But web developers have become wily it seems. No longer do the old methods appear to work. I've tried: Apps for downloading youtube videos, using the Activity window in Safari (only a small SWF file of about 21kb appears in the activity window), numerous Firefox plugins To no avail.
There are apparently apps for Windows that can manage to download these tricky types of videos, is there anything or any method on the Mac? I've been ripping my hair out trying. I've searched the forum, but none of the suggested methods work.
Sometimes i watched some cool video which i cant save it using quicktime or others. Its kind of streaming video. How could i save it?

I ask because when you record a file and export it, it gives you the option to export the recording in HDV 720p or HDV 1080i .. doesn't this mean that you should be able to record in HD?
This unit doesn't come with Component outlets, it only lets you plug on the Red, White, and Yellow Composite cables and an S-Video cable, but you need either an HDMI port or an Component to capture 720p or 1080i, correct?
Am I missing something here or can you not record in HD? If not, then what's the point of those HD export settings?
I'm interested in hooking my AT&T uVerse to my mac so that I can watch tv on my Mac and occasionally archive some things onto my Mac. I know that the Elgato EyeTV 250 Plus will do this, but it's more than I need since the uVerse box is already a DVR.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 27" iMac with a second monitor and I also have an LCD TV in my office. What I would LOVE to do is ditch the TV, and be able to take the stuff that is running into it, plug it into some magic "box" that would then let me just watch the output in some resizable window (in HD) on my Mac.
Is there *anything* that can do this on the mac?
I want to capture what is going on my Mac's screen as a video. For example. I want to turn something on, start an application and demo a few features, and then turn the something off, resulting in a video file of my screen during that period, showing my application demo.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a good quality/fast free screen capture video recorder software for my iMac that I can record things on my screen.
I require a software that is resizable to your specific dimensions that you require recording of.
For example, if you only wanted to capture and record a section in Pages, you would be able to click and drag how much area you wish to record.
I have tried both "Capture Me" and "Copernicus", but I had issues with both. Copernicus seems to let me click and drag the surface area I wish (then nothing else besides a viewfinder preview window pops up), then when I hit record it might record a second or two and then shut off... or maybe that was on Capture Me, I cannot remember right now...
Does anyone have a good video screen capture software? I really liked the Hypercam on Windows, but that had a water mark that needed to be paid to remove...
In Quicktime Pro 7 I can capture either 640x480 or uncompressed. The uncompressed gives me to large files, while the 640x480 is to bad. My camera is HD 1080 and my capture need to be the same. But it have to record compressed like .mp4 or H264 or something.Â
The best way should be if I could capture for the vimeo-format without exporting after capturing. Is there I plug-in or something for Quicktime that allows me to choose the capture settings more than the default settings?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have recently been asked to help set up a "TV studio" for a church. It is basically a project designed to turn the church pulpit into a working TV studio where weekly sermons can be streamed onto the web, or even played on local public access TV channels, for those tech savvy partitioners that can't make it to regular sermons. The budget for equipment is very generous, and the church has expressed a preference for using mac computers for everything from initial sound and video capture, production editing, and streaming to the web and/or local TV stations.
Equipment they already have is the typical stuff you might find in a modern church, eg. 4 mics on and around the pulpit, a fairly new sound board (not sure how many channels, but at least 10 or more), some old mini-dv camcorders, etc. I'm starting from scratch here. This is an equipment and software question, but I'm posting on the software forum because they have already decided on a mac computer. It is just a question of whether an iMac or a Mac Pro tower will be used.
Im trying to Capture videos from a sony dvd camcorder. im using a canopus advanced DV converter (ADVC-110 is the model #). quicktime version 10.0 is installed on this computer.
iMac 6.1 using OS X 10.6.2so this is what happens. i will attempt to capture a video from the camcorder to final cut express hd and during the capture, the video will momentarily freeze on the computer, however the playback on the camcorder continues. the result is that the video freezes while the audio continues to capture (and during playback as well). any ideas on what the problem could be?
i dont use this computer for any software/music downloading or anything like that so viruses are pretty much out of the question. if theres any other information you may need let me know.
a short question to the experts out there. I wanna capture the following kick-ass web-exclusive live performance by Jenny & Johnny on my hard disk:
[URL]
I want to achieve this in the best quality possible, meaning that the best thing would preserving the quality (which already is very compressed, of course) 100%. The final format would be mp4 to include it to my iTunes library, so the best thing would be a direct convert without an AVI-step or something like that between.
maybe its because I've been up until 3 in the morning the last couple days playing with Leopard. But I swear somewhere I saw a way to capture a screen as video.
I want to post a demo of the mosaic screen saver on my Livejournal.
And if there isn't anything built in. Anyone know any good, pref free, apps. I say free because I'll probably use this once.
I've been looking at some usb 2.0 external capture devices and none of them say that it is compatible with Mac. Is the hardware not compatible or just the bundled software? Can I still capture video and just use iMovie to edit? I have only had a Mac for a short time and am trying to get use to the fact that not everything works with a Mac.

I'm tryin to transfer video from my Sony DV camera to my iMac, but neither iMovie not Adobe Premiere cannot recognise the device. They both automatically select my iSight camera as the one and only video source.Â
When I check the Firewire status in System Profiler I get the message: "Unable to list FireWire devices".Â
I have tired restarting the software, unplugging the camera, unplugging the firewire cable, restarting my Mac but still no result.Â
I spent a considerable amount of time Googling for solutions but have not come up with anything that helped. I have also tried unplugging all other USB devices, restarting the machine, trying again, but still the same issue.Â
The weird thing is that about a year ago I managed to capture video just fine from the camera into Premiere without any problems.Â
The only thing that is different now, is that I have Windoes XP installed on my Mac as well. Could this be an issue, with XP "stealing" my firewire connection in some manner? I'm not sure how this would be possible, but I suppose it could be...Â
My iMac is a 21.5" with an Intel Core 2 Duo 3.06GHz processor. 4GB DDR3 Ram and Mac OS X 10.6.8Â
iMovie is version 8.0.6 and Premiere is CS4. As I said, I had managed to capture video using the same equpiment about a year ago and the only difference now is that I also have a partition on my Mac with Windows XP (Service pack 3) on it.Â
Of course, the cable itself could be faulty, but since it hasn't been used in over a year, I doubt that's the issue. I still wanna try anything else, before I buy a new cable.Â
