After updating OSX from 10.5 to 10.6 my keychain access does not work for all login websites I had setup. Is there a pdf manual for keychain access to download ? I need to setup keychain access so that I don't have to type in my username and password for websites requiring logon.Â

I had to reset my password through the Install Disc. Upon restarting my Mac, I chose to reset my Keychain Access password. However, it does not seem to have updated, and when I go to Utilities to open Keychain Access, it does not open. I created another admin account, and Keychain Access does not open for that either.Â

I am trying to get one password for all of my online passwords. Currently I just use the same password for all of my logins, but I was told that was a terrible idea. I would like to get keychain to create randomized passwords for all of my online logins and then I can simply enter the one keychain password everytime that i need login to something online. So I guess my goal would be for Keychain to act as the middleman, does it have that function?

I've tried downloading the Apple Software Installer fix and I've deleted the various software update files in the Library; however, nothing works. Once I launch software update, it will give me a list of software that can be updated.Once the computer restarts, I launch Software Update again and it gives me exactly the same list of software to update.
i have an intel MacBook that i bought just before Leopard came out. Its currently running Tiger 10.4.11 and I'm thinking of upgrading it to Snow Leopard.
Ive never had problems upgrading before, but I'd like to make a backup of it first (just in case). My other Mac has Leopard on it when i bought it so I've had Time Machine to do it all for me. However, obviously, there is no Time Machine in Tiger.
Could i simply plug in an external HDD and have disc utility make a Disk Image of my MacBook HDD onto it to use as a backup?

All ng. I cannot launch from " Solutions Menu ". Printer does print. If I try and scan from image capture it scans very very slow and is not accurate. I tried connecting with a usb cable and not using the wifi. Still ng.

I was downloading microsoft software last night and all of a sudden I began getting these little pop-ups that say "A keychain cannot be found for safari" with the option to cancel or reset to default.
how can I fix this so it doesn't happen?
Safari keeps giving me popup windows saying a keychain can't be found. It's only just started doing this but it's really annoying. Could it have anything to do with the fact I installed a new flash player? That's the only difference I can think of.Also on another computer it keeps asking for a password to access the keychain. It only does this on one user account though. Any assistance is gladly accepted!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've never used OSX before about a week ago, but I am picking up on it well (I've used GNU/Linux for almost ten years so I know my way around an operating system). But I don't really think keychain access is working as it should...It's hard to explain. I mean, the way I understand it, shouldn't it be saving the passwords I type into Safari and auto-filling them? Because it only auto-fills some passwords. Paypal autofills, but my bank's website doesn't, and even this forum doesn't autofill. I have to type in my password every time I visit.
Is this working as intended? Is there a way I can get Safari or Keychain to fill in all passwords for me automatically? This is leopard on an iMac G5 iSight model. I did a fresh install like a week ago. Sorry if my question is vague but that's the best I can do with the amount I understand.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI really like the guest account feature that Leopard (and I'm assuming Snow Leopard) provides.I just got my first Macbook Pro... about a year old running Leopard... part of a client deal (you Mac people just got another application developer interested ).
Anyway.. I'm wondering... I"m getting rid of a few of my other computers on craigslist in the coming weeks and my girlfriend always wants to check her facebook. I'd prefer not to have her accidentally close something important so I setup & configured the guest account. I installed the server admin tools to fully customize the dock/etc.
Two questions however:
1: Thus far the guest account cannot access HTTPS (secure sites) websites. Not in Safari or Google Chrome. Is this an option somewhere? Something I'm missing? I've tried googling for about 30 minutes and have come up blank.
2: Without overwriting the default profile setup (incase I ever want to create new profiles)... is there a way to set a few default things for the Guest user? FOr instance... I know it wipes everything on close... I want it to remember that Google Chrome & Safari have run before (annoying that it asks "do you want this to be the default browser?.. or running the initial safari video).
Feel free to get as technical as you want... as I said I'm a seasoned linux & windows developer getting into the Mac world .
For our users Keychain is a nightmare - especially because they do not remember the first password - as the network enforces them to change it every 90 days. With this the keychain pop keeps coming up constantly and is affecting the users working. So I would like to know how to stop keychain or to disable it?

I found that he installed an access in Keychain to my Time Capsule showing its password when he replaced my HD. When I try to delete it I am denied on my password. When I try to create a new Keychain my password is denied, so I cannot create a new Keychain and delete the old one— if that would work in this situation. I have some other issues with this dealer, an old one predating the Apple Stores. I don't like to go back to him to find out how I can get him out of my computer.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am running multiple services with the latest version of OS X 10.6 Server on my MacMini (web, mail, ichat, address book, etc.) . When I try to open my websites I get an "unable to find sever message". Everything has been working fine for the last 2 years and no changes have been made to the server settings, ISP, or DNS. All other services are working as they should. The server is hooked up to an Airport Extreme via a cable modem with a static IP. I have tried the following thus far:
1) restarted the server, airport extreme, and cable modem
2) checked the DNS via the web and my site addresses are pointing to my static IP address
3) turned Web services off and on again in Server Admin
4) checked the Airport port mapping to make sure Web Service (Port 80) was still open

I recently took a position where the previous person didn't leave much in the way of processes or instruction. There are several existing domains, purchased from GoDaddy, hosted locally on our server. I am working on adding a new site and purchased the domain below. I have changed all the zone settings in GoDaddy's DNS manager and have duplicated an existing *.conf fie in the Apache2 folder making the changes within the file to the directory and the domain name. I have also added the directory and set it to be a sharepoint as well as adjusted the permissions.Â

I am not familiar with hosting locally as I have always used GoDaddy.  There are several sites set up, so I have some "template" to go off of, but I need the basics. If i purchase the domain somewhere and the multiple sites are hosted on a single IP, how can I direct to a specific folder? Today I performed a clean install of Snow Leopard on my late 2009 Mac Mini. After completing the installation, I began running software update to bring everything up-to-date.While software update did find and install a number of updates (10.6.8v1.1 Combo update, Security Update 2012-002, Apple Software Installer Update, iLife Support 9.0.4, Remote Desktop Client Update 3.5.3, Airport Utility, Java, Safari) it did not find an update for iTunes (which starts at version 9.x, I believe, in a SL clean install).I assumed that this was some sort of random glitch and manually downloaded and installed iTunes 10.6.3.After that, I re-installed iLife '11 (from a retail DVD, not the App Store).When I ran Software Update again, it found updates for Garage Band, iDVD, and iWeb, but it did not show the updates for iPhoto and iMovie.I found this to be unnerving, as I performed a clean install when I first obtained this Mini a few months ago and didn't experience any of these problems - all of my Apple software updated automatically through Software Update without a hitch.
I began researching this problem online and found that other people have been experiencing this same problem (or some variation of it), and it seems like it began appearing around the time Apple updated some of its security certificates in March.In particular, I've found several references to the missing iPhoto update.This one is especially noticeable because an iPhoto library created in iPhoto 9.2.3 will not open in iPhoto 9.0, and this generates an error upon opening the program (i.e., a user backs up their iPhoto library created in 9.2.3, performs a SL clean install, reinstalls iLife, goes through the Software Update process until it shows that no more updates are available, and are shocked to find that they are unable to open their backed up iPhoto library because they have an out of date version of iPhoto).The most common (and admittedly logical) solution proposed in the threads I've read is to download any necessary updates directly from the Apple website. However, I am curious as to why this previously functional feature now appears to be broken.Has anyone else been struggling with this? Does it indeed have something to do with the new security certificates? Is Apple aware of the problem?
