Snow Leopard :: Macbook Not Loading Past White Screen With Logo And Spinnning Wheel?

Basically i have a macbook 10.6.4 Snow Lepoard that is making me want to literally bash its brains out but, unfortunatly i cant because it is owened by the school...As mentioned in previous posts, my school It dept are incredibly slow and their idea of fixing something is to wipe everthing and reinstall all the programs once again. if that dosent work their other way of fixing something is to send it off to apple. for obveous reasons i want to avoid that. it ONLY started today, (last night i was happily doing last minuite homework) when its was lagging so much that i did the inevitable, i quit tetris and restarted my computer...This led to me sitting infront of a white screen and a spinning wheel for the whole lesson. The next lesson i got fed up with waiting and restarted. nothing. I have also notied that my macbook seems to heat up REALLY FAST toward the bottom of the screen (where is says macbook).

Snow Leopard :: MacBook Stuck On Apple Logo Loading Screen
Having an issue with my white apple MacBook, the 2008 edition. It's running OS 10.6 and everything was fine. Tried plugging my iPhone 4 in but it wasn't detected so I restarted the MacBook. When I tried to turn it back on it's stuck on the loading screen, and won't go into safe mode. I've tried booting without the iPhone plugged in but having no luck. I haven't changed the hardware or installed new software so don't know what's happened. I'm new to mac so don't really know how to troubleshoot things and fix the problems.

When I turn my iMac on I get a white screen with the apple on it and spinning wheel then. It hangs. So when I turn the machine off then back on it will then start up properly. Power Mac G5 :: Stuck On The Startup Apple Logo And Spinning Loading Wheel?
I have a power mac g5 with tiger 10.4.11 OS on it. I bought it a year ago second hand and it has been working amazing since then. But about two weeks ago I got that message on screen telling me to resart my computer and then after that I couldn't start my machine up. It kept on getting stuck on the spinning wheel at the start with the apple logo and if I leave it long enough, the apple turns into a no entry sign and the fans start to become very noisie. I have luckly been able to start my Mac up on some occassions so I have backed everything up on an external hard drive. I have also re-installed the operating system on there cause I thought it might have just been a disk error or somehing. Since I've re-installed everything, I haven't putall my applications back on. Only a couple so that I could create this web site. I also remember typing somehing into terminal before this all happened so I have a feeling it might be somehing to do with that but I have no idea what I typed in there but I'm sure it didsomething bad.

MacBook :: Won't Boot Past Gray Screen And Spinning Wheel
I apologize for the long message but I want to be as detailed as possible. My MacBook (purchased early 2006, white 13", upgraded to Leopard about a year ago with no problems until now) will not boot past the grey screen and spinning wheel. Here' are the list of 6 steps I've followed so far and still is not working. Oh, and I do not have any peripherals attached to my MacBook:

1. Reboot in Safe Mode: tried pressing down the Shift key before the powering up sound AND after the sound. Could not get into Safe Mode. Did this several times, holding the Shift key for as much as a minute or two. Nothing but grey screen and spinning wheel.

2. Reset NVRAM/PRAM: CMD+R+P+Option: Computer restarted but still goes into Grey Screen, spinning wheel and stays there forever.

3. CMD +S: I read this online. Gave me a black screen with a lot of information, but I don't know how to read the computer jargon, let alone know what to do with said info. 4. Disk Utility Repair Disk : Inserted my Leopard install disk. Went to Utility Disk. Performed a Repair Disk and I did get two error messages, something related to id 70000452 should be id 70000450 ( I'm sorry to say I cannot remember the exact error messages). But it showed as repaired. When I did a 2nd Repair Disk, I got the message that the volume appears to be OK. Turned off and on again, nothing but grey screen and wheel.......

MacBook Pro :: Does Not Start Past Gray Screen / Apple Logo And Rolling Circle?
My Macbook Pro is not starting past the grey screen and the apple logo and the rolling circle. I have tried every method and I am desperate to do anything to start my computer even erase the entire disc. I have contacted the Apple store and they told me the cost will be equivalent to $600 to just repair it and no way I will be able to afford it.I am willing to do anything and even erase my entire disc. However, for that the instructions on the Apple page state that 'Insert your Mac OS X 10.4 or 10.5 installation disc'. However, I do not have my installation disc Is there any other way I can erase the OS system and at least reboot my Macbook?

MacBook :: Won't Boot Past Gray Screen With Apple Logo And Then Shuts Off
This morning, I would turn it on and it'd go to the grey screen with the Apple logo for a few seconds and then go to the icon that is a circle with a line through it. After reading online, I was able to boot it up in Safe Mode. I went to Startup Disk in Preferences. I chose the MAC OS X, xxxx and then clicked the lock to prevent further changes and then clicked restart. Now when I turn on the macbook, it goes to the grey screen with the Apple logo for at least two-three minutes and then just shuts off. Won't boot into Safe Mode now. I already tried the Command-Option-P-R keys trick like five times.

