Safari :: Launch Adobe Reader For Displaying PDF File On Website?
Mar 14, 2012
How do I launch Adobe Reader from Safari when displaying a .pdf file on the website? Using OS10.7.3, and Safari 5.1.3. Safari apparently is launching Preview instead of Adobe Reader.
Adobe Reader XI(11.0.07) Will not launch. It says I have completed the download but when I go to open a document it gives me an error message "First launch Adobe Reader and accept user agreement....." I have uninstalled and re-installed several times.
I'm wondering why some websites when turned to the "Reader" option in Safari, some html characteristics are missing. One that I noticed was the <hr> tag that creates an horizontal line across an html page. Is that a normal thing for Reader to do? Can it be forced to display that somehow?Â
After uninstalling pdf reader from adobe, I lost possiblitiy to opend pdf documents in safari. Usually, before installing adobe reader pdf documents opened nicely in Safari, with link to download or print a document. Now, all what opens is a gray page, without any content in it. When trying printing, I get blank page. Has anyone encountered this problem? How can I switch to old Safari behavior - native pdf reading ability, present in OSX?
I need to test PDF in browser and i installed Adobe Reader, since i have to doble check correct view in reader as in mac os preview, i also have some selection problem with preview after i installed Adobe Reader some time when i open PDF in Safari speens my CPU up to 100%? can't find i need to keep reader on my mac, but view in safari / browser with preview in reader under preference i found internet and "display PDF in browser using:" and i flag near it but is gray out / disabled even with safari closed
I used to use Preview to view PDF files but found the files didn't display properly, in particular the annotations, so I installed Adobe Reader & the files displayed properly. Lately though the files have changed & open in Safari through a plugin, which doesn't display properly & don't give the option to open in Adobe Reader. I have deleted Adobe Reader & re-installed, but it is a long process to get it to open in Adobe Reader. Â How do I disable the plugins & get PDF files to open directly in Adobe Reader?
I use Safari 5.1.7 and Adobe Reader 10.1.3. I have mac osx.6.8 which, according to Adobe, is compatible with Adobe Reader 10.1.3. Selecting a pdf file to display results in a black page.
Using Safari, when I go to a webpage with a .pdf URL the page is blank. I recently upgraded to Lion and purchased/installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro (I was using Acrobat 7.0 with Snow Leopard). The only way to access these types of pages is by trying to download linked file (which sometimes doesn't work).
This is driving me crazy. I've just downloaded and reinstalled the latest Adobe Reader. But Safari is still acting up. I see the watch icon instead of my mouse when I click on a link to a PDF. Then I just see a white screen and I end up having to force quit Safari.
I'm all up to date with OS X software updates and the new Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.1.3 but the Safari plug is being invoked, which I don't want. can't find it in Internet plug ins in the library
Installing the latest Adobe Reader causes Preview to be overwritten by Reader as the default PDF reader in Safari. There's a setting in Adobe Reader prefs that should aloow one to change the setting, but it is greyed out. You'll need to go to your HD/Library/Internet Plug-in folder and remove the Adobe plug-ins. Quit and restart Safari, then Preview is default again.
I'm running osx 10.6.4 and Adobe Reader is giving me fits. It doesn't play well. How do I change the default PDF reader from Adobe to Preview or iArchiver? Adobe Reader just grabs hold of the download and won't let go.
I was looking for a Safari Reader-like add-on for Firefox and finally stumbled on Firefox Reader, which seems to have more customizations, and options. Has anyone else tried it? What are your impressions?
A family member of mine needs Adobe Reader 7 (because they have an old iMac that can't be upgraded to Tiger) and I can't find it anywhere, not on the Adobe site or [URL}. Does anyone know where I can get it?
(PS- the reason they need it is because Preview somehow got deleted and they don't have the OS X install disks.)
I'm trying to email a pdf in Adobe Reader 8.1.5 but when I go to File>Print>PDF button>Mail PDF, I get this strange message saying "saving a pdf file when printing is not supported. Instead choose File>Save" but I'm not trying to save anything, just email.
Ever since the last Adobe Reader update I have been unable to open pdf files in Safari. So I attempted to delete all Adobe applications in hopes of reinstalling the software. Now I can not even save the Adobe Reader install File to download.
I just bought a new Mac, and find that Adobe Reader 9 does not open PDF files. I get a message saying that Adobe Reader 9 will not work on my Mac. Is there any other software that can use to open PDF files on OS 10.6.1? Mac 10.6.1 Intel Core 2 Duo.
I just bought a 24 inch iMac (2008 version) and love it but still figting my PC habits.Sure this is a dumb question - I searched but could not findI am running latest MAC OS X version. I go to Adobe reader website to download but OS X is not an option. Do I simply use the MAC OS version or one of the other options?
I recently installed Adobe Reader. It did installed the plug-ins for Safari (so I can view them in the browser) but not Firefox. Where can I find this plug-in? Or should I re-install Adobe Reader?
I am working for my eagle scout rank and in order to do my service project, a form must be filled out on the computer as a pdf. I started the PDF on my old dell, and i downloaded Adobe reader for my mac to finish it. For preview, it takes the lines of the paragraph and overlaps the words, rendering it unreadable, and for adobe reader, the words are invisible unless editing those words. when the text box isn't selected the words disappear.
I had an update to adobe reader today which has resulted in the inability for it to auto download and open of pdfs. Before the update if I clicked on a link the document would automatically open.
