Power Mac G5 :: Connected Via Ethernet But Can't Surf The Web?

I just re-installed my PowerMac G5 1.8ghz with 10.5 and I am hardwired into the network. Any other computer can plug in with the Ethernet cable and get a connection. Inside the Network Settings it shows that I am connected and I also am given an IP address. It also gives me the green light.

When I go to Safari and search the web the stats bar at the top just stays to the far left with a slight bit of blue. Nothing happens and nothing shows up. The other weird thing was the Time & Date automatically synced with the Internet so it is has a connection...I just can't surf the web.

Power Mac G5 :: Ethernet Port Connected To BT Home Hub?
I have a G5 DP 2.0 and have been using it's built in ethernet port connected straight to my BT home hub (adsl/router) for years. Any way I add into the mix a netgear 1000Base layer 2 switch and the G5's ethernet doesn't work, reconnect straight to the router and all is fine. Now tested with new cables and tested on every port on the switch. By the way the port light on the switch don't light up when G5 attached. Now have tried the switch with a g4 and all is fine on every port and supprisingly I've stuck a PCI card in the G5 and that works as well. Just can't work out why the built in won't work through the switch but will direct.

MacBook Pro :: Ethernet Doesn't Work At Home - Ethernet Not Connected?
I've got a MacBook Pro with an ethernet problem that developed over the past week. It's been connected successfully in the past to my home LAN running both on the wired and wireless networks, and connecting at gigabit speed over ethernet. I've never had a problem with it until now. Now when I plug it in, System Preferences indicates that Ethernet is Not Connected. After reading several posts, I discovered a crummy workaround whereby I changed the advanced setting for Ethernet to "manually" and 100baseTX. Sadly, the workaround won't work at 1000baseT, and that's the speed it's always worked at.

This seemed to happen shortly after I plugged into my work network, though I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the problem. I can still plug in to the work network without changing any settings. I can also plug into an older 100baseT network at my home. My Intel iMac is on the same gigabit ethernet LAN at home and is running fine at the gigabit speed without any modifications. So is my wife's Windoze machine.

MacBook Pro :: Use Wi-Fi To Surf Internet And Ethernet To Log To LAN Network?
I'm trying to use my Wi-Fi to surf the internet and the Ethernet to log to my LAN Network. Both networks have access to the inernet through different ISP's and both have Wi-Fi modems. I set up the Wi-Fi as my preferred network followed by the Ehternet connection. That way I can surf the web through the ISP that I want and I can see the other computers on the LAN Network. However, when I try to use any of the Network printers of log to the server I can't connect. Can anyone tell me if I have to set up the connections in any particular way? I'm using Mac OS X Lion on a Macbook Pro 13". The server controlling the LAN is a Windows Server 2008 R2.

OS X :: Connected To Ethernet / Can't Open Webpage
After setting my Built-in Ethernet card to DHCP today, for some reason it all of a sudden got an ip adress and became green and stated that it was connected.

But i couldn't open any websites on either of my browsers (mozilla, safari) and when i used the diagnostic it said that the internet, isp and network were working but that the Internet and Server have failed.

Can anyone help me with nthis new perdicament? I read somewhere that maybe i should swap the eth0 and eth1? Make one internal while the other external? I'm not sure if this applies

I'm using a macbook and am connecting to a dormitory internet. I had to give them my Ethernet ID and they gave me a password and a login which i still am not too sure what to do with. When i use the PPPoE version my network settings/internet/server fail.

OS X Tiger :: Ethernet Wire Is Connected But Computer Says It Isn't?
This is the same network referred to in the other question. I have a Linksys router. I am plugged in by wire from my G5, and from my eMac G4. However, the G4 says "The cable for built-in ethernet is not plugged in." Yet, the router itself, a Linksys WRT 546, shows the light on for the cable being plugged in. The System Preferences for the G4 keep saying that Network Preferences have been changed by another application. I can click on OK, but the same warning window comes up, again and again.

All I want is to have the same network connections as yesterday. Is this an impossible dream?

Software :: Web Pages Won't Load / Using Same Ethernet Cable?
I have a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.5.6 I connect to the internet with an ethernet cable direct into the wall. When I open the network connection box, it says the ethernet is connected, but it will not load any web pages. Friday I was using it fine and then got off. Came back a bit later and could no longer connect to any pages. I have spoken to my internet provider and they say my settings are fine. I am online on my desktop that connects using the same ethernet cable. I am not having any trouble connecting on it. I went and bought a new ethernet cable, just in case it was the problem

Mac Mini :: Ethernet Does Not Route Unless WiFi Is Connected
I am having the darndest problems with routing on my internal network, specifically with my Mac Mini Server which originally came Snow Leopard Server and was upgraded over the top (no clean metal) wtih Lion and Lion Server (10.7.4)Router is a Cisco/Linksys E4200 with firmware 1.0.04, but have had same problems with 1.0.02 and 1.0.03.Internal LAN/WiFi is defined as 10.0.0.0/255.255.255.0. Router is 10.0.0.1 and gateway. DNS is supposed to be served by the Mac Mini on 10.0.0.7, which also hosts my DHCP server to configure others on my home network.