MacBook Pro :: MBP Won't Startup: Not Going Past Apple And Spinning Wheel On Grey Screen
I just bought my mbp in september and it was working fine. The past couple of days it wouldn't do certain tasks saying there was a network memory error, i think 5000. Then today it wasn't recognizing my ipod (wouldn't connect, but would charge) so, i restarted. bad idea. now it won't go past the grey screen with the apple and the spinning activity bar.

things i've tried:
-safe booting, the bar shows up but then it goes away and does nothing.
-restarted with the startup install disc to do a disc utility check, does everything and says nothing is wrong
-restarted with the diagnostics test, ran both the long and the short test, and both times nothing is wrong
-and i've done a pram reboot

nothings worked. is there anything else i can try? i'm going to call apple in the morning after i try restarting it again.

MacBook Pro :: Not Loading Up - Grey Screen With Apple And Spinning Wheel
I have a 2.4GHz Macbook Pro from 2009 running Snow leopard and it wont load up. I am currently in the Ukraine was using it yesterday on a shoot location. I used a local USB dongle to access the internet. it installed a software patch for me to access the internet and the computer was running fine for a couple of hours then I accidently opened up my Futuredecks software and the beach ball appeared. So i force quit then the entire desktop went blank for 30 secs so I powered off and since then I just get the grey screen and apple logo everytime i start up. I have tried zapping PRAM, loading up in safe mode gets me nowhere and I dont have my install disks with me. The comp loads up as a firewire drive when i link it to another laptop but i cant run the programmes i need ie FCP7.

MacBook Pro :: 2007 Won't Get Past Grey Loading Screen?
I had been using my MBP running Snow Leopard to play movies and music through a TV/stereo and brought it with me when I moved to do the same, but now it won't start it.  I kept it asleep as I brought it on the plane, then when I got to my new apartment, it was frozen.  I shut it down, then tried to turn it back on but it get stuck in the grey loading screen with the Apple logo.

I've tried starting in safe mode (it will bring up the safe mode loading bar, then that disappears and it gets stuck on the normal gray loading screen).I've also tried resetting the SMC and NVRAM.

Then, I tried to start it up from a friend's OS X install disk (but it came with his MacBook from the same era, so idk if it only works for MB and not MBP), but that doesn't work either (selected it as the startup disk by holding Option when booting up, then selecting it.  It then goes to what it does normally except it will turn itself off instead of gettting stuck.)

I don't know what else to do.  I'm assuming something is seriously broken.  I'm hoping it might just need a reinstall or maybe a new hard drive, which I could do if it's not too expensive.

PowerPC :: System Become Slow Not Getting Past Logo Screen
So so annoyed right now. Today my 12" G4 powerbook started to become slow, lots of spinning wheel, delayed menus etc. I checked file permissions, rebooted and it just kept on getting slower. Eventually it wouldn't get past the white apple screen. I booted off the Tiger DVD and ran disk utility to fix and repair permissions again. It wouldn't let me repair the disk as I kept getting this error: 'Repair volume failed with error could not unmount disk'.

I had to reboot again, and eventually my hard disk no longer appears in Disk Utility. I tried to boot into safe mode and get this:
'"I0ATAController device blocking bus
I0ATAController device blocking bus
I0ATAController device blocking bus

Power Mac G5 :: Won't Boot Past Apple Logo Screen?
I'm trying to repair a Powermac G5 (dual 2.0, the first model I believe, with a new Radeon 9800 graphics card) that won't boot and I'm having some problems that I can't seem to diagnose.

The machine will boot to the openfirmware prompt or target disc mode and will show the 'OS not found' icon if left to boot from the HD (which has been wiped). If I try to boot from either the included restore disc or a retail 10.4 DVD I've tried it will show the boot screen with the Apple logo on it but no spinning status indicator underneath. It just freezes on that screen. Once it showed the status indicator but it just continued to spin for about 30 mins, at which point I gave up. Same issue if I try to boot the hardware test (except it freezes on the hardware test loading icon rather than the Apple icon). The superdrive appears to work as it is accessible in target disc mode.

I've reset the SMU and reset the PRAM via the keyboard shortcut. The one thing that leads me to think it's a firmware fault is that when I run the 'reset-nvram' command it gives an OK, but when I then run 'reset-all' it freezes rather than rebooting. Any ideas anyone?

