through the modem. Now the problem is whenever I restart or switch on my computer, it shows a black screen if I choose windows partition to boot. No problem if I start through mac partition. If I unplug the USB modem, everything goes fine and I have to plug the modem after starting windows. Is there any solution so that I can permanently plugin the USB modem and avoid booting problem?
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy intel imac 24" running mac osx 10.5 (i think, most recent one) has become stuck at the grey screen after the apple logo on a restart with the spinning gear going. This happened after restarting after using in windows mode, which I have done many times before. I have tried various things like PRam thing and disconnecting power for a while with no luck. I can start up pressing alt and get into windows mode (which I am in just now). I can startup and press c off the CD in which I have run the disk repair thing that says all is well. I tried repair permissions and it came up with some kind of error ending. I have also tried and archive install which only goes to about 5% and then tells me there is an error with installing certain files in the mac hard drive.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy brother got an iMac and yesterday he tried to install windows xp with boot camp. But unfortunately he made a mistake and the iMac shut down. Now the mac is stuck with a windows xp in it, and when he tries to start up the computer, it says "the start-up sound" and just stays with white screen. It sounds like the mac reads from the xp cd when it starts, but I can't get the cd out.I have looked everywhere and tried everything:
Hold down the primary mousebutton while it's starting,
Hold down "fn" and the "eject" button while it's starting,
and hold down "alt" while it's starting
I can't find any "pin-hole" to a paperclip or something.
The windows are larger than the screen. I don't know why this happened.I can get to the top, bottom, or side by placing the mouse there. how to adjust (sys pref display doesn't do it)

iMac 27" i7 with OS X v 10.6.x when I create the bootcamp partition for windows 7 and I install from my original DVD of Windows 7. I format the partition during the install of windows 7 and on the first reboot after windows 7 first part of the install, the screen shows the Windows 7 logo and says continuing installation and then a black screen and then nothing.
I have to hard power off the iMac and then it starts over says the thing about the system didn't shut down properly and gives me the option to start safe mode etc. and does the same thing each time.
I recently updated by 2013 27" iMac to OS X 10.9.3 and since then, I have a weird problem when I switch from one user to another: I often have several user sessions opened for several account, and when I switch from one to the other, or go to the login screen and open an already open session, I find the windows I had left open resized and/or moved. They're often moved to the upper left corner, and resized as if the screen was much smaller than it actually is. It worked without any problem in OS X 10.9.2…

I'm sure this should be simple but I can't figure it out.
I have my iMac connected to my TV and am using Plex to watch stuff on the TV.
What I'd like to do is turn my imac screen off without turning off the second monitor output (i.e. tv) as the imac screen is a bit bright/distracting (even on lowest brightness) when watching in the dark.
This only happens when I choose to boot into windows. The screen sort of hangs for about 20 seconds in a black screen with an underscore at the top left corner before even starting to boot into windows. I know its normal for this to happen for like 5 seconds tops, but this is happening for about 20 seconds and its dreadful trying to boot into Windows 7 because it takes so long. When windows is done starting up i don't even get any messages saying startup failed or something like that. This is so annoying that I even reinstalled everything but the same thing happened.

Now all that happens is the normal grey screen appears (with no Apple logo), then it goes to a black screen and has the blinking cursor (Kinda like DOS).

