OS X :: Burning A Disc From IDVD?

Oct 28, 2010

I have created a DVD slideshow in iDVD but when I burn it to disc the quality of the images is unacceptable. I have tried different solutions from forums but the results with each thing I try don't resolve the problem.

I have created it in iMovie, Share as a quicktime movie onto my desktop, then moved this into iDVD but the results are still poor. I have also tried burning it through Roxio Toast, and a couple of other disc burning programmes. I have tried it with the images as jpeg's and tiff's on different resolutions, and I have made sure the ken burns effect is off.

I have VisualHub, but I'm not sure what to do...

Applications :: How To Send IDVD Project Without Burning

Jan 14, 2009

I just finished an iDVD project and saved it with the default file extension of .dvdproj.

I want to send this to someone with a Windows PC for them to view, but I do not want to burn it onto a disc because I need to send it overseas and it would take a considerably long time.

Is there any way I can convert the iDVD project to another file extension so I can email it to this person? Or, if I go back into the project is there a way to just save it under a more common file extension?

Applications :: IDVD Burning Freezes When Played

Dec 13, 2009

I'm new to iMac, with a brand new 21.5" and Snow Leopard OS, current version of iDVD. I saved a slide show (approx 240 pics, with audio tracks ripped from CD) from "Photo to Movie 4.2.7" twice, once as a DV movie, again as a Quicktime movie...both around 3.5 GB. In both instances, after dragging the the movies into iDVD and setting up, the resulting movie plays on the iMac, using iDVD preview or Quicktime player, but when I burn on a DVD, the movie "freezes" at approx. the midpoint..that is, the DVD continues to play but the image freezes on the last picture from the movie that burned successfully. There is no music transition at that point, so that is not the issue, and there is no file size warning in iDVD.

Applications :: Burning DVDs With IDVD - Do Without Themes / Use Different Burner

Dec 19, 2009

I want to burn a DVD from a video I have on my hard drive. I want it to play on DVD players as well as my iMac. But what I don't want is the smarmy "Themes" iDVD insist there be on the result. IS there a way I can do this without the Themes or will I have to use a different burner? Some videos I have are .avi, DVIX, .wmv, etc. I'm sure that the starting format has nothing to do with my problem, but one never knows. I'm running OSX 10.6.2 and am really happy with it. Although, I haven't see any difference when running it in 64-bit mode. But maybe if I were using more 64-bit software?

Applications :: Shrinking An Avi Video For IDVD?

Apr 17, 2009

Applications :: Why Does A 2GB Video File Not Fit On An IDVD Project

Sep 26, 2010

I have a 2GB m4v file that I wanted to use iDVD to create a movie for. But even taking it off of Best Performance and instead using High Quality, the movie is too large to be burned. It's showing it as a 4.81 GB project.

I'll admit my ignorance here...what gives? How does a 2GB file grow that large when being encoded as a DVD?

When I put it into iDVD and let it burn, the video just looks... weird. I'm not sure how to describe it, exactly, but it's just weird. I can't figure out what's wrong. Is it possible it's something in iDVDs conversion to MPEG-2?

Applications :: Is IDVD Able To Keep 16:9 Menu And Play 4:3 Video?

Nov 24, 2009

Is this possible? One of the apple techs told me no. I would have to change the menu to 4:3. I have 20 year old videos that I want to play in 4:3 because anytime it stretches the top gets cut down pretty bad. Yet I would love to keep the 16:9 menu screen (theme).

Another question what is best resolution to use when sending old movies (4:3 poor quality) from iMovie to iDVD? Medium? or Large?

What sucks is when I preview my video in iDVD everything looks right. Menu is 16:9 and when it plays the videos it's 4:3 ( for some reason with grey sidebars instead of black). It's just when I burn it to dvd and play on home widescreen tvs when the problems start. The menu is chopped off on a side and the videos are being stretched.

Applications :: Best Video Format For Burning DVD?

May 8, 2009

What video format is best when using the "dvd video from video-TS" option in Toast 7.0.2? My goal is to burn a video onto a dvd and then watch it on any tv. So far, I've tried the .mpg and mpeg4 video formats. I find that the video quality with .mpg is poor with a jittery picture when watching it on tv via a dvd disk. The video itself plays fine on the computer, and the dvd-r disks that I use are of high quality. Comparatively, Toast did not accept the mpeg4 format when dragging this video into the "dvd video from video-TS" window.

