Pages 09 :: Using Different Languages - Spelling And Grammar?
I am confused about how Page'09 handles languages. I was expecting that the menu "edit > spelling" would actually be "edit > spelling and grammar" and that it would give me the option like TextEdit to change languages. I spent a long time thinking that there was a problem with pages'09 and assumed there was a problem, or an option turned off somewhere. Then reading this forum I discovered "inspector > text > more > language I find that this works, but why is a language option so deeply embedded and hard to find?
Is there a way to switch between "as you type" spelling checker that works on a Mac (I am a newbie) in a sort of global way. I thought that I had found it when I discovered the "input menu" option. I use English, Spanish and Dutch quite often and when I was able to choose one of the three flags on the upper bar on my Mac I thought great!, now it will follow my desired language. But I found no, it only adjusts the keyboard input layout and not the language being used. On my PC I was able to switch languages with a keyboard shortcut and the spell checker would follow my language choice.

Software :: Spelling And Grammar Function Gone?
I have Office 2004 for Mac running on OSX10.3.9 on an eMac. In Word, under Tools, the Spelling and Grammar function is gone although when typing, errors are underlined as usual. On other user accounts on the eMac, the Spelling and Grammar function is there under Tools. What gives/ How can i get it back? Would trashing a pref file help? If so, which one?

Keynote 09 :: How To Switch Languages For Spelling
I am new to Keynote and cannot find where one switches the language used for spell checking for the whole presentation. In the manual, it says "more" under the Inspector. There is no more. In one of other forum entries, it says under "Spelling and Grammar" under Edit There is no "Spelling and Grammar" There is Spelling but as far as I can see you can change the language only for the word under consideration that the spell checker has already found to be wrong. I want to have the whole presentation checked as I type in Spanish. How do I set that in K'09. Information: iMac Mac OS X (10.5.6)

OS X Leopard :: Unable To Check Spelling In Foreign Languages?
This one has me stumped. I cannot say when this started, but on my Mac Book Pro (15"), I can no longer the spelling in any language other than English. I regularly use French and German, and every word I write in these languages is systematically underlined in red with no choices in the dialog box. As soon as I switch the language selector back to English and type in English, everything works fine. So far, I've repaired permissions, trashed preferences, reinstalled the 10.5.6 combo updated and Mail updated, repaired permissions again, copied the Mail and Dictionary apps from my Mac Pro (where everything works) to my Mac Book Pro.. all to no avail. I also verified that the Dictionaries in /Library/Dictionaries are there and contain the proper language resources. No matter how I look at it, it seems to me that everything is set up correctly -- except that it doesn't work. Pages 09 :: Spelling And Spell Check Not Working?
I just noticed that neither "check spelling as you type" nor regular ol' spellchecking a document is working for me in Pages '09. And yes, I've selected, deselected, reselected, the appropriate options, to no avail. In fact, the program won't let me even select "check spelling" -- it gives an alert "ding!" and reverts to "check while you type" (which isn't working). When I try to select Edit-->Spelling, I get the same "ding!" and a blank spell-check window and no spell-checking activity. Information: 15" MBP 2.4Ghz/4GB RAM & Intel mini & G5 Dual Mac OS X (10.5)

Pages 09 :: Adding / Using Custom Spelling Dictionary?
I'm doing some serious copy editing for a professional document. And I have lots of specific terminology. Does anyone know if a way to add a custom dictionary to Pages? Word lets you add any number of custom dictionaries, so I was able to add my Stedman's to the list, and I don't have to manually add all of the medical terms. (and I find it amusing that my US English choice still seems to give me French word preferences!) Information: G5 Dual 2GHz Mac OS X (10.5.6) Macbook Pro G5, 60GB video iPod, 8GB iPhone

Pages 09 :: How Do I Add Dictionary/spelling Checker
I am not sure if iWork and or Pages support various languages by default or not. When I write a document in Pages I set it to auto check my spelling, which it does. The problem is I normally write in German and a german dictionary and spelling checker seems to be in place, but when I then write in english it still tries to check the spelling with the german dictionary. I do not know where to change the language for the spell checker or if needed how to install a english dictionary and spell checker. I only got my first iMac a couple of days ago and this is my first try with Pages. Information: iMac 24" (new 2009 model) Mac OS X (10.5.6) 2,66 Ghz, 4Gb Ram

Pages 09 :: Keyboard Shortcut For Spelling Check Option?
In the past, in Pages and in all my other Mac apps, I use the system keyboard shortcut cmd-: (colon) to bring up the spell check window and check the spelling. When I'm finished, I press cmd-: again and the window closes. It's a toggle. But it doesn't work that way in Pages 09. The shortcut brings up the window, but pressing it again doesn't close the window. I have to use the mouse to click on the close window button. The toggle still works for Bean, for TextEdit, for DevonThinkPro, etc. It doesn't work for Pages. Is there something in Pages I can change? Information: macbook pro Mac OS X (10.5.6)

Weird I thought I must have misspelt that word (i am avery bad typist so didn't really think about it), but yesterday I sent a letter to a client that I tripled checked and even asked my wife to check and yet right after I sent it there it was Dar Sir instead of Dear Sir - kind of embarrassing but also what is going on with Mail? Snow Leopard :: Language Set To English UK But Recognize US Spelling
First of all I'd just like to comment on how extremely difficult it is to get any support - your login/create userid process is difficult and not user friendly at all. My question is about language. I'm using work for mac, and although the language is set to English UK it only recognizes American spelling. Which means that I'm either going without spellcheck or I have to 'ignore' UK spelling. I am British and I object to having to 'ignore' the correct spelling. I'm assuming that there is somewhere an overall language setting that is overriding the word for mac dictionary I have set.