View 8 Replies View RelatedI Have my 15" macbook pro 2,4 Ghz 2G in RAM, with Snow Leopard, bootcamp and vista running for some time (about a year or so) and every thing has been going ok. Last night I made a clean windows 7 installation. All went good, installation, let windows 7 make his updates, I put Snow Leopard disk to make macbook pro drivers updates and I installed all the program I need including Norton 2010 Antivirus.
All went smooth and easy untill I activated Windows 7 with Daz Windows Loader 1.6.9. After a few seconds It said : Everything Ok, Windows is now activated and your machine will reboot now. After that, it gets out of the desktop to the closing window and suddenly I get the blue death screen. I have to manually press de power button to shut down my macbook pro.
I reboot again and after getting the safe mode screen stuff i just keep with Start Windows normally. It starts well again, but now each time I want to reboot or shut down my MBP I get again and again the blue death screen. And I�m sure i will get it while working soon.Is it probably because I did all kind of updates before running the Daz Loader (including programs and antivirus software)??
Can I take over my mac screen from windows 7? like with remote desktop or something?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have installed Windows 7 on a Bootcamp partition and use VM Fusion as well, I am trying to get my Windows 7 desktop onto my Plasma TV when I have only Windows 7 booted.
I have a mini displayport to DVI adapter (not worried about sound right now) but when boot into Windows I cannot find the TV as a output setting.
It used to be with my old PC I would see the TV as a possible output and I could chose either Dualscreens or simply set the Plasma as the main display.
Could someone please help me achieve this with my iMac? Am I missing a driver or just missing a setting?
This is the image I get on my iMac 2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo OSX10.5.4. I have repaired permisions and removed all login items. Once I move the cursor or open up a window the screen clears behind the cursor or window etc... It freezes up at least once or twice a day...
I started up again and attached another screen, the image was normal on both screens. But alone the iMac still starts up with the pixelated screen.
First of all I'm new here so just wanted to say 'Hi', its been great to see all the discussions on these forums and they help a lot with buying tips and troubleshooting so thanks.
Problem #1 I purchased a refurb 24" 2.8GHz imac early May and have been using it since then and so far other than the "normal" gradient issue and a brownish tinge around the edges of the screen it has been good.
Lately I've been using Aperture a lot and first started to notice that in some pictures especially ones with quite a bit of highlights like clouds that there are small hatch like patches in all the pics. I know it isn't the pictures but the imac screen itself as you can see it on the desktop as well. It only seems to be centralized in the upper left hand section of the screen and they seem to be lite purple/blue in color. And like I said its only in patches in certain spots on the screen. Don't know if I'm being over anal about this or is this a problem?
Problem #2 I switched to a solid blue background to check the above problem and notice that there is screen burn in of the top and bottom header in the outline of my firefox window on the blue screen. Between switching windows often and applications very frequently and not leaving the computer at all... what the heck? Not normal for imac screens is it? Heat issue causing burn in? Hasn't been an issue with any other LCD I've ever used.
By the way the imac came in a new white box and was wrapped like new in perfect condition but I popped it open without ever starting it once to make a hard drive swap and the thing was definitely a bit dusty inside so in now way was it just used for a couple weeks before being given back to apple.

I've been googling like crazy and just can't find any real answer. I have a 24" iMac and installed Windows 7 64 bit.
I managed to install the Boot Camp drivers from my Leopard disc but I now have no sound - not that I had it before installing the drivers.
Figured it must be an issue with the old Boot Camp not entirely supporting Windows 7 and tried to install the newer drivers from my Snow Leopard disc (the one I got with my Macbook Pro - late 2009) but I can't run these.
First I try to run the setup file in the Boot Camp directory on the disc but it gives me an error which says: "Boot Camp x64 is unsupported on this computer model.
" So I try to run the BootCamp64 file in the Boot Camp/Drivers/Apple directory on the disc, but this gives me another error: "This installation requires elevated privileges. Launch this installer through setup.exe."
So what am I supposed to do?
I just installed boot camp and windows on my new imac. Everything seems to be working great. I noticed, however, that on the mac keyboard there is not an "insert" button or a "num lock" button. Is there a link or manual to figure out which buttons I can use for the windows apps?

I have a copy of Windows 7 Pro x64 (Downloaded an ISO from DigitalRiver and burned to a DVD. I paid for the license back in october. it was a digital download.)
I was going to download the 3.1 bootcamp update, but saw it was an exe which I guess means I have to install it in Windows after I install the OS?

Everything seems to install fine, it goes through the whole process and then restarts which leaves me with a black screen ever after 30 mins.
I tried doing the whole process over again from the beginning while I went to the store. Came back and it appeared the computer was sleeping so I clicked the magic mouse and the computer awoke with a black screen still.
(Found this interesting because doesn't that mean the bluetooth is working fine?)
I am at a loss guys? What should I do to get Windows 7 Pro x64 working on my iMac?

View 15 Replies View RelatedI think it worked at one point, but sometime around the point when I set up Fusion with the partition, Windows Aero turned off and is no longer an option in the display settings. I installed this driver with the modded INF to see if it would do anything, but Aero is still not an option. I also have issues playing some games in Fusion, while they work fine in Boot Camp.

I have everything up and running except I believe there's a sound quality issue. When I play music on the Mac OS side it seems very clear and precise. However, when music is played via Windows the sound seems to have deteriorated, almost hollow or more muffled?
Has anybody else experienced this? Is this normal for Windows or this a driver issue?
I'm a 25-year PC user looking to switch to iMac that also runs Windows 7 virtually. Wondering if there are recommended keyboards that map seamlessly to both Mac to PC programs as I will run these side by side. I'm looking for one with backlit keys, a gaming keyboard would be ok though I am not a gamer.