I've been searching for different solutions on the net but nothing works Seems unbelievable but I bought it from Amazon exactly 1 year ago from yesterday and all the authorized service centers have been closed for the weekend. OS X :: Can't Get Past Loading Bar In Boot Screen
My mac was shutting down and it took sooo long (blue screen with the spinning loader). I never experienced this, cause normally the dock would vanish and my mac would shut down instantly. But this time it kept showing a blue shutdown screen, so I decided (after about 2 minutes) to hold the power button and force a shutdown. The next time I booted the mac it showed me the gray boot screen, with the spinning wheel and a gray loading bar, which I think is indicating a firmware update or something that has to do with my forced shutdown. But the bar gets to about 1/8 and then vanishes. The spinning wheel stays, but nothing else happens. It just hangs and keeps spinning forever.

MacBook Pro :: Stuck At White Loading Screen With The Apple?
Ok, last night there was an update for OSx Lion. I installed the 3 items, it said I needed to restart, which I did. When it restarted there was another box, which was checking the updates or something. After that finished, it logged into my home screen, and I shut it off. Today, I tried turning it on and it was stuck. After 10 minutes, I held the power button to shut it off and try again. I did this twice, and on the third time a loading bar showed up at the bottom of the screen, went for a while and almost reached halfway, then it dissappeared. I waited, but nothing happened. What's wrong and how to I fix it? I think its 10.7.3, but it might be 10.7.2 I'm not sure what the difference is.

Software :: OS X Not Loading - Stuck On Logo Screen
The computer is stuck on the apple screen with the spinning wheel. I can manage to boot up in safe mode but that is it. This arose from an apple security software download recently and when the machine went to reboot it could not. Now on a normal boot up it just sits on the grey screen with the spinning wheel for hours (if let). I have booted up in safe mode and removed anything from the Accounts that was other than the iTunes helper - rebooted - nothing

I have attempted an SMC and PRAM - again on reboot - nothing. I have also started in option mode but there are only two symbols that I can use one is a circular arrow, which does nothing when clicked and the other is a right pointing arrow that appears to attempt to launch OS X, to no avail. I have also tried the option of rebooting with the install disk in the drive and holding down the C key - again nothing.

OS X :: Cannot Boot Past White Screen / Recovery Software?
When I woke up this morning, I went on my macbook (which had been running overnight) and everything was running sluggish. I'd switch between programs and it would hang there for a couple seconds. So after closing all the software and it still doing that, I decided to restart. It wouldn't shut down, and eventually I had to force a hard shut down. When I turn it back on now, it won't go past the white screen. Nothing I've done will make it go anywhere. Holding down option only makes a cursor appear. I tried a tip I read about holding the power button down until the light flashes, and that hasn't helped either.

I've plugged the drive into my XP machine, and it doesn't show up in explorer, but does show up in disk utility. I installed the program TransMac that is supposed to let you access Mac formatted drives, and while the drive shows up in there, when I try to get to it, it says Error reading Mac Disk. So basically, I'm pretty sure the drive is failing. Now I need to know what I should use for recovery software. I've never had to recover a mac drive (I've been a mac convert for less than a year), and any file recovery software I have is for NTFS drives. So what software can I run on windows to recover a Mac formatted drive?

Software :: Ibook G4 Not Boot Past White Screen
I've searched this problem on google for the past hour or so and have had no luck whatsoever. I have an Ibook G4 14" and I think it's like 1.2 CPU. A while back the Ibook stopped working and left me with a grey screen and finder icon with flash quiestion mark. I searched the net for a solution for that and what came back was that I had a dead harddrive. Okay fair enough, I've just replaced the drive with the working one from my Mac Mini, i repeat the WORKING drive, I know it works. So I start up the Ibook and hear the chimes, the screen flashes black white black and then stays on white. I have reset the PRAM and eject disk works but no other key commands, I cannot boot from installer 10.4 cd (a new one I bought, not the bundled one), I can't go into target mode as I have no firewire and leaving it alone for a while doesn't help.

OS X Tiger :: Single User Mode Copying Files/System Does Not Boot Past Apple Logo Screen
I have a Macbook 2.0GHZ, 2GB RAM, that recently tried to download a secuirty and keynot update. Following the download the system will no longer boot past the Apple Logo Screen with the spinning wheel. I do not have access to a OS disk yet or to a firewire cable either. I've have seen posts from others that describe how to use traget disk mode to reinstall the secuirty update manually and then they can boot their computer. Safe mode will not work.

I did boot into single-user mode and run the disk utility there and it says my HD is OK. Since I do not have a firewire or an OS Disk, I am wondering if there is a way to copy those files i need to a USB pen stick then install them onto the computer via single-user mode, considering this is the only way I can boot and manipulate the machine at this time.