With WiFi off on the Mac Mini "netstat -rn" returns essentially the same thing as on my Mac Pro (10.7.4 not-server) but for the MacPro at 10.0.0.3. In this condition the Mini will ping the MacPro and I can ssh between, through the ethernet switch on the E4200. The MacPro can ping the E4200 but the Mac Mini can not.The E4200 has some ports opened to forward to the Mac Mini. But, enable WiFi on the Mac Mini and suddenly the ethernet starts working through the E4200.

Sometimes I can change the static IP address on the Mini's ethernet with WiFi off and then it starts speaking to the E4200 and internet. For instance tonight I changed it to 10.0.0.8 and it didn't work. But 10.0.0.6 did. Moved it back to 10.0.0.7 and it still didn't work trough the router but it did work internally Mini to MacPro through the enthernet switch on the E4200.

OS X Leopard :: Mac Freezes When Connected To The Internet (via AirPort And Ethernet)?
I got an iMac recently and it's been working wonderfully, until a week ago. It began freezing only when it connects to the internet through either AirPort or Ethernet. And when it freezes, everything does (including the time on the top right corner)and can't even turn it off properly: I have to hold the power button until it shuts down. I've tried to connect online at different locations to see if it's just the internet provider or modems, but the problem seems to be rooted in the mac itself. Any ideas what it could be?

Mac Pro :: Miserable Web Page Load Times Over Ethernet
I've been experiencing miserable web page loading on my 2009 Mac Pro (12 GB RAM), and after 5 + hours on the phone with Apple Care Tech Support over the last week, I'm no closer to understanding my problem than I was when I started. Page loads are painfully slow with all browsers - up to 35 seconds to load basic web pages. Yet when I run bandwidth tests on the same computer, I get 15 + Mbps! The problem comes on suddenly and unexpectedly. After a matter of minutes or hours, it disappears. Then the cycle starts again. The Mac Pro is connected via ethernet to an Airport Extreme base station. Other computers hardwired into the same base station experience great network performance. If I pull the ethernet cable out of the Mac Pro that is giving me these hassles and plut it into my MBP, I have blazing page loads. Here's what I've tried so far:

Switching cables and ports
Zapping P RAM and SMC reset
Trashing caches.
Creating new network locations.
Eliminating browser plugins.
Trashing network settings.
Switch to open DNS.
Scan for DNS changers (none detected).
Reset AEBS.

This is driving me bonkers, and the next step seems to be an archive and install. Is there anything that I'm neglecting?

Mac QuickTime :: 'Export For Web' - No Video On Web Hosted Version
I think this has to be something I've done wrong, but I can't find it. Using QT Pro 7, I opened a .mov file and used 'Export for web'. The output was stored in a new subfolder of my 'movies' folder. The 'readme.html' file works fine, so my browser, qt plugin & that code is all fine. I followed the directions in that file, ftp'd the files to the web server, and put the html on the desired page. The served page displays the poster page and when I click 'play' the thermometer loads, the poster.jpg vanishes, audio plays, but only the black background shows.

It seems the error must be in my html, but I've double-checked that code several times and am still stuck.

OS X Leopard :: Disable Airport When Connected Via Ethernet?
I know this was an option in Tiger, but I can't find this in Leopard or Snow Leopard...

If I am connected to my LAN both wireless and wired, I get an error along the lines of "Host name blah is already in use, using host name blah-2".

Well of course it's already in use, I'm using it. I'm guessing that there isn't a way to set a host name at the MAC address level (so I could have a host name for Ethernet and for Airport), so is there a way to disable Airport when connected via Ethernet? Or to at least disable Airport when connecting to the same network gateway?

However, when I boot the G5 with Leopard 10.5.8, it does not see the network card in the system profiler under PCI cards. The only PCI card detected is a Broadcom 5702 in PCI slot 3. Hardware :: AirPort Express Setup - Connected To Router Via Ethernet
I'm trying to connect an AE to my PC using XP with a D-Link DIR-655 WiFi router. I've used the airport utility and connected the AE to my router via ethernet. It appears to be setup properly and I can see it on the D-Link software. After disconnecting the ethernet cable and with the AE sitting next to the router it continually shows up and then disappears. The light is green on the AE. Then I disconnected the power and moved the AE into the place where I'm going to use it.

Now it will show up on my D-Link software occasionally but the light won't turn green. It also doesn't show up on the airport utility software. I also have a Touch and ATV that both work fine on the same network and the same location. The AE is about 30 feet from the router with only one wall in between them. Am I missing something here or could there be a problem with the AE?
