Jul 2, 2012I've been using Safari 5.1.4 for about six months and haven't had any problems until now. All of a sudden, I can't get Safari to quit. (My other browsers are fine.) When I scroll down under "file" the "quit safari" option is light gray and unresponsive. At first I thought I would uninstall Safari and then reinstall. However, when I tried dragging the icon out of applications, it wouldn't go into trash since it's permanently open. When I try to shut down or log out Safari aborts the operation.

Safari :: Cancelled Shutdown - Quit Option Gray And Non Functional
Jun 26, 2012When I click "shutdown" on my MacBook PRO, I get a popup saying "Safari Cancelled Shutdown" then if I try to close Safari the "Quit Safari" is gray and none functional. Even if I let it set for several hours and try again it has not resolved. If I hold down the power button and force shutdown, then when I reboot it works fine for awhile then repeats the whole cycle. All software is updated.

Oct 20, 2010I am attempting to modify the given template CHECKING ACCOUNT REGISTER in Numbers. I have figured everything out except how to modify the "Category" column where a drop-down menu is given for several recurring items (Home/Gas/Food/etc.) that are to be entered in that column. I would like to find how to create such a column or to be able to modify the one provided in the template. The TRANSACTIONS table is linked to the ACCOUNT CATEGORIES table which is linked to the CHART. That is intact and working as it should, but I have been unable to alter the column CATEGORY so that the drop down items will be ones that I want to use. Having the drop-down menu insures proper itemization in the linked ACCOUNT CATEGORIES table where typos are avoided as a result. The PDF manual was of little help (to me anyway) in addressing this seemingly simple alteration.

Mar 28, 2010I am having trouble with Bookmarks. In the Folders I have numerous bookmarks under each Folder. I want to be able to display these bookmarks as a drop down menu under the Folder name. That would allow me to quickly access the bookmark I want. But when I click on the Folder name I do not get a drop down menu. Instead, the bookmarks are displayed as pages on the right hand side of the screen, and I have to scroll through all of them to get to the one I want. I am sure there is a simple way to correct this but I have not ben able to find it.

Software :: Flashing Earth Icon - Cannot Left Click - Dock Gone - Menu Drop Downs Blank
May 9, 2009When I turn on my Powerbook G4 (1.5 GHz) 15" a little Earth icon flashes about 15x. Then a small question mark flashes followed by the Mac smiley face icon. They alternate flashing about a dozen times or so. My computer then goes to the grey-on-grey Apple logo screen, then to the password login screen. I enter password and successfully get to my desktop, HOWEVER:
(1)the font on my menu bar seems to have changed. No big deal?
(2)The menu bar is incomplete as I'm missing my internet signal indicator
(3)My dock is completely gone. Cannot find it anywhere.
(4)I have desktop icons but cannot left click on any of them. When I do I just get a long blank white colored rectangle. When I roll cursor over it it turns blue. Still blank though!
(5)This is the same with the menu bar. When I click on anything (Finder, File, Edit, View, etc) the drop down menu is just blank empty space

Apr 3, 2012Just yesterday Safari repeatedly malfunctioned when accessing secure (SSL?) site drop-down boxes while trying to pay utility bills online. The boxes drop down, the desired selection can be highlighted, but when the cursor is lifted, the change is NOT made, the beach ball spins, Safari quits. Every time. On several different sites. Data can be entered in the blank spaces, but using the drop-down boxes results in a stall, then quit.
These type of tasks were accomplished as recently as the day before. Other Safari functions (browsing, youtube etc) seem to work. Firefox works in all areas.

Safari :: Drag And Drop Images From It?
Apr 5, 2012I was normally dragging pictures FROM Safari TO a folder. I don't want to "Save As...", because it's much more time consuming than simply drag and drop. All of a sudden, the feature does not work anymore. I can only drag images to a TextEdit, creating a Web Archive -- I don't need that, I need to drag them to a folder. Is there anything I can do? I'm using an iMac with Lion OS, and I did update to the last version of Safari.

Mar 15, 2012We use NetSuite which is a cloud based SAS enterprise solution. We spend about 90% of our computing time using this web page. It stopped working with Safari today. I don't think it is an incompatibility with Safari 5.1.4 because the problem didn't start until 3 or 4 days after I installed Safari 5.1.4 plus it still works OK on my home computer that also uses Safari 5.1.4.Â
NetSuite uses a lot of SOAP and Java. I click on drop-down menus in NetSuite and they typically have words with the associated icon to the left of each word.Today it has the words, but the little file type icons are missing. I click any of the links in the pull-downs and get a NetSuite "page not found" web page.Â
The same thing happens on all drop-down lists in netSuite. They're all missing their little icons to the left of the words and the links won't work.I tried everything. I deactivated all Safari add-ons and extensions. I deleted Safari prefs. I reset Safari. I rebooted and zapped the p-ram in the mac. Nothing seems to fix the issue. I posted the issue in the NetSuite User's Group and it seems to be a problem specific to my computer.Â