OS X :: Video Files On The Disc Are Unplayable After Burning?

Apr 30, 2009

I recently burned a couple of .avi and .mpg video files to a dual-layer DVD+R as a data disc (DVD-ROM) using the program "Burn" which is, in essence, a nicer front-end to Mac OS X's burning capabilities.

However, after burning, the video files on the disc are now unplayable. It seems like they are corrupt.

Am I doing something wrong? Do dual-layer discs need special settings to make it work as data discs?

Applications :: Using Mov Files In IDVD, No Sound And No Video Play After Burn?

Apr 1, 2009

I have 12 Videos in .mov format that I saved from .wmv format using quicktime and flip4mac. I have also tried saving them as AVI and same result.

Here's the problem, when I put them into iDVD and save as disk image to check, the videos are there, but no sound. I tried also burning them to DVD, using a maxell DVD-R 16x, and all the will come up on the dvd is the title menu. Movies will not play on my macbook or in the dvd player on TV. I tried using the .avi format but there still was no sound, and the movies were really choppy.

if i try to use iMovie, it will not even import these .mov files (doesn't let me click on them to import)

is there another format i need to export to, or change some setting to get the sound in my project, and get the movies to play have i burn them?

All the movies are approx 1hr long except one, and I was using the best performance setting putting 2 movies per dvd.

Applications :: IDVD Burns Dvds With No Video And Audio Damaged?

May 12, 2009

I just got a brand new iMac '09 with. I love it already but the only problem I seem to be having is iDVD. I got a movie that is about 700 MB, and would like to burn it onto DVD. First iDVD was saying its too large for the 4.2 GB DVD, so I selected high quality instead of previously selected Best Performance. That fit the movie onto the DVD. Once the encoding was done, I burned it. However now, when I play in on my DVD player, there is no video (green screen) and sound is all scrambled. Same thing when I play in on the iMac. I then noticed that already on the preview menu (under media) the movie is played with no video and damaged audio. Also, when it was finished burning on the dvd, iDVD kept asking for blank recordable DVDs to be inserted, which after two ruined dvds I cancelled.

The default Compressor options are:

DVCProHD 720p24     (the footage was shot and edited using this codec)
HD DVD H.264 60 minutes
HD uncompressed 8-bit or 10-bit

I've also considered exporting a Quicktime .MOV file and letting Toast do the compressing.

Software :: Iphoto6 & Idvd Have Superimposed And Distorted Images Of Photo And Video?

Nov 14, 2009

problem:

1.I create a new slideshow with any random pictures

2.I click preview or play slideshow and I see a distorted image. basically it looks like two copies of the photo are laid on top of itself on the a triangular portion of the screen.

troubleshooting done so far:

1. I tried exporting to a video file to see if its just my monitor, but the file also displays the same junk image on another monitor.

2. ive turned off all transitions and effects on the slideshow.

3. Also I tried another profile.

iDVD is doing the same thing as well. Any animated dvd menu I choose ends up screw up on my screen. It appears anytime i A. use iphoto to make a slideshow or B. make an IDVD menu the video is corrupted somehow.

I will have to find an ilife disc and try reinstalling, but im thinking it might not be the application's fault.

im not sure what else to try.

This is the first time ive attempted creating a slideshow on this machine so i do not know if it has ever worked before in previous iphoto versions.

note: I would like to fix this problem and not bypass it with another program.

MacBook :: Burning Projects To TS - VIDEO Folders On Desktop / Via Toast?

Jan 13, 2011

This is my first post, so please be gentle! I have a 2006/7 White Macbook Core2Duo 2.10Ghz, and I love compiling my own movie compilations via iDVD. The problem that I have is two fold; 1. I burnt 4 episodes of a Public Domain TV Show (3 Stooges) using one of the current menus, and it compiled lovely, burn to disc and verified, but then no sound from the episodes, even though on my master PC, the sound is there, and sound is also present when I copied to my Macbook. 2. I have tried another few discs, each time iDVD states that the disc could not be verified and that the disc is unreadable. Both have been burnt at 6x (my combo/super drives max). Do I possibly need a new drive? Is it worth me burning the project to TS_VIDEO folders on my desktop then burning them via Toast? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I'm wanting to delve deeper into iDVD and iMovie as I think they are spot on programs.
