Power Mac G5 :: Nvidia 7800GT Making Noise - Replace Fan Or Replace Card?

The fan on my G5's video card is very noisy, clearly the bearings are shot. Is the fan replaceable or should I just get a new card?

I have two problems/questions for this thread.

#1: My superdrive makes an incredible amount of noise lately. I'm not sure why it does that. It doesn't scratch any of the discs or anything, its just annoying. Should I get it fixed?
#2: I have a glassy screen. I hate it sometimes. Is it possible to get the screen replaced with an anti-glare screen?

Power Mac G5 :: Replace Video Card To Use Cinema Display?
I have a PM G5 1.8 GHz single processor, 1.5GB RAM, with an ATI 9600 graphics card with 128MB RAM. I have an opportunity to pick up very inexpensively an Apple Cinema Display 30". Now I know that this display requires a higher end video card. What I'd like to know is what is a good card to get that will work with this computer and allow the 30" display all of its capabilities?

Power Mac G5 :: G5 Will Not Boot / Genius Bar Says Replace?
Yesterday my G5 froze and wouldn't reboot. Restarting only got it to the grey screen and no further. I removed the memory sticks one by one and it still wasn't getting past the grey screen. Next I restarted holding the option key and ran apple hardware test. Passed mass storage, passed logic board, passed memory. Next I restarted holding down control, option, O-F and reset all defaults etc. Next I used my wife's laptop and firewired them and could see (and access) my hard drive(s). Next I tried to start in single user mode. Locked up wouldn't get past prompt screen. So I did all I can do and took her to the Genius Bar at my local apple store. They tried to start from their boot drives and couldn't get it to boot either. The Tech said that he thinks it might be the logic board or processor and that I should just buy a new computer since it would be upwards of $600.00 to fix. Question, should I trust that prognosis? Could it be as simple as a PRAM battery? Tapped financially right now, but my Mac is my livelihood and if I have to replace, I have to replace.

PowerPC :: Replace Internal Airport Card On Alum Powerbook?
First off, is this even possible? I can't figure out if my internal wireless "card" is a removable piece like it was on the iBooks of the same generation. I know that wireless G was standard on the Alum Powerbooks, but does that mean it was soldered in somehow? When I replaced my HD last year I don't recall seeing one...

If it wasn't soldered, and it's a replaceable card, does anyone make a compatible N card that I can drop in it's place? Times are changing and both my house and my work will have N routers, and I would like to take advantage.

MacBook :: Fan Making Buzzing Noise
I was just downstairs in my basement using my macbook and I decided to come upstairs and when I got up here I noticed that my fan is making a weird buzzing noise. I can tell it is my fan because when I make the fans spin faster in smcfancontrol the noise gets louder. Could this be something that is in the fan or could this be a more serious problem? I can take the back case off and check but I just wanted to know if this could be a serious problem with the fan. Is there any chance I could have bent something by carrying it wrong?

PowerPC :: Video - Replace Power Supply Burned Out?
I have a first gen imac g5 (bought it in dec. 2004). So far I've had three major problems with it:

1. After 6 months of use, the power supply burned out and had to be replaced.
2. 3 months later the well known video problems due to faulty capacitors appeared. The midplane board was replaced.
3. I was out of the country for 6 months; after the midplane board was replaced in August my imac was sitting unused. Booted it up yesterday and the computer would just hang. Took it to the genius bar at the apple store today and was told the logic board has to be replaced. Luckily, though the computer is out of warranty, Apple has extended the warranty for this specific problem.

At this point, I am very frustrated. I am going to call Apple and request that they replace my imac with a new one. It is obvious reading the posts here and Apple's boards (btw, before Apple's board monitors started censoring and delting posts that address these problems - my post on the Apple board yesterday was deleted by the monitors) that many users have had lemons with the first gen imac g5. I consider three major problems in less than a year to be symptomatic of a "lemon". If Apple doesn't replace lemon imac g5's what are the alternatives...I wonder if they would buckle if enough people threaten a class action lawsuit. Something must be done to alert the general public about this problem.

MacBook Pro :: Apple Replace Power Adapter?
I've had the computer for over a year. It is currently insured with the Applecare. It seems like the adapter's cord is starting to show some normal wear-and-tear. It still works (i.e., still charging my computer), but I'm afraid that it will either rip or cause a short sometime. I've never dinged the charger. It just seems like the coiling made it come apart. See the picture below. Will Apple replace this under the warranty, or will I have to rake out $80 for a new one if this one gives way? image: [URL] I just got off the phone with an Apple rep, and he will be shipping me a new adapter. I'll just have to send him back the damaged one.

MacBook Air :: Fan Making Constant Buzzing Noise
I have had my MBA for almost a week, and I've had no issues so far. Until now. This is the case: The fan operates as it should. It stays on 2500 rpm at light use, and increases with heavier use. At 2500 rpm I was not able to hear it without putting my ear next to the keyboard. That was yesterday. Today the fan produces a new noise. It isn't very loud, but clearly audible at 2500 rpm in a quiet environment. It's a low, constant, buzzing kind of noise. It also increases with fan speed.

MacBook Pro :: Fan Making Faint Clicking Noise
I have a 13" MacBook Pro from Mid-2009 and just today I've noticed a real faint clicking noise coming from the fan. It almost sounds like that noise a bike makes when you put a baseball card against its wheel. It's not very loud, but when I'm working in a silent room, it's been pretty annoying. I opened the back and blew all the dust out and all that, but the problem seems to only have got worse since then. The fan is still spinning at its usual 2000rpm.

Power Mac G5 :: Fan Noise On Dual 2GHz?
I need to quiet this old guy down, ideally, to near silent levels to use it as a music server.

I've cleaned out the dust, turned down the power settings in the Preferences, but the ambient fan noise is very noticeable even at 8', especially during quiet passages during musical playback.

Do I have any options here? Have I overlooked something obvious?

On the extreme end, can I replace the fans in the fan assemblies with super-quiet aftermarket alternatives? And if so, any gotchas?

Hardware :: Replace Power Cord (Aluminum Cinema Display)
So my dad is going to get one of the new LED displays soon, since his old aluminum one is out of warranty and needs a new power cord (I guess several years of rubbing against the corner of the desk has made it begin to fray - I haven't seen it yet, though, so I don't know how bad it is). Anyways, he says if I can fix it, it's mine. So I was just wondering how hard it is to replace the cord? This is the one that comes directly out of the back of the display and plugs into the power supply.
