Snow Leopard :: Big HD Size Increase From SL
Installing SL went flawlessly and there was an immediate increase of more than 12GB in my Macbook Pro HD space. This is double the amount that was promised. I thought this was just my good fortune and a lot of OSX compression but I got the same unexpected increase in the external 1TB USB drive I use for Time Machine backups. The available capacity jumped from 405GB to 438GB, even though I haven't made any significant changes in stored files or the backup. Did SL do something to the Time Machine backups or does it measure the available HD space differently? I'm not complaining, I just want to know what's different.

OS X Leopard :: How Do I Control The Size Of Windows And Fonts On The Desktop
Recently installed OS X 10.5. Everything seemed to go well. Yesterday used Time Machine for first time. When I got to office this morning, the back up was finished (backing up 107 GB -- took about 21 hours, HD is 111 GB -- should it have taken that long?).

When I launched Time Machine to check out the back up, the window and fonts were much larger than previously sized at.

Then launched FireFox and the same thing happened. I am not able to see all the tabs I have in the browser because the window is SO LARGE.

How do I control the size of windows and fonts on the desktop?

OS X Leopard :: Emails With Rich Texts Sent Wrong Fonts & Size Received
I have a problem with my rich text emails sent. I have configured my fonts, using known international fonts, however, whenever sending my emails based on exactly the chosen fonts, receivers of such emails, using windows & office program, complain that why am I using large fonts, fonts not of my choice and the signature fonts look size 16 while I have them configured at size 11. I checked more than once and I even sent an email to another windows based PC, even though I checked my fonts and size configuration thoroughly, yet it is received wit wrong fonts and size, not to mention the different size and fonts of the signature.

MacBook Pro :: Font Size On 17 Is Too Small - How Can I Increase The Font Size
I'm trying to increase the font size of my mac, but I can't find it anywhere. I should be really simple to do so I'm probably missing something. On windows you just right click the desktop > appearance and bang. How can I do it on the mac? Oh and I don't want to increase the font of safari or finder, i already know how to do that, what I'm looking for is a way to make all fonts bigger (including menus)... just like you do on windows, make all fonts 1.2 times bigger.

Windows On Mac :: How To Increase Partition Size
I'm prepping to install Vista over XP (my friend says I'm downgrading, which I probably am). As I noted in an earlier post, I need to give more space to my Windows partition. Does this sequence look OK to you guys?

1. Boot from Mac OS X Install DVD. Check "Macintosh HD" and "NO NAME" for errors; fix if needed.

2. Defragment "Macintosh HD" and "NO NAME".

3. Use GParted or iPartition (on LiveCDs) to see how much space is left between the two partitions.

4. Boot in to Mac OS X on "Macintosh HD". Use diskutil to shrink "Macintosh HD".

5. Boot from GParted LiveCD. Use GParted to move and expand "NO NAME", remembering the buffer between partitions as determined in step 3.

6. Boot from Mac OS X Install DVD. Check "Macintosh HD" and "NO NAME" for errors; fix if needed.

7. Install Vista and pray I don't run out of space...

IMac :: Any Possibility To Increase Font Size On System?
I'm new to IMac and I did a quick search and found nothing. I got an IMac less than 24hrs ago. With the IMac I find that I struggle to read things even with my glasses on. Is there any possible way of changing the system font so I can make it larger? Trying to read things on the imac is actually giving me a headache because my eyes are straining so much.

I'm using FireFox which is great because once you make the page larger (cmd & +) it remembers so when you go back there the page is still large and readable but things like the toolbar is unreadable. Some sites I've been on even with the page zoomed in some of the writing remains tiny and unreadable. I have the 27" IMac and to have the toolbar font so small on such a big screen seems very silly to me because it's unreadable.

ITunes :: Album Art - File Size Increase Is Too Much?
I just noticed this right now. Basically I'm in the process of converting my entire collection to iTunes file structure/format and am reembedding artwork. I've been using google and I can find a file that's approximately 125 kb's (600 x 600) and DRAG the file from the safari window into either the album art box in the left hand corner and/or the get info box and the size of the files will increase significantly.

For instance, I grabbed a 135 kb album artwork for Adele 21 and it jacked up the size of the album by 10 mb's. Alternatively, if I save that file directly to my computer and drag it, as a file, into that same box, the size of the album only increases proportionate to the size of the file so 135 kb's x 16 songs (approximately 2 mb's). Is there a reason fro the difference? Does this have to do with iTunes converting the file to png if dragged from the safari window.  I was purposely avoiding higher quality artwork cause the file sizes were increasing so significantly. I was more worried downstream when I dragged these albums to my iPhone. I just want to make sure I'm not missing something. If this is the route that I have to go then that's fine with me. I'll proceed with saving each individual file and going about it that way.
